The Road of Things to Come challenged me in a way that no other book has for a long time. Each page seemed to spark a new revelation; yet the fire was extinguished after only the edges of my epiphany were ignited.

For me, it is difficult to pinpoint the message that The Road of Things to Come is communicating. To begin with this was a horror story and while the elements of horror remained throughout, author Benson Phillip Lott, went on to incorporate the gothic

Review of The Road of Things to Come by Benson Phillip Lott

A Twilight Zone type story of a sheriff who picks up a patient who has escaped the state hospital for the 4th or 5th time. He finds him walking down Shepard's Pass, a road that has been closed by the town under mysterious circumstances. The patient has amnesia and feels the pull of the road. A crash into a ditch occurs on the way back to the state hospital and a strange story of what happens on the road ensues and the sherriff and the patient.

The story itself was good but I think it needed more

After that, confusion settled in and stayed with me to the end. I don't understand what happened. Maybe I would have if the story was longer and more developed, but alas, this is a short story.

I'm giving it 2 stars simply because, I just

A cross between a Twilight Zone episode and a ghost story told around a campfire. The author was wise to keep it short.
