This is the novella that precedes Lucas and the war that is coming between the American vampires. It's one of my favourite series so always a joy to read but the storyline here felt a little disjointed as it rushes from midweek to the weekend. That being said the author takes time to reaffirm Raphael and Cyn's passionate relationship but there are cracks that are joyfully exploited. Imagine being mated to a vampire who believes he is nigh on indestructible but there's always a slim chance that s ...more

This was a great addition to the series.... D.B. Reynolds has managed to keep the series fresh by introducing new and exciting character's for us to drool over and still manages to keep Raphael & Cyn included in each story (which I love because I cannot get enough of "Fang Boy")!!

I Absolutely LOVE this series!!! It was awesome to catch up with Raphael & Cyn! This was a great novella leading up to Lucas book, who happens to be a yummy Raphael look-a-like (according to Cyn) except he's an

This is a fantastic series and this novella, just wets my appetite for more. The chemistry between Cyn and Raphael, just oozes. The author has a great voice and puts it on the page exquisitely. Top that off with action and lots of sexy heat, makes this book a winner for me. I also thoroughly enjoyed the glimpses and revisiting of the previous characters. Loved it!

I think Cyn and Raphael rank up there in my favorite literary couples of all time. For sure they are in my urban fantasy/paranormal romance top 5. This story, which was a novella focusing on Raphael and Cyn between the book Duncan and Lucas, was a perfect interlude.

I actually read this one after Lucas, which was phenomenal, and it made me smile to be re-introduced to my favorite Irish vampire cowboy. The story itself is pure Raphael and Cyn, though, and I loved having the focus back
5 Fang-tastic Stars!! Terrific addition to the Vampires in America series!! Cyn and Raphael are right up there at the top of my list of favorite couples. When these two are together it's magic! They play so well off each other, and play naughty...ALOT!! Raphael oozes sexuality, his devotion and love for “his” Cyn makes me swoon. No one can topple her defensive ways quite like “Fang boy”. Sweet Jesus, he knows how to make her scream with those pointy teeth and leave her in an orgasmic haze, over ...more

Steamy Suspenseful Prequel to LUCAS, One You Don’t Want to Miss!

For those of you lovers of Reynolds’ Vampires in America Series (see list of books below) who, like me, can’t get enough of Raphael and Cyn, AND are looking forward to the next installment, LUCAS, this novella prequel is a must read!

Raphael and Cyn are visiting Grand Junction, Colorado when Raphael is suddenly attacked. Of course, Cyn goes into major protective investigator mode and Raphael and Cyn have words about her involvement,
I thought this was going to be another light-hearted novella about Raphael and Cyn with cute romance scenes, and a little bit of vampire politics on the side - Whelp - Nope. This novella was surprisingly more serious and emotional, especially as it progressed. I'm not even going to lie - I did tear up a bit at a certain key moment between Raphael and Cyn. This novella was a nice development to their relationship and made me curious to see what would happen in future books.

I also have to say that

This short story has it all--hot sex, witty dialogue and relationship turmoil--there is a vampire war on the horizon and someone is trying to kill Raphael--new characters are introduced--a great addition to the Vampires in America world

***Received the ebook for an honest review from the publisher

The cover is very sexy with that look in Raphael’s eyes.

This is a novella that is about 90 pages, and it is about Raphael and Cyn. This is an adult series with the sexual content it contains, so no kids or teens.

This story does not have as much action as D.B. full novel length books have, and this is added information that is mentioned in one of the other books, but no details wer

Everything to do with Raphael and I'm in. I even re-read the parts (only) with Raphael in Sophia (book #4), and that is just a simply thing of what I'm willing to do to read about my Raphael. As you probably understand: I am completely and utterly in love with Raphael. Strangely enough, I seem to like/love everyone with the name Raphael. Angels' Blood, anybody? :P Anyway, this short novella of Raphael and Cyn is good. It's Raphael, so there's no questioning that. Hell

An attempt on the life of the most powerful vampire in North America has been made. The hunt is on to find the gunman as two Vampire Lords are on the brink of war.

In Cyn and Raphael's first novella, someone has sent a sniper after Raphael and the vampire Lord, along with his head strong mate, are searching for the gunman and the one who sent him. The investigation puts some strain on their relationship and shows it's not always sweet words and hot sex between this power couple. I love t

A nice little interlude in the life of Cyn and Raphael. Although it also served as a lead in to Lucas, next book in the series. It made me want to read it even more.

I love Raphael and all of his vampires. Cyn, as always, is great and independent and far away from a wilting flower.

The only thing I didn't like is (view spoiler)

It's always awesome to get more Raphael & Cyn - What a dynamic pair! Raphael may be the most powerful Vampire Lord of them all, but Cyn can go toe to toe with him. Together, they hunt down a sniper and the vampire lord who hired him to kill Raphael. In the process, Raphael does something that Cyn won't tolerate - can they come to terms with it? Betrayed is an action-packed novella that is intense and sinfully delicious. It also serves as a great intro into Lucas's story coming up next. A Mus ...more

This was a great novella to introduce the reader to Lucas and give us a teaser for his upcoming book! I am excited to read his book as he is one sexy vampire!! Also it was nice to get more of Raphael and Cyn; I will never complain when we get more of them! Of course the sex scene in this book was scorching hot, but I expect no less from DB Reynold's and her awesome series!
Definately a great read and a wonderful treat to have as we are waiting for the upcoming book, "Lucas".

Well, I'm going to start by saying that Raphael is my favourite paranormal character, against some stiff competition; but, for me, nobody beats this brooding, strong, charismatic Vampire Lord. He acts like a powerful vampire should, and he loves like one too. Raphael and Cyn are a power couple and they are off the charts sexy, mmm. Raphael's PI partner, Cyn, is good by herself, and even better with Raphael attached. Cyn stands toe-to-toe with Raphael and comes off well because of it. Cynthia Lei

I really enjoyed this novella. D.B.'s vignettes are always a nice teaser to keep her readers enticed between novels, but I like the longer format of this and the development of a full plot. I also liked this intimate glimpse at Raphael and Cyn and their struggle with the events from SOPHIA. It had a great ending, but it wasn't all butterflies and rainbows and I appreciated seeing that side of them. Their relationship has always been a little push and shove and it was both good and hard to see th ...more

Raphael is one of my favorite vampire heroes. He can kill with a single thought. He's ruthless in his punishments. His back story weighs down the heart. And his blood lust adds potency to his already sexual brawn. All the attributes we love about vampires amass into this self-contained Lord of lords. But he isn't without weakness. Cyn, the heroine who stands at his side, couldn't be a better fit. My favorite thing about her is her display of guns. In this 5.5 novella in the Vampires in America s ...more

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha, Michelle L. Olson:
VAMPIRES IN AMERICA is easily one of my favorite vampire series out there. It's engaging, action packed, & seriously hot. While Paranormal Romance, it has an arc like an Urban Fantasy that keeps you coming back for more and yearning for the next story to be released. Like most readers of VIA, I craved more Cyn and Raphael, and D.B definitely delivered with this novella. My exact words upon finishing the story were: "Holy hotnes

Betrayed(Cyn & Raphael's Novella).
Expected Publication August 15th 2012

They say a good book is judge by what you take from it, now I wonder how you judge a book that is etched in your mind eternally …
Betrayed was a beautifully written piece and I loved every minute of it! Although, why I’m surprise I don’t know, D.B. Reynolds, never disappoints! Nothing she writes is mediocre… And all her books have an addictive quality to it. As

Someone is trying to kill Raphael and Lucas and Raphael's new lieutenant are introduced into the series.

Cyn is against the idea Raphael making himself a target to catch a shooter and the main conflict between them is that he hides from her that he is going to endanger himself. Although the author gave us a bit more drama between them than usual, they are still a great couple. It isn't the type of drama where a previously strong female character is reduced to a doormat.

First off, I want to say that I really LOVE D.B. Reynolds' writing. I've re-read Raphael, Jabril, and Sophie MULTIPLE times. I believe she's right up there with the best vampire romance writers in the business. Seriously, her books are that good.

Betrayed was good. It's not my favorite, but I really liked the elements the author introduced in this story. Not only did we meet the next hero, who is sexy as all get out, but we also see there may be trouble ahead for Raphael and Cin. Be afraid. Be ve

But man o man, do I wish Lucas was coming out tomorrow. This is yet another awesome installment in the world of Vampires in America & the only place where it disappoints is that it ends! If you are a fan of the series, this is somewhere between a vignette & full story & here we get to see how things are going between Cyn & Raphael (my favorite couple by far & the touchstones of the series). It had been years since I read Vampires in America series and my favorite couple Raphael and Cynthia. After losing track of this series, I decided to make a quick work through their novella's and read their standalone, Deception soon.

In Betrayed, someone wanted to assassinate Lord Raphael. Really? Who is that stupid. Raphael didn't even bat an eye, but Cynthia is worry sick as usual. They tends to always have disagreement when it comes to security issue. Is getting old. They need some new confli

What's there not to love in this novella? You have your favorite couple, new actors, actions, drama...

My only complaint is that next book is on Lucas, while I really want to know how Mr Vampire Lord think he can get out of this mess < grin >. In fact, Betrayed is not only Lucas and Raphael being betrayed, but Cyn too. And that hurt: the bitter sweet taste on the parting thought is so very real.

D.B. Reynolds provides her readers with more of their favourite couple Cyn & Raphael in Betrayed.
Always one to protect his mate, Raphael is reluctant to let Cyn participate in an investigation into threats against his life.
Cyn knows Raphael is withholding something from her, but is not prepared for the depth of his betrayal.
This short story shows even the best intentions can fracture eternal love.

I loved this novella. Cyn and Raphael are one of my favorite vampire/human couples. I love the direction Reynolds is taking with the series. This book is a setup for the next book which after reading this novella, I am extremely excited.

Reading about Raphael literally gives me butterflies. He is so smooth and so loving to Cyn but can be just as ruthless. I love it.
