5 Stars! I ADORED this book - and series!

I am so sorry my time with the Taylor siblings has come to an end. Each of these books rated 5 stars with me. This last book, Lethal Legacy is about the middle Taylor sibling, Cole. Cole has been a present in each of his siblings’ stories and in this book we will finally see him find the woman he is meant to spend the rest of his life with and find out why he lost his faith.

I am so sorry my time with the Taylor siblings has come to an end. Each of these books rated 5 stars with me. This last book, Lethal Legacy is about the middle Taylor sibling, Cole. Cole has been a present in each of his siblings’ stories and in this book we will finally see him find the woman he is meant to spend the rest of his life with and find out why he lost his faith.

Kelly’s father committed suicide; well that is at least what the police department determined. She is not convinced, even though her father was diagnosed with cancer he had determination to fight the disease – however the police determined he committed suicide by a combination of drugs, alcohol and carbon monoxide. Months later Kelly receives a shipment of tulip bulbs with an attached note dated the day before his death from her father stating he will help her plant these bulbs and enjoy the blooms with her in the Spring. Kelly is convinced it is proof he was murdered, who would send a note like that the day before killing yourself. She goes to police headquarters with the note, but the detective in charge of her father’s case is on vacation – so Cole Taylor is asked to speak with her.

Cole is not convinced the note is enough to open her father’s case again. But he does feel a connection with Kelly – however Cole is determined to keep his work life and personal life separate. Cole resolve is tested one day when is leaving the hospital after gathering information on a different case and he realizes Kelly is being brought into the emergency room for treatment for a life threatening allergic reaction. Is this an accident, or does someone want Kelly to stop digging for facts.

This is the third and last book in the Guardian’s of Justice series, it can be read as a stand alone book. However I recommend reading the other books in the series first for the greatest possible enjoyment. Each of the Taylor siblings and their significant others appear in this book, knowing their background stories enhance the scenes where they are all together. (for example there are references to Alison’s lack of talent for making coffee that are just funnier if you read her story) This book has suspense, a plot that twists and turns, some check-ins with previous characters and a glimpse on how Cole finds his faith again. I LOVE Irene Hannon’s romantic suspense and preordered this book, the date of release was on my calendar. The only thing I would do is add a Taylor cousin that Irene can write a book about so I can check in with the Taylor family again! Irene has a whole new series starting early 2013 and I will be preordering that title as soon as it is available.

Irene Hannon is amazing. She is quickly becoming my favorite Christian Romantic Suspense author, and the latest book about the Taylor siblings only adds to the reasons why.

When Kelly's father commits suicide, she can't believe it, especially when she receives a birthday gift he bought for her the day before he died. If you’re looking for a keeper, this is it! Being the third installment in this author’s ‘Guardians of Justice’ series, fans will note that each novel seems to be better than the last. Ultimate suspense writer, Irene Hannon, in Lethal Legacy, brings us another high energy, double twisted set of circumstances, and additional evidence that indicates more is involved than first recognized. She does a great job of interweaving the threads of the evidence pointing to murder along with the additional action that is taking place behind the scenes that is initially covered up until further examination.

Irene has compelling characters that seem to take over every page, whether romantically or through perilous situations. Neither Detective Cole and his partners nor Kelly will rest till they find out the truth. Suspects are gleaned through the investigations, but proof is non-existent until a well-known name pops up. I was thrown for a loop when I found out about John Warren’s background. Never saw it coming. Though we know a lot of information, Irene is keenly able to keep up the suspense of proving any connection before Kelly’s life is in danger.

Police procedures, APBs, BOLO alerts, investigations, and sting operations were written with precise detail. Details of the well-know individual are played out superbly and yet painfully when it came to an estranged and strife-filled family relationship.

Kelly’s faith is a major part of her life, and though she is attracted to Detective Cole, she knows he must be a believer if she wants to pursue the relationship, but he has an angry, estranged relationship with God. How the author brings Cole back to his faith is done in such a manner as to expose the reader to the love and mercy of God.

Some of the action seemed to slow down at times, which was a little difficult to keep me interested, but Irene was able to pick up the pace again with new and critical circumstances.

If you like romantic suspense, then you’ll want to read Lethal Legacy. Irene Hannon has created a story with a strong spiritual heroine, a soul searching hero, and a cast of supporting characters from her prior two novels in the series “Guardians of Justice”. This is the third book in the series. The author has done a good job in developing the characters and their emotions.
Kelly Warren doesn’t believe her father would ever kill himself. He was a Christian and would never even consider suicide. The detective in charge of the case does close the case based on the evidence, and it is ruled a suicide. Kelly receives new information on the case. She goes to the police with this evidence, but the detective who handled the case is on vacation so Detective Cole Taylor speaks with her. She finds the detective good-looking and with a polite and caring attitude.
Cole listens to Ms. Warren, but doesn’t believe she has enough evidence to reopen the case. He finds Kelly attractive and intelligent. He promises to look into the case for her. As he looks over the case file for background information, he discovers some oddities that he investigates. He keeps in touch with Kelly fairly regularly keeping her updated on his progress. He finally has enough evidence to reopen the case. Kelly also contacts Cole often to relay any new information she discovers as she searches her father’s house for more evidence.
As the case progresses, so do the feelings between Kelly and Cole. Cole and Kelly agree not to pursue a relationship until the case is solved. But Cole walked away from God five years ago, and even though Kelly has strong feelings for Cole, if he doesn’t have faith in God, she won’t pursue a relationship with Cole. Why did he turn his back on God? During the course of further investigation, readers get to see the interaction between Cole and his family, Kelly and her best friend as well as a criminal and his family. Is Kelly’s father a victim of homicide? Is he the person she thought he was? Why has someone attacked Kelly? Can Cole keep her safe before it’s too late? Can Cole learn to trust God again?
Fans of mystery, suspense and intrigue will want to pick up a copy of this book. So set aside some time for a good story and prepare to be entertained.
My rating is four stars out of five.

Cole Taylor is one of the detectives involved in solving Kelly's fathers death. He wants to believe that it was a suicide but he has strong convictions.

Kelly Warren knows that her father did not commit suicide and now she believes she has proof. On her birthday, five months after her father's death, she receives a gift he bought the day before his death. Tulip bulbs, with a note telling her he looks forward to planting them with her. Would a man who was planning on killing himself, look forward to the future, it concreted her belief that he did not die at his own hands. Convincing the police is another story, but she has to try.

The police ruled Kelly Warren’s father’s death a suicide. However, she did not believe that so she went hunting for proof that her father was murdered. She got the proof and brought it to police headquarters. Now the investigation has been reopened from suicide to murder and Kelly’s life is now in great danger. Cole needs to catch the killer before he makes Kelly his next victim. As always with an Irene Hannon novel there is mounting suspense that seems to squeeze the breath out of you. In “Lethal Legacy” Ms. Hannon seems to have written her best story yet. Kelly’s life in great jeopardy and this thriller becomes more and more exciting with the last hundred pages being an extremely wild ride. All I can say is imagine going on a roller coaster ride. At the beginning there is just the climb to the top but once you get to the top and experience that first drop then it is nothing but twists, turns, upside down loops until the ride ends. This is what Ms. Hannon does to us as readers with this book.

In ”Lethal Legacy” the theme of family relationships, and how they can impact a person’s entire life, runs throughout the book—affecting both the good guys and the bad guys! Family matters—that’s a key message of this book. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer who knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!

But don't let the fact that this book is number three in this series scare you away from reading it if you haven't read any of the other books. It makes a great stand-alone with mentions of characters and their happily ever afters from the previous books, but no real spoilers to keep you from going back and reading them. Lethal Legacy can easily stand on it's own, but it is a part of a great romantic suspense series so I suggest if you read this one, you go back and read the others as well!

As usual Ms. Hannon works wonders with her characters. I felt connections to Cole who I met in an earlier book but really got to know in this book and to Kelly who is mourning the loss of her father and dead set on finding who killed him. It is her doggedness that leads her to meet Cole and their meeting seems serendipitous. First Cole is a great investigator and if he can find something he will and second, he feels an instant attraction for Kelly and she feels one for him. Of course to be a romance a problem more than the suspense element has to work it's way in and in this novel it's the fact that Cole has moved away from God and Kelly is a devout and caring Christian. But I like that Kelly never shoves Cole to the side, she cares enough to want to understand and help him like a real Christian would. I have loved all of the romances in Ms. Hannnon's books, but I think this is one of the best. I felt the romance more in this one, felt it was more of an element even with the suspense playing a starring role.

And the suspense, wow, it's great again. We get a peek at the overall bad guy and eventually the hit man and it's surprising, but even with this knowledge, there are still many surpises in store with the book. I pretty much eagerly awaited the end of my workday on Tuesday and encouraged my husband to work late so I could finish this in one sitting. It's just that good.

The suspense is edge of your seat. The romance is just awe-inspiring. Both work so well together to make this one of Irene Hannon's best books to date and that is saying something. I think I have been reading all of her books since 2010 and have loved each one, but this one really resonated with me as a book I loved. If you enjoy romantic suspense this is an excellent choice for your next book to pick up. It has Christian elements, but they are not overwhelming, and they are very well-done. Ms. Hannon is a master at writing a book that doesn't personify the Christians as perfect people and I like that. So give Lethal Legacy a try, it's a great page-turner with a great side of romance to make it a perfect novel for the lover of romantic suspense!(less)

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. There are many things I loved about this book. I enjoyed the characters, and I thought the story line was well written. I ended up dropping this down from 4 stars due to the what has now become irritating habit of making the characters very forward when it comes to the romantic side. Another fantastic book by Irene Hannon. I love this series-Guardians of Justice and this is book 3 the final. Each of these books talks about one family, two sons and one daughter and how they all are in the Justice system.
This book Lethal Legacy is about the youngest son Cole and how he meets Kelly and they together solve the mystery surrounding her father’s death. The police believe it is suicide, but Kelly doesn’t believe it.

My thoughts: WOW! A closed case with new information brought to light that leads to further unsettling incidences and coincidences. Skepticism gives way to tenacity as they probe deeper and deeper into the case.

Detective Cole Taylor takes a call from Kelly Warren whose father's death was ruled a suicide by the department. Kelly has new information that she believes confirms her intuitive opinion that her father absolutely did not commit suicide. Out of courtesy to a grieving only relative of the deceased man, Kelly who is stunningly beautiful, detective Taylor investigates. They further pursue a re-do of the scene of the death - her father's home.

Events turn deadly when Kelly reacts to her deadly peanut allergy at a location where there should not have been any peanut allergens. Fast forward....... things begin to enliven and move at a quicker pace as the killer tries to take the killing to a newer level.

A beautiful lady who is in harms way. A determined detective who sees her as a potential romantic interest. An effort to maintain true professionalism during the investigation. Irene Hannon brings her Guardians of Justice series to a romantic and suspenseful ending with Lethal Legacy. Each one of the books in the series has been awesome—though, personally, Deadly Pursuit tops them all for me! All of the books I’ve read by Hannon have an intense, pulse-pounding and thrilling adventure that is sure to make stay awake late into the night!

Irene Hannon has a way of grabbing you and taking you on a ride of twists and turns, adding in some romance along the way. This is the 3rd and final book of the Guardian series. Sad to see it end.

In the final installment, Kelly doesn't believe her father has committed suicide and when she receives a birthday gift after his death, she is positive he was murdered.

Cole doesn't find much credence to her claim, until she gets sick and is in the hospital. He then thinks he better check this out.

The books can be read as stand-alone novels, but read the series to develop a real kinship with these characters and their interactions with each other. Cole, a former devout Christian, has turned his back on God due to a senseless killing (detailed in the book). He tries to fill the void in his life with making the rounds of Friday night happy hours. His sister Alison, in particular, is determined to get him back on the straight and narrow...by getting him to church and by finding the perfect woman for him to settle down with. Cole, who tends to be blunt and outspoken, bristles at her interference in his affairs.

Enter Kelly Warren - a young woman whose father committed suicide (at least that is what the detective who investigated the case says. Kelly feels her father was murdered). Cole is skeptical, at first, but encourages Kelly to search her father's home for clues. An old wallet leads to a witness protection program, a dirty cop with a gambling addiction, and a third-generation Mafia don with a long memory and a grudge.

As Cole works to solve the case, he falls in love with Kelly along the way and finally spills the awful secret that has haunted him for over four years. Kelly's supportive response causes Cole to rethink his attitude about God's love and caring in our lives. An especially amusing scene involves Kelly and Cole's accidental meeting in a restaurant....where Alison is present and determined to discover as many details about their soon-to-be-relationship as possible.

But the Mafia knows how to cover its tracks and dispense their own brand of retaliation to those who fail them. Dirty cop Alan Carlson never meant to get involved with the Mafia, but his gambling debts were so huge that he grasps for a lifeline of easy money - a lifeline that turns into a noose. His only alternative is to kidnap and kill the person who has brought on his downfall and put his life in the crosshairs of professional assassins....one Kelly Warren...

Irene Hannon is my favorite author because she brings about the perfect blend of suspense, humor, and romance. A perfect choice for fans of Terri Blackstock, Dee Henderson, Lynette Eason, or the television series "NCIS" or "Blue Bloods".

I LOOVED MEETING THIS FAMILY!

Oh, yes the Taylors are definitely a GREAT bunch and I absolutely loved meeting them in the Guardians of Justice series! Seriously.

What a pleasant surprise it was to witness more funny, heart-warming family moments in the last book, which had me grinning every time I re-read them.

People, I love them!

Kudos to Hannon because she really does know how to develop her characters and make a reader fall for them. (And we’re excluding the evil ones in this!)

When Protector Turns Predator

Kelly Warren’s persistence in proving her father’s death was not a suicide puts her own life in danger. Working closely with Detective Cole Taylor, the pieces slowly come together. But will it be in time to prevent another murder?

The story is well written, imaginative, and addicting. The characters are alive and vibrant through clever storytelling and changing circumstances.

The more books I read by Irene Hannon, the bigger of a fan I become. Hannon writes romantic suspense at its best. Lethal Legacy is the third book in the Guardians of Justice series.
