I am only putting this one up here just because there are so many Elizabeth Peters/ Amelia Peabody mysteries that I don't want to clog this shelf. But this is an especially good one. Amelia Peabody is an Egyptologist who, along with her Egyptologist husband Radcliffe Emerson, spends an awful lot of time getting involved in murder and antiquities theft plots while on excavations in Egypt. The stories take place in the late 19th and early 20th century, and Amelia Peabody is quite the forward thi...more

My favourite Amelia Peabody book. These books are just such fun to read, they are light and amusing, though this is probably the darkest one which explains why it's my favourite. I raced through it in a day or two and I have to admit, Ramses was particularly appealing in this book, there was a definite brooding hero air about him. If you're knew to the series, don't read this one first, get to know the characters first by reading at least the book before. Thunder in the Sky is really the conclud...more

Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody series of books are a delightful read; her books are hard to put down once you start them. To date she has written about eighteen Egyptology mysteries and I've enjoyed most of them. I found "He Shall Thunder in the Sky" especially intriguing because it takes place at the outset of World War I and the history combined with her well-loved cast of characters keeps you turning page after page.

I'm going to cheat and copy and paste my review of this series to all of the books that I have read from it.
The Amelia Peabody books are amazing. Well written and funny in a subtle sort of way. These are usually the books sitting on my nightstand that I cozy up with before bed. Sometimes I do need to take a break and read a different book, then come back to the series.

This was lovely - what a great resolution to the relationship between Ramses and Nefret, and a truly tense mystery. I think has possibly been my favourite of the series so far - it has a different feeling than the previous books, and is a lot darker, with the war on their doorstep, and a great deal at stake with Ramses' activities - I loved it.

I 'read' this book as an audiobook on my ipod. The Amelia Peabody mysteries are wonderul in their silliness andthis one is no exception. Ramses is now a grownup and becomes a more seious part of the Emerson family adventure team. These are great light reading.

This book deserves 6 stars
Left me in a daze of joy. Ramses is the hottest thing ever put in print. Damn.

I'm just goofy over Amelia Peabody and her adventures. The first book in this series will make you laugh out loud. These are great romps for anyone who has imagined themselves in Egypt looking for treasure.

The first of this series I read (who needs chronology - but I was a little confused). The writing is much better in these later books, but it was even better after reading some of the earlier stuff.

After my angry episode with the previous book, I decided to keep reading. I am now quite curious as to what will happen in the books to come, as many loose ends were tied up here.

This is part of a favorite series. Amelia is a strong character who gives insight into Egyptian life, basics of archeology, and is witty too.

A shift away from the usual archaeology scene (which is refreshing), and the ending is definitely a love letter to fans of the series.

My favorite Peabody book yet. Loose ends are finally tied and there is satisfaction at last. I was sad when I finished this book.

The high point of the Amelia Peabody series. Yes, it's smack in the middle, and there are a lot of books, but so worth the effort.
