In the interest of full disclosure, I edited this book before it went to print. That said, I really think it is an amazing story and a truly engrossing read! After reading the sample chapter that I received (before I was officially on-board as editor), I could not stop thinking about the characters, and I could not wait to see where the rest of the story went. I am a BIG FAN of Southern literature anyway, and this story just really pulled me in and took me on an emotional journey. I can remember ...more

Shelves: favorites
As a native of Knoxville (near and part of the the setting for this novel), I had trouble putting this story down. This is a very well-told story that will keep you enthralled. The author does a great job of keeping all of the players in the story on your mind. My heart ached for many of them at the struggles they went through, mostly through no fault of their own.
My only complaint is a couple of unresolved story lines. But the stories of these people unfold swiftly, and you find yourself thinki
