In this story, there were two very different mysteries going on at the same time which made for a very interesting read. Jess, as usual, throws her self in full force to solve them both. I really like how she is so passionate about her work and once she is on to something, nothing will stop her from following it to the end.

4.25 out of 5. A marvelous, compelling, riveting suspense romance that continues the experience of law enforcement officer Jess Harris, a woman who has given her life to the cause of fighting crime, first as a federal agent and then as Deputy Chief with the Birmingham Police Department, a very real "coming home" for this hometown girl. Complications in her return center around her romantic affair with the man who is now the chief of police and who still knows that walking away from her 20 years...more

Now I have a favorite series that I will have to continue to read. In the last two days I have read the Face's of Evil 1-3. I love Jess,Lori and Harper characters.
They work well together and get things done. Jess is not making to many friends but she gets the job done.
Special Agent Jess Harris has quit the FBI and her new job is deputy chief of Birmingham's major crimes division. She has no cases yet but her people were working a death of dance teacher Darcy Chandler for the rich. She is...more

Jess is trying to get her feet under her again and start to lead her new division at Birmingham PD. Chet Harper gets a call out to investigate the death of a ballet instructor which at first glance appears to be a horrible accident but things just don't add up to Jess. The case is pulled from her team and assigned to another division by Dan which pisses Jess off. He gives her another case of a missing teen who got written off by others at BPD. While she is pissed about losing the other case she...more
POWER is the third book in Debra Webb's Faces of Evil romantic thriller series. Unlike many 'series' where each book is essentially a standalone involving different characters, the Faces of Evil series revolves around the same hero/heroine and supporting group of characters and the events in book #3 are a continuation of those in books #1 & #2, which necessitates that one read the previous two books to fully appreciate POWER.

Power is the third book of the Faces of Evil series. you would have to read the first two book before reading this book. THis book picks up were the last book left off. Jess is taking her new unit as serious as possible. But others might not take her as serious. Dan doesn't really know what to do about the things he is feeling about trying to keep Jess safe but also knowing that she is a big girl and can take care of herself. Jess is working on a Missing Boy case, but she really wants to be work...more

Jess is Back! I missed this lady, you've no idea. This is book #3 in the Faces of Evil Series and it's still going strong. I've read both #1 OBSESSION and #2 IMPULSE, and I've been waiting what feels like forever for POWER. This installment picks right up where the previous book 'Impulse' ended. Jess and Dan are still dancing around their love issue and have come to an agreement (mostly Jess's decision) that their personal and work relationship remain separate issues....more

I knew this was a series, but somehow I thought this was the first book, so I went ahead and read it. There were mentions of events that happened in the two previous books, but it wasn't enough to keep me from following the story.
Jess Harris is called when a dance student discovers her teacher's body. The case is assumed to be an accident, but Jess and some of the students and their parents believe it was a homicide. Jess is taken off the case, and is given another one, the case of a missing tee...more

I received my copy of the book this afternoon. Once I began reading it I couldn't put it down. Usually I can figure out twists or who did it fairly early in a book - not so with either of the cases Jess worked on. What I like the most with the series is Jess isn't the typical heroine that you find in most stories. She is older, knows what she wants, knows her own strengths and weaknesses, and despite the politics of her job, is determined to do the right thing - even if it Is at cost to herself...more
This is the 3rd book in the Faces of Evil series by Debra Webb. I was totally hooked when I read the 1st book Obsession, followed up by the equally good Impulse.
Jess Harris reminds me of Kyra Sedgewick’s character Brenda Lee Johnson from the TV show The Closer and she has from the moment we were introduced to her. My opinion was reinforced in Power. This book was like The Closer meets Dance Moms.

Another winner in the PoE series. Jess and Dan are at it again, or not. This time the author adds in some real social issues that only make tbe book that much better and very believable.
I love the action and fast pace of Power but then the first 2 books were the same way which is why we all got hooked. You have got to love Jess and her attitude. Dan always has her back. But will they end up together?
I truly am now feigning for book 4. I can only hope it's soon, like real, real soon.

i have been hooked since book 1 first off let me say that the bright covers first attreacted me to the series, i had to buy all 3 at once because i knew from reading the back i would want to read the next one as soon as i finished, book 4 has just came out i havent gotten to read it yet, but i will very soon. and post a review.for anyone guessing if they should pick up this series, YES!!!!
Webb's plot development is tight and well-paced, and her characters are complex. I enjoyed this read, but rather than chasing the characters down, I felt they were leading me along. I would have liked to get into the characters' heads a little bit more. If it were a movie, it would have been more of an action flick than a suspense or romantic thriller.
I really enjoyed this book. I did not find any bit of it boring. It was like watching a movie in that it was action-packed and kept me guessing the entire time.
Apparently there were a couple of books written before this one about Jess Harris, the main character in the book. I have not read any of the previous books, yet I did not feel lost. This can be read alone, or following the other books. I suggest reading the first books first though, because this one is good and I imagine they are too. I...more

This edition of Faces of Evil was better than the others I have read. The character's were better developed and the writing of them and the scenes were better able to be visualized. The storyline was also better with it seems like more thought was put into it.
This book was free from the GoodReads First Reads Giveaway and this is my honest review of the book.

I won this book as a goodreads giveaway about one month ago and finally got a chance to read it. I felt it was a tiny bit slow moving and slightly choppy. It was the first book of the series I had read and I would recommend reading the books in order to prohibit that from happening. The main character was likeable-however, I did not really like anyone else except for maybe Jess' sister.
In any event, I would recommend reading the book as it was suspenseful.

This is a free read from Goodreads First Reads. I wish I had read the previous books, I felt a little lost at times but that said everything else about the book was great. I will definitely be reading the other books. Felt a connection with this author. Thank you for a great new series to sink into.
