This book is written from a Roman Catholic perspective and follows the tradition started by Pope Gregory I in 591 in which the persons of Mary Magdalene, Mary Bethany sister of Lazarus who also annointed Christ, and the sinful woman from Luke 7:36-50 who annointed Christ's feet and washed them with her tears are combined into a single person.
