Honest to goodness, Rachael Anderson is one of my favorite clean romantic writers and this book is my favorite. It just made me feel, well, happy. Happy, happy, happy. Like sunshine and lollipops. Well, maybe not lollipops, more like sunshine and chocolate.

It's no secret that this book falls into my favorite genre. What I love about this book is that it is witty and fun. It's easy to read and just feels real. You know? I love the dynamics between Taycee and Luke. Chemistry. Yum.

Love... love... LOVE The Reluctant Bachelorette! It's the second book by Rachael Anderson that I have read and I can tell you she is definitely becoming one of my favorite authors! It's so easy to forget about life with all it's stress and just get lost in her books.

So, so good. You can never go wrong with a Rachael Anderson book. This may be my favorite of hers so far. Even though it’s a little cheesy, my husband and I love to watch The Bachelor. Such a good read. Loved the characters (some I wanted to hit once in a while) I like the new little twist this was on the story of falling in love with your brother's best friend. If you are looking for an escape from reality for a little bit then read it. Liked that it was told in the lead girl and lead boy perspectives one of my favorite things in books. Cute read glad I took the time to read it. :)

I enjoy a good romance, especially when it is considered a ‘clean romance.’ Although the characters are not acting upon every urge they might have, there is still expression of desires and longings. They are just more about wanting to be physical close to that person as they desire the connection and intimacy than the prevalent sexual agendas in many mainstream books and movies.

Taycee lives in a community of small family farms who are struggling to remain alive in a slow economy. Taycee's best friend, Jessa, calls in an undisclosed favor. Jessa has cast Taycee as the bachelorette in an online program to raise funds to help the farmers. Taycee isn’t comfortable with the whole idea but once announced she has no way out without letting down the whole town.

To add to Taycee’s dismay, her old crush, Luke, has just moved back to town. Before realizing she is the Bachelorette, Taycee nominates Luke to participate in the bachelor pool. The audience will get to vote on the 21 bachelors, not Taycee. Once she gets Luke included Taycee then schemes to get him voted off before she realizes there may be hope for them after all. She becomes even more conflicted as Jessa insists that the dates “step up the romance.”

The bachelors include some characters that make for fun problems. Among the men are an arrogant, self centered but handsome guy that the audience really likes; a likeable rodeo, good ‘ole boy who is lots of fun; a nice guy who spits when he talks; and a sweet, warm business man who really clicks with Taycee and the audience. (I really liked Jake and hope that there may be a story for him.) The dates are sometimes awkward but mostly fun. But do any of these eager beaus have a chance with Luke in town?

I loved the fun, clean romance. The characters are nicely developed with very real reactions. Ms. Anderson does a great job of keeping the reader engaged with plenty of romantic conflict and tension without any need for spicy sexual content. There are ethical and emotional dilemmas, joyful moments and heartache. Jessa uses guilt to get Taycee into the program and to keep her going beyond what is comfortable or fair. I was intrigued to see how everyone would react when the mess was exposed.

The writing flows really well with lots of natural dialogue and humor. Several times I thought how life-like the story was with the misunderstandings, disappointments, ethical and emotion conflicts. This is a very enjoyable romance that is sure to get you chuckling.

This was such a cute book! It was a fun mix of reality shows and real life. I felt so bad for poor Taycee. I liked that she had some flaws and was able to acknowledge them. Taycee really had a good heart, and I wanted her to be very happy. Being on a Bachelorette-type show was very out of Taycee's comfort zone, but she did it for love of her town. I liked that Taycee always wanted to do what was right by other people, but she seemed to be thwarted by various things going on. Luke was someone you could get attached to easily too. He was smart and fun, and you could see that he and Taycee had something going from the start.

I breezed through this book very quickly. It was fun to read, and it kept me interested throughout. There weren't any huge surprises in this book, but that's not what this book was about. It was a fun way to escape for a bit. Another thing I loved (and this may seem random), but the chapters were mostly on the shorter side. This made it easy to sneak in some reading in between feeding kids and vacuuming and everything else I do in the day without having to stop in the middle of important things. Of course, I didn't want to stop at all, but that's another issue altogether. Overall this was a very cute book that will have you cheering for Taycee and hoping for an awesome romance for her.

The Reluctant Bachelorette by Rachael Anderson was a lot of fun to read! It was entertainingly written, easy to read, very real and offered a lot of lovable characters! It was one of these books which leaves you with genuinely positive feeling while reading and after finishing it. I loved it!

Plot:

The plot is taken out of the TV version of The Barchelorette with few differences. Taycee is plotted to be the bachelorette of the town where she lives. Each vote brings money to the town. Taycee is not very fond about the idea, but decides to along with the idea.

She needs to start dating all the bachelors and this is where it gets complicated. One of the bachelors is a local guy who has returned to his home town. Taycee used to have crush on him. Luke does not like the idea of being one of the bachelors either, but when he realizes that he is attracted to Taycee, he wants to stay in the game. Taycee tries to trick him out by organizing different obstacles to get people voting him out. Their game with each other continues until they understand, that they are made for each other. Besides that, Taycee still must date other participating guys and that creates more trouble than both of them knows how to handle.

It was so much fun to read! The dialogue was funny, the comical situation were very well created and described. I spent quite a lot of time giggling while reading. The author has very good sense of everyday humor and humorous situations, it was pleasure to read it.

Characters:

I think Rachael Anderson did a wonderful job with creating bunch of bachelors who participated at the contest. They were all colorful, vivid and special. The characteristics, also not so good ones, were believable and seemed real. What I also liked was that the bachelor candidates weren't all through stereotypical.

I liked how the relationship between Taycee and Luke developed. How they fought against each other and how it grew into attraction. it was cute and sweet romance.

Generally:

The Reluctant Bachelorette is a sweet contemporary romance which makes you laugh, giggle and it entertains it worth of all 316 pages. It's fun, enjoyable and you will definitely love it!

Because it wasn't introduced right away, I didn't know why Taycee was so mad at Luke, and I was confused when the story switched to his perspective and I found out that Luke isn't such a bad guy. This made me it harder for me to sympathize with Taycee when the matter comes to it. It would have been nice to have this issue resolved earlier in the story.

The story wasn't really fleshed out either. From the synopsis, I was expecting the story to focus more on the show and the drama between Taycee and Luke. However, this plays a small role in the story. Rather, it is more about Taycee worrying over Luke's participation in the show and their attraction to each other. The story tries to cover too much over too few pages with Taycee dividing her attention among the different bachelors while plotting to get Luke off the show, and then finding herself enjoying her time with Luke too much. In the end, I didn't really get to know the characters other than Taycee and Luke.

The romance is clean. There is kissing, but even that is much cleaner than many YA books I've read that target a younger audience. So is the language. There isn't anything to prevent me from recommending this book to younger readers except for the bachelorette angle to this book. It wouldn't feel right giving a book to a younger teen where the girl dates twenty-one guys at once. I also don't believe in forcing friends to participate in a reality show even if it is for a good cause, though it does set the stage for much drama and humor.

Overall, this is a fun, light read with a fair amount of laugh out loud moments. Traycee has a wonderful sense of humor. As I mentioned earlier, I loved the banter between Luke and her. If you're looking for a clean, pleasant read with humor, this may be a book you'd like to check out.

The Reluctant Bachelorette is a fun contemporary romance. Taycee is hilarious and I had a great time reading her story. Everyone has had—or at least knows someone who has—a jerk in the past who broke their heart in a million pieces and became afraid of committing again. I know I did. But it is possible to trust and love and commit again. We see this story through both Taycee’s and Luke’s point of view and it is impossible not to root for them to be together again. The characters grow on you and you so want to stop Taycee for messing up with Luke’s chances in the competition. She has 21 guys courting her when she show begins and I’d love to see the footage of some of her dates, just so I could laugh it with again! A chick-lit at its best, definitely.(less)

I loved this book! If you are looking for a fun, clean, romantic book, then this is definitely for you!

So many farmers in the town of Shelter Springs, Colorado are not making it financially. Many people have had to leave their farms, and many more are in danger of losing their farms (including Jessa's beloved aunt and uncle). Jessa and Taycee are best friends who love their town and will do (almost) anything to save it!

This book is amazing.
Everyone says that about a heap of books, i know. It's not that special anymore, but for me, this is the new "Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys".
I loved that book, and this is even better! I read the book last yr *finding out when*. SUPRISE, SUPRISE! I read it last yr Oct 30 - 31. It's basically been exactly a year :D

This was a cute story, a bit of a break from my paranormal/end of the world trend ... completely clean (which is rare in romances today). I actually like historical romances, contemporary isn't quite my thing.

This book reminded me of an early-2000s rom-com, and I mean that in the best possible way. It was fun and light, and yes, occasionally far-fetched, but that was okay.

First, let me start by telling you that I have a special affection for this book because I won Rachel's "name the town" contest! She held a contest on her blog. And my town - Shelter Springs got the most votes! It is soo cool reading a book that has a town that I named! AND... the book was good!

I love, love, loved this book! The moment I picked it up I couldn't put it down until every word had been devoured. The characters are well developed and multifaceted. They make you laugh, cry and sigh with them! A must read for all lovers of fun, clean romances, like me. :)

I expected this book to be cheesy, simple, and predictable, like most clean romance novels. I was pleasantly surprised! I've read enough of that genre to find most such novels tie things up a little too neatly, and are a bit too sweet. Not so in this story. There was some real drama, it wasn't overly predictable, and I found the romance to be what it should be- enchanting and full of butterflies. I read this because of reviews I found on here. A couple of friends read it and raved about it. But honestly I was a little disappointed it. Maybe it was because the reviews I read raised my expectations, but I was frustrated with a lot of parts of this book.

The main one being Jessa. That girl drove me nuts. She was a horrible friend. Volunteering her best friend to be on a bachelorette show without asking her? Yeah right. I would have been so angry.

Most of us remember that childhood crush. That unrequited love we had for a friend's older sibling or an older sibling's friend. I know I had one or four. I've even been able to stay in touch with one or two to see how they've grown & changed.

OK, here's my major "what?!" with the book. Someone 'falls in love' at age 14 with a guy she's never dated and can't get over him. So. Not. Real. Ever. They didn't even date. She had a crush on her brother's best friend that left for college. Then, she gets hurt because he never wrote or called. This is puppy love. I kept thinking she must have been older and that they'd dated. Nope. Nothing. She just liked him and has carried a torch all these years.

It didn’t take much convincing for me to read The Reluctant Bachelorette, and I’m glad I did. It was a thoroughly refreshing, fun read!

You’ve probably watched The Bachelorette or even The Bachelor reality TV series on ABC. The Reluctant Bachelorette follows their format on a much smaller scale. Not for personal gain and glory, but for a good cause.

Oh how I LOVE a good romantic comedy. Kath, this book did not disappoint. You have to know it's good when you have a very handsome hubby sitting by you on the couch(who you are completly ignoring) and this same hubby keeps asking "What are you laughing at?"

I really enjoyed Taycee. I wasn't sure about Luke during certain parts, but ended up falling for him too! I think Jessa needed to take some best friend lessons, but also realize that Taycee allowed that dynamic to happen over and over. The si...more

I definitely love this book! This is the first book of Miss Anderson's that I have read and I do not regret it one bit!! I love the whole 'The Bachelorette' concept mixed with all the elements of the story that the author has written vividly and with so much emotion.
