One day I woke up and realized I had been in a bubble for fourteen years. In less than a day my whole world fell apart. I didn’t have a white picket fence, but by all accounts I had the "perfect" relationship. In a moment my fairytale was over and I thought I’d never catch my breath.

Have you ever read a book, set it down, and felt like you had just been starring into a mirror for hours? My life is complicated. My regular readers know that very well. I never knew what it would look like in pri

Well, I wrote this book so hard to review myself.

To be honest I wrote it because when I went through my divorce there weren't many books available showing me someone's experiences and overcoming the situation. I decided to be honest and forthright so that I could help others going through what I went through.

The book was my first and it sparked me to become a writer. I just finished my first novel which will launch in April. My first novel is called Beatrice Munson.

This book is fun, will keep y

This is one of the first book I ever won on the Goodreads First-Reads Giveaway, and I had it sitting there to read, but it kept getting pushed to the side by other things, another cozy and what not. I feel bad that I let it sit, but I did finally get to it, and finished it quickly!

It is a really good read for anyone who is divorcing, single or just not feeling like life is going right. I enjoyed her sense of humor, her honesty and the way she put everything out on the table and told you what she

In the span of three years, Lorena Bathey went through a divorce from her husband after 11 years together, her mother died of ovarian and breast cancer, and her father remarried within a few months of her mother’s death; she also faced the prospect of reentering the workforce after more than a decade on the outside.

Happy Beginnings is Bathey’s story of picking up the pieces of her life post-marital breakup and fitting them back together to make a whole new picture after much trial and error, inc

About a week ago I was first introduced to Lorena Bathey’s work via Tomoson. I started off reviewing her book the “X”. Now I have finally finished reading another one of her books, Happy Beginnings: How I Became My Own Fairy Godmother. It took me a few days to read as it is really emotional and on a different level than the “X” yet it is a good read still. In this book Lorena tells her own story of dealing with divorce. She encounters various difficulties and challenges on her way to divorce. Ho ...more

I honestly was unsure I could relate to the book, having never been through a divorce, but there is much more to the book. Its an encouragement to all woman-single, married, or divorced to make your own magic! There are some ups in downs in all our lives but if we learn through it all we will have an experience like nothing we could imagine.

I was fortunate to win a copy of this book on Goodreads!

Wow, what a fun book! This is a memoir/autobiography about a woman who is abruptly left by her husband after 11 years of marriage, and forced to start over. In the process of taking it day by day (and learning again and again what seems to be her big life lesson - patience) she discovers herself, and that she is all she ever needed.

As a past victim of my own "LCS" (Lying Cheating Scum - love it!) I related so much to the emotions in this bo

Happy Beginnings was both sweet and bittersweet. Told from the first person perspective, Happy Beginnings is a memoir of the author's own life after divorce, and how she put her heart back together and moved on. I really enjoyed reading about Lorena's trips abroad, especially to Rome; and it was admirable to read from the author's own perspective, and read about both her strengths as well as her weaknesses. Any woman would enjoy this book, but women who are going through divorce may be particula ...more

Won this book from First Reads here on Goodreads! Interesting, what would you do if being in your late 30's, one day out of the blue your husband says he is leaving? I was so mad at that character how could a husband do that to his wife?? Expecting her to just say ok or what!? Got me going right away and was pleasantly surprised how the book progressed from there.
Looking forward to the new book from Lorena Bathey.

I won this book from Goodreads, and I was surprised at how much I laughed and felt her emotions. The book is about the author's travels thru a divorce and the process of healing, growing, and becoming a new person. Great read for anyone going thru or who as been thru a divorce.

Absolutely loved it. She makes you laugh, she makes you sad, but just like her you get through it and out the other side. This is where you learn that you must have taken that path to get to the person that you are today.

What if you came home from vacation thinking everything was fine in your life and marriage and was great. Then find out that your husband is leaving you? This is what happened to the author of in this wonderful book,"How I Became my own fairy godmother" by Lorena Bathey.

It is about her divorce after 11 years of marriage. Which is a long time to be married to someone and have to rug pulled in under you.How to eventually find and love yourself again after this life changing experience happens. Some

I was given the opportunity to review Happy Beginnings: How I Became My Own Fairy Godmother by Lorena Bathey. This is a personal memoir detailing the author’s issues throughout her divorce and her entry into single life. While I have been neither married nor divorced, I was 18 when my own parents ended their marriage. I was old enough to see what was going on from an adult perspective.

There were times throughout Happy Beginnings that I saw my mother’s struggles reflected in the story. Although,

I like reading real life stories or stories which can be an eye opener. Recently I got a copy of book named Happy Beginnings for review purpose. In this book Author has described her real life account of how she gave her life a fresh start after getting divorce.

I enjoyed reading this book. Author has explained real life situations in such a vivid manner that it made me think about love and life. I was thinking how a person feels when his/her partner just casually say that I want divorce after sp

Personally, I was amazed when I requested to review this book because I am not an avid reader to be quite honest with you. Therefore, I felt not being one, this book should and will get a very honest opinion. In reading the brief synopsis of this book it was about all the things that I knew would interest me, and keep me awake (reading puts me to sleep). I am divorced myself, and on similar circumstances, but mine were a bit different, but everyone has their own story don't we? I felt Lorena's ...more

I guess I was expecting a "novel" but got a diary/journal instead. The author is blindsided by her LCS (lying, cheating, scumbag) husband after two children and eleven years of marriage. What bothered me the most was that she was FRANTIC to find another BF/husband and so made many teenage mistakes. It took her a long time to figure out the dating game rules. I was perplexed that she even wanted to jump into the "man pool" again after the LCS left. Why would she want another man to clean for, coo ...more
