'When she said I do' , is a young fun HR read...following our lead couple Callie and Ren as they live another re-told version of Disney's tale Beauty and the beast..

description

This book constituted a lot of things...
1 Hilarity
2 Suspence
3 Sweet romance
4 Angst

BUT the one thing I DEFIANTLY DID NOT expect from this book was the sheer amount of EROTICA 0_O (lol...to say I was 'mildly suprised' would be an understatment......The things they

I was really looking forward to this book. I enjoyed Ms. Bradley's Royal Four and Liars Club books and two are even on my 5 Star All-Time Favorite List (To Wed a Scandalous Spy and Seducing the Spy, so I was very excited to read that poor Ren Porter was going to get a book of his own. I was also looking forward to the whole Worthington family. Ms. Bradley had explained on her website that she was trying to portray a family similar to the Weasley family from Harry Potter so what could go wrong? A ...more

This book had everything to be a 5 stars.

It was deeply sensual, with pretty intense intimate scenes between Calliope and Ren.
Personally, my favourite parts were sure when they fought with swords, he defeated her and then subdued her on the floor, just to slowly caress her body with the sword. And when he finally let her see and touch him.
Those scenes were immensely erotic and emotional and, like I said, my favourite ones, even though the others were pretty great scenes as well.

Also, who knows m

I was first drawn by the pretty pink cover. When I read the first chapter, I thought, that quick?-both ruled by lust. Then things went on like that for so many chapters. Both imo just driven by lust. Horny when together. Didn't help that he would tease her every night, and then when in that scene with the cane, smh, am I reading an erotica? Been thinking that as I went through each page and practically just skimming through the too many sex scenes so when I came upon that cane scene, I thought, ...more

I do love a good Beauty and the Beast theme like story, and this one I would put at the top of my list of favorites. Its the type of story that instantly draws you in and its pretty hard to put down. I do love a story that is easy to get into, but difficult to let go of. This is the first that I have read from this author. I saw the cover and read the blurb, and with no regrets picked it up, knowing I would probably regret it if I didn't. When She Said I Do is pretty close to the beauty and the ...more

When She Said I Do is a beguiling blend of romance, passion, peril and hilarity. Everything about this story is pleasingly unexpected — the characters, the plot developments and even how the sexual and emotional bonds between Callie and Ren ripen. This fairy tale is more than a retelling of Beauty and the Beast — it's Beauty and the Beast meets The Addams Family, with Sleeping Beauty stopping in for a long weekend. Only this Regency-era fairy tale doesn't leave out the sexy bits.

The ever-practic

I am going to say this up front; I have been waiting for this hero’s story for a long time! Lawrence “Ren” Porter was originally introduced in the Liar’s Club series as an agent who specialized in infiltrating the enemy. While on a mission, Ren’s cover is blown by a double-agent and he is severely beaten and left for dead. His recovery is slow, the injuries to his body and his pride are deep, and the final blow to his heart came when his fiancé leaves him while he was in a coma. Ren makes anoth ...more

Ever mine, ever more, no matter what

Not knowing which is more damaged his face or his heart, Ren Porter decided to collapse inward and never come back out. The unexpected ray of sunshine the blinded him to hope was this slip of a woman named Calliope. She literally stole into his home and the temptation to keep her there now included marriage.

Ren never expected the primal desire he felt for Callie but here he was overcome with a passion to protect her. Too many coincidences create the belief tha

This is a wonderful and delightful story. I love the twist to the beauty and the beast tale. I could not put down, due to the fact of what would or could happen next.

Plenty of drama, very little common sense.

(Sep) I don't always love Celeste Bradley, but when I do, I really do! Calliope (I do like that name!) is part of an unusual family. Her many siblings are all odd in their own way, but the family loves one another. After a carriage accident, she and her parents and one brother take refuge in a seemingly deserted house. She is found by the master of the house, a drunken recluse who thinks she is a vision. Callie is intrigued by this stranger in a hooded cloak, and ends up somewhat compromised by ...more

Loved this book. It is the story of Ren Porter, a secondary character in the Liar's Club series, and Callie Worthington. I was glad to see Ren get his story after the trauma he'd gone through in the earlier books. His injuries were so bad that he has taken to hiding out in his home, drinking and waiting to die. His home is invaded one night when Callie and her family take refuge there after a carriage accident. Thinking the place is abandoned, Callie goes exploring and finds a jewelry box that s ...more
Shh I'm reading!
I'm giving this one 3 stars with some hesitation. I've read previous Bradley books and enjoyed them for the sweetness and intrigue. I started this one fulling expecting more of the same. Not so. The tone was intensely dark and more sensual than I recall from previous books. It was fitting given Ren's past and the clear inspiration of Beauty and the Beast, and, quite frankly, made me admire the skill with which Bradley weaves light BDSM into Callie and Ren's relationship.
My problem is with every

I am giving this four stars, but with a fair amount of explanation.

I thought this was a really fun Regency, and that it is a (quite literal) retelling of a fairy tale, well, that automatically grants it an extra star from me. The characters were fun and the plot was sort of dopey but mostly good fun.

That said, I read this because it says it is "Worthington #1". This might lead one to believe that it is the first in a series. And maybe it is, but from the way it is written, it seems to be a spin-

Calliope Worthington, also known as Cali is the eldest daughter of the Worthington clan. Her family is on some kind of road trip when they get stranded in the middle of a brutal storm. Soaking wet and hungry, they all take refuge in a seemingly empty house. After Cali insures that her family is fed and watered, she takes it upon herself to go exploring the mansion.

Ren porter is a lost soul. Embittered by his life, he stays stinking drunk most days, and is content to wallow in his own self-pity,

I usually enjoy and look forward to Bradley's stories, but it was hard to finish this one. In fact, the more I think about it, the more annoyed I get. Why? One: Ren and Calliope didn't have enough relationship-building scenes. Ren spent too much time hiding and Callie dodged too many "accidents." However, their little time together was very nice--outside of the gratifyingly numerous sex scenes, that is. I really liked those. Two: Callie's utterly ridiculous family. Simply annoying. I couldn't li ...more

I've been waiting for Celeste Bradley to release a new book and, after two years, When She Said I Do is finally here.

Calliope Worthington and her family sought refuge in the first house they saw after their carriage gets swept away in the river. The house looked abandoned and the Worthingtons are relieved to have a place to recover after their near-death experience. What they didn't know is that the owner of the house is at home, and he doesn't take too kindly to strangers, especially to strange

This is a historical beauty and the beast theme.

It's also very funny. Heroine and her family are stranded in a rainstorm when the carriage breaks down. They end up at the hero's estate. He has no servants and lives alone because he was horribly scarred in the war.

Heroine goes exploring and bumps into him in her nightdress. Hijinks ensue.

I thought this book was very hot. It was creative with the love scenes without overdoing it.

It was also very character driven. It's just hero and heroine stu

I really wanted to love this book, and I certainly loved some parts of it. The steam could be scorching hot, though there was one scene I wasn’t too fond of during the ball. I found myself skipping pages once in a while. I feel like there may have been too much going on in this book, things were added that didn’t necessarily need to be to make it a great read.

why did no one warn me that there is another series before this one and before someone says they are not related, like hell they are not. every other conversation is a hint to previous books, characters, stories and plots. Now I have to go read 'Liar's Club'.
ok apart from that annoying feeling that I am missing out on a bigger picture I truly enjoyed this book it was fun and funny,
I really wanted to be a Worthington not by marriage even if Dade sounds hot and that other tortured soul brother

Why did I not realize this was Ren from the Liar's Club and The Royal Four? Oh thank you for this book. I asked for it and I got it. I loved it, but I didn't care for the rest of the Worthington family. I doubt if I'll be reading any more of them.

loved this! it was over too soon.
"I shall love you until the day I die."
"And after that?"
"After that I shall simply have to love you forever."

A very silly premise. I love silly premises. And overall I thoroughly enjoyed the story. At times the hero was too angst-ridden, but at the same time it was acknowledged in the story (in an (imo) humorous manner). The villain was too obvious, but the actual participation of the...er...associate villain was less clear cut. And the villain actually did less than I thought, so good job there. Ummm...oh! HOLY SHIT HER FAMILY THOUGH. DEAR GOD. The pure, unadulterated selfishness. But I did so love th ...more

I absolutely loved this book! It reminded me a lot of beauty and the beast. Callie and her family stumble across what appears to be an abandoned estate but is actually the home of recluse Ren Porter. Events happen and Ren and Callie end up married. I loved Ren. His whole demeanor screamed dark and brooding as well as never showing his face because of his scars. I love how Callie pealed his layers back to show that it mattered to her only what was on the inside. I had some issues with Callie. She ...more

I'm a bit dubious about an entire SERIES devoted to Callie's family, as her family is INSANE (harming-others-with-their-recklessness insane; I think they were meant as comic relief, but I didn't find them funny). Callie's more than a bit of a madcap herself, but she doesn't have a patch on the rest of them.

Callie's family was one of the few low points of this book. The rest of it was fantastic-- a nuanced and emotional Beauty and the Beast/Persephone tale (and wasn't Callie's dress a lovely nod

I should probably start the review by saying that my expectations were not very high when I started this book. I had read, and enjoyed, Celeste Bradley's Liars Club books (which are the prequels to this one), but got burned out on her writing when trying to get through the Runaway Brides series. But, a glowing review from one of the bloggers I rely on the most convinced me to try Bradley again. And I am so glad I did because this book was full of everything that I require in an entertai

Celeste Bradley is the author of Fallen, which was nominated for a RITA in 2002, and The Pretender, the first book in the Liars series. According to Bradley, the best thing about writing is that she finally gets to use the brain full of trivia she's collected over a lifetime of living in eight states, residing in over twenty homes, and changing her major five times. "It was research for my writing ...more
