Luke Carney has no idea what possessed him to move back to Shelter Springs, Colorado, to set up his veterinarian practice. His parents have long since left, the small farming community is on the brink of extinction, and only one close friend from his childhood remains--Taycee Emerson, his best friend’s little sister, who isn’t so little anymore.

Then there’s the matter of...more

Honest to goodness, Rachael Anderson is one of my favorite clean romantic writers and this book is my favorite. It just made me feel, well, happy. Happy, happy, happy. Like sunshine and lollipops. Well, maybe not lollipops, more like sunshine and chocolate.

It's no secret that this book falls into my favorite genre. What I love about this book is that it is witty and fun. It's easy to read and just feels real. You know? I love the dynamics between Taycee and Luke. Chemistry. Yum.

Okay, so I want t...more

Love... love... LOVE The Reluctant Bachelorette! It's the second book by Rachael Anderson that I have read and I can tell you she is definitely becoming one of my favorite authors! It's so easy to forget about life with all it's stress and just get lost in her books.

I absolutely loved Taycee and was right there with her feeling ALL the emotions that she was feeling. I laughed out loud (literally)... got frustrated and wanted to throw something across the room... got sad and thought "Ugh! This i...more

So, so good. You can never go wrong with a Rachael Anderson book. This may be my favorite of hers so far. Even though it’s a little cheesy, my husband and I love to watch The Bachelor. It’s been a tradition of ours since we were first married and we love our Bachelor nights. So, when I heard Rachael’s next book had a similar theme I couldn’t wait to read it. When I saw on her blog yesterday that the book was finally available I immediately bought it. Even if you're not a fan of the TV show, you'...more

Such a good read. Loved the characters (some I wanted to hit once in a while) I like the new little twist this was on the story of falling in love with your brother's best friend. If you are looking for an escape from reality for a little bit then read it. Liked that it was told in the lead girl and lead boy perspectives one of my favorite things in books. Cute read glad I took the time to read it. :)

I enjoy a good romance, especially when it is considered a ‘clean romance.’ Although the characters are not acting upon every urge they might have, there is still expression of desires and longings. They are just more about wanting to be physical close to that person as they desire the connection and intimacy than the prevalent sexual agendas in many mainstream books and movies.
Beyond the romance aspect, there is just lots of good, light hearted fun and a little bit of relationship managing in t...more

Rating 4.5 -- This is a lovely, lively, clean romance.
Taycee has been struggling with dating as there are many good men but none have helped her overcome the crush she had, at age 14, on her older brother’s best friend, Luke. But Luke broke her heart when he left town without looking back and without staying in touch. Then her brother went away to college and moved away and her parents retired to Florida. Taycee feels she has been abandoned and she is determined to make a success of the flower b...more

Taycee is having a hard time with men. Mostly because she can't forget one guy in particular. Taycee and her brother were best friends, and they usually had a third member to be a part of all their antics. This third person, Luke, was the apple of Taycee's eye until he left town for college and never contacted her again. A decade later Taycee still can't get over the hurt she feels. These feelings come to a forefront when Luke suddenly shows up back in town, ready to start his own veterinary pra...more

The Bachelor meets Shelter Springs, Colorado….

Taycee’s hometown, Shelter Springs, is going way downhill due to financial issues. Its residents can not afford to stay around because the farming business has not been good. The solution? Taycee’s best friend creates Shelter’s Bachelorette. It is reality TV Show’s The Bachelor meets American Idol. Voters can choose which bachelor will stay and move onto the next round. If the show is successful their town will be saved and the farming families will...more

My review:

The Reluctant Bachelorette by Rachael Anderson was a lot of fun to read! It was entertainingly written, easy to read, very real and offered a lot of lovable characters! It was one of these books which leaves you with genuinely positive feeling while reading and after finishing it. I loved it!

Plot:

The plot is taken out of the TV version of The Barchelorette with few differences. Taycee is plotted to be the bachelorette of the town where she lives. Her best friend is working on raising s...more

This was a fun read. Taycee is quite the character with her love for flowers and enmity towards Luke. The dialogue exchanged between the two is filled with wit and sarcasm, providing much humor to this book. One of my especial favorites of their many exchanges is the "king of the swimming hole" scene. That said, I had some difficulties relating to the characters. From the beginning, Taycee's hostility towards Luke is great, and I was expecting to learn that he did something very, very terrible t...more

You know that bit in Sweet Home Alabama when Reese Witherspoon's character finally realizes that her ex-husband has made something of himself? This book is a lot like that. On the humourous end, Taycee is terrified of change and of opening herself up to any more hurt.

But at the same time, if she chooses to go through this door of 'change', what does she stand to gain? A slice of happily ever after perhaps? Or will this be a journey of self-discovery? The story twists and turns in a very enterta...more

After dating Taycee for a while, Pat believes she is the one. He prepares a surprise and proposes to her. But Taycee breaks his heart: she sure thinks he’s a nice guy, but she just doesn't feel the same way he does. Truth be told, Taycee hasn't been in a real relationship for years, since she had her heart broken by Luke, her crush while they were on school. Luke left town and promised to keep in touch, but he never did. She doesn't let herself get involved since then, she hasn't found anyone wh...more

I loved this book! If you are looking for a fun, clean, romantic book, then this is definitely for you!

So many farmers in the town of Shelter Springs, Colorado are not making it financially. Many people have had to leave their farms, and many more are in danger of losing their farms (including Jessa's beloved aunt and uncle). Jessa and Taycee are best friends who love their town and will do (almost) anything to save it!

Jessa has a plan to save the city... Shelter's Bachelorette - an online versi...more

This book is amazing.
Everyone says that about a heap of books, i know. It's not that special anymore, but for me, this is the new "Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys".
I loved that book, and this is even better! I read the book last yr *finding out when*. SUPRISE, SUPRISE! I read it last yr Oct 30 - 31. It's basically been exactly a year :D
It's taken me a whole year, 365, to find a book better than "Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan boys"
This Is 10 Times Better!!!!!

This was a cute story, a bit of a break from my paranormal/end of the world trend ... completely clean (which is rare in romances today). I actually like historical romances, contemporary isn't quite my thing.

I actually have never watched the "Bachelor/Bachelorette" shows, although I am aware of them and how they work. This follows a similar theme, a small town putting on a web show to raise funds (although would a small hick town web show really get the interest of bachelors&viewers?) Ther...more

This book reminded me of an early-2000s rom-com, and I mean that in the best possible way. It was fun and light, and yes, occasionally far-fetched, but that was okay.

Assuming that you accept the premise of the book — that Shelter’s Bachelorette would have been cast and promoted without ever getting permission from the bachelorette herself, and that Taycee would then have no choice but to play along — it was a good time. I liked Taycee, and she kept me entertained even when she was neck-deep in a...more

4.5 Stars!
First, let me start by telling you that I have a special affection for this book because I won Rachel's "name the town" contest! She held a contest on her blog. And my town - Shelter Springs got the most votes! It is soo cool reading a book that has a town that I named! AND... the book was good!

I loved the characters in this book! I just loved Taycee, she was so adorable, a little spitfire, but adorable. I liked Luke but I wasn't all gaga for him. Guess I just like a different kind of...more

I love, love, loved this book! The moment I picked it up I couldn't put it down until every word had been devoured. The characters are well developed and multifaceted. They make you laugh, cry and sigh with them! A must read for all lovers of fun, clean romances, like me. :)

When Taycee's best friend makes her the bachelorette for a charity reality show, she is less than pleased. By a cruel twist of fate, the man who broke her heart ten years earlier, Luke Carney, just happens to be one of the b...more

I expected this book to be cheesy, simple, and predictable, like most clean romance novels. I was pleasantly surprised! I've read enough of that genre to find most such novels tie things up a little too neatly, and are a bit too sweet. Not so in this story. There was some real drama, it wasn't overly predictable, and I found the romance to be what it should be- enchanting and full of butterflies. If you've watched the television show, The Bachelorette, and found it addicting yet wanting somehow,...more

I read this because of reviews I found on here. A couple of friends read it and raved about it. But honestly I was a little disappointed it. Maybe it was because the reviews I read raised my expectations, but I was frustrated with a lot of parts of this book.

The main one being Jessa. That girl drove me nuts. She was a horrible friend. Volunteering her best friend to be on a bachelorette show without asking her? Yeah right. I would have been so angry.

Another thing that sort of annoyed me was that...more

Most of us remember that childhood crush. That unrequited love we had for a friend's older sibling or an older sibling's friend. I know I had one or four. I've even been able to stay in touch with one or two to see how they've grown & changed.
Taycee is still crushing on Luke, her big brother's best friend from high school. Like Taycee, I have a huge problem with change. It's freaking scary!! And just like Taycee I have come to see how much change is needed, to grow and have new experiences....more

OK, here's my major "what?!" with the book. Someone 'falls in love' at age 14 with a guy she's never dated and can't get over him. So. Not. Real. Ever. They didn't even date. She had a crush on her brother's best friend that left for college. Then, she gets hurt because he never wrote or called. This is puppy love. I kept thinking she must have been older and that they'd dated. Nope. Nothing. She just liked him and has carried a torch all these years.

I can't believe anyone can truly fall in love...more

It didn’t take much convincing for me to read The Reluctant Bachelorette, and I’m glad I did. It was a thoroughly refreshing, fun read!

You’ve probably watched The Bachelorette or even The Bachelor reality TV series on ABC. The Reluctant Bachelorette follows their format on a much smaller scale. Not for personal gain and glory, but for a good cause.

The very small farming community of Shelter, Colorado is dying and Taycee Lynne’s BFF Jessa has a plan to save it. They’ll have their own Bachelorette...more

Oh how I LOVE a good romantic comedy. Kath, this book did not disappoint. You have to know it's good when you have a very handsome hubby sitting by you on the couch(who you are completly ignoring) and this same hubby keeps asking "What are you laughing at?"

I really enjoyed Taycee. I wasn't sure about Luke during certain parts, but ended up falling for him too! I think Jessa needed to take some best friend lessons, but also realize that Taycee allowed that dynamic to happen over and over. The si...more

I've always been a huge fan of the TV show The Bachelor/Bachelorette (hey, don't laugh), so as soon as I heard that Rachael Anderson was writing a book about a girl in a small town doing a similar online spin-off show I knew I needed to read this book. I know the show is highly likely to be scripted and that many of the romances fail horribly, I still like it for light entertainment and whether scripted or not im a hopeless romantic, which this book fufilled for me. It was light-hearted and funn...more

I definitely love this book! This is the first book of Miss Anderson's that I have read and I do not regret it one bit!! I love the whole 'The Bachelorette' concept mixed with all the elements of the story that the author has written vividly and with so much emotion. I adore Taycee and her upbeat, witty, independent personality. I had a super awesome time reading the book that I just can't stop reading. I was so engrossed in the book and I just loved the whole thing! Miss Anderson's writing is a...more

I love to read, write, and do most anything outdoors, with the exception of rock climbing and sky diving. (I have serious height phobias.) If there's something I can do within five feet of solid ground, count me in!
