Enjoyment: FAIRLY GOOD

I was a big fan of the first book, Demon's Captive by Stephanie Snow, so I was interested to see what the second book in the series would be like. And with saying this, I say this from a place of love, I was disappointed, very disappointed. I don't want to read every book by Stephanie Snow and compare it to Demon's Captive, however, I didn't get that intensity I felt from the first book.

Most of the problem f

This is the second story in Stephanie Snow's War Tribe series, but it stands completely alone with no reference, that I could see, to Demon's Captive. Unfortunately, it didn't have the same unique erotic tension of the first book either.*

Mercenary's Reward is actually a very sweet story of two people caught in situations wholly unexpected. To me, the basis for much of the story is their inability to speak the same language. This was interesting, and perhaps even more realistic in an erotic scifi

This book has been a very long time coming in my mind. Its predecessor, Demon's Captive, is one of my all-time favorite alien/human woman/capture/non-con/HEA books ever. I have always been disappointed that Demon's Captive was the only book that Stephanie ever wrote, because I thought she was supremely talented.

The short 'n dirty version of this book is: it's not on earth, but another planet. The War Tribe, an enormous, brutal alien collective, that's only purpose is to conquer and obtain. They
Mercenary's Reward is the second in the War Tribe series and an enjoyable enough novella. It follows the story of battlefield nurse Mieli - who we join just as her planet is in it's final stand against the alien War Tribe invaders - and Jai, a young soldier of the War Tribe (and mercenary on the side!).
It is certainly hard not to compare this story to its predecessor Demon's Captive which I found a fantastic and engrossing read. This one didn't have the intensity or compelling nature of the firs

What a sweet intergalactic romance. Reminded me of E.T. by Katy Perry. But I miss the harshness from Demon's Captive. I hope Tarin gets his own book 'cause I felt sorry for the big guy.

So, lots of sex. There is a plot line here but a large amount of the book is focused on sex, I wish that there had been more time spent on the plot and Jar and Mieli communicating with each other. Especially towards the end, it would have made the book more enjoyable.

I only read it on my free time as what I called 'small read'. Well, after all its a good story but I kinda feel lil disappoint in the end. Like...'so...thats all?' hahaha

Waited a long time for this book because I loved first book in this series, Demon'sCaptive so much. While this story was ok I was a little disapointed that it was no where near as awesome as DC. that said I still enjoyed it.

Compared to Demon's Captive, the first book in this series, Mercenary's Reward is pretty bland both on the kinky side and the captive fantasy. It's also much sweeter.
If it has to be a guilty pleasure, I'd rather go for a full one.

Both books are novellas, this seems a little shorter. I read it in less than a couple of hours. At 5$ it's not really cheap.

A sweet story of a massive alien finding something more in life that what he understood it to be. There is a touch of MM in the story.

The end of the story to me felt as if you were running and all of a sudden you ran right into a stone wall at the shins and you just never saw the abrupt end of the trail.....The END!

I liked this book as much as the first. The ending was a bit abrupt. I would have liked an Epilogue with some more Happily Ever After information.

It was pretty good.. I didn't like the abrupt ending tho.. I'd say more a 3 1/2 stars. I def enjoyed the first one better.

This is a fairly placid, nice romantic story. Second in a series but reads as a stand alone.

Stephanie lives in Southern California where the days are sunny and the nights are…well, not. She works (when she must), she writes (when there’s nothing on TV), and she collects her government check every weekend (party!). She has a very nice family (who tells her she’s adopted), a very nice boyfriend (that we’re scared of), and a cute cat (that she clearly doesn’t deserve). Her greatest aspirati ...more
