Things aren't always what they seem.

Devani Daniels learned that lesson the second a mysterious envelope was placed in her hands at a local blood drive. Little did she know that this seemingly innocent gesture would not only lead her into a whole new world, but to a reunion with Roman, a special friend from her past. Devani Daniels is a typical young woman. She works at a bookstore and loves to read vampire novels. So when she gets an invitation to try out a new book club, she is in for a surprise to find out it’s really a lure to invite humans who are willing to give up their blood to feed vampires. These Sanguines want to nourish but not hurt anyone. Devani is special because she has a rare blood type. Unbeknownst to her, she has been specially chosen by a man from her past, a man whose passion for Devani ...more

Melissa R Smith’s Legacy is the second book in the Sanguine series and it is part one of a two part series. It is very much a standalone book and if you haven’t read Six Hours to Sunrise, you won’t be left trying to backtrack since Legacy introduces a new set of characters and takes places in a different location.

Six Hours to Sunrise addresses the issue of Sanguines living among us and what it’s like to grow up unaware of them. Legacy touches on the relationships between the Militia and Sanguine

Devani Daniels has been a blood donor for a long time, due to her rare blood type, she is always in high demand from the local hospital. However, her workplace is in a competition with other stores, to have the most employees donate at the blood drive. Little does she know that her entire life will be changed at the blood drive, thanks to an invitation from a mysterious nurse. Roman has been in existence for several centuries, but the past two and a half decades have been torturous. He is ...more

I read six hours to sunrise first and I thought it was amazing! Well... legacy is just as amazing! Melissa R Smith just knows how to make you fall in love with the characters! I felt so strongly for Roman and was just rooting for him and Devani, hoping for their happily ever after! I feel like big things will happen with this series, so much more of the story needs to be told, and i cant wait to find out what events might transpire.
When the book finished, I'll be honest I was mad... I felt like

I know writing is a tough business, so I hate to leave negative comments about any book. This one, though, was such a disappointment. Six Hours to Sunrise was great, which was what made me buy Legacy. Unfortunately, Legacy switched between past and present tense on every page, not to mention it was full of typos and misspelled words. This book desperately needed editing and proofreading. I didn't connect with the characters or story, but I can't say whether I would have if the writing had been ...more

I really wanted to give this author a chance, but after seeing her make fun of a review on her own personal website really turned me off from her. Main characters don't met up until 75% of the book has been read and then they don't even talk. Not worth the time and effort and not giving this author any more chances. Again she needs to hire a professional editor.

I've been writing for about twelve years now, beginning with fanfiction. I published my first book in 2001, with a revised version in 2004.

My hope is to find a good following of readers who enjoy my work. I try to write stories that feature strong female characters, usually over the age of 25. I also keep my sexual content to a minimum, for those who prefer less erotic and more romantic.
