by
Daisy Harris (Goodreads Author)
Aloof and arrogant, Holsum College Junior Hunter Ford has enjoyed all the perks of being from one of America's most prominent families. Hunter can have anything he wants—except time away from his family's political spotlight and the image consultant hired to keep him there.

Liked it! I really love this series, even though a couple of them have been misses. This one was a great installment, although the bdsm aspect is a little weird. there was also another really important part that wasn't explored fully and that was disappointing. But sweet and mostly satisfying.
EDIT: After sleeping on this one I had to take a star away. I did enjoy the book - the characters were good and the relationship was satisfying. But everything else about it was just so clumsily wrought tha...more

I’m so addicted to the Men of Holsum College series by Daisy Harris. I’ve loved every one of these books and anxiously wait to read the next book in the series. Ms. Harris writes characters that live and breathe off of the written page and I adore every one of them!
I admit when I started reading this book I wondered if I’d like Hunter. He plays a secondary character in the previous book, Bossy and the Brat, and I honestly didn’t like him at all. A...more

3 ½ stars. It was pretty good, above average. It kept my interest.
This is different due to Hunter’s personality. His family is politically powerful. His uncle is running for Vice Pres of U.S. and wants the gay vote so he hired Hunter to appear with him during the campaign. Hunter is used to people accommodating him. He is gorgeous, arrogant, rude, and smirking. He’s never had a loving or caring romance. He’s used to quick hookups at gay bars or through the internet.

Hunter Ford comes from a well known and privileged family with a lot of political ties. He goes through his life taking and getting whatever he wants; his cocky persona oozing entitlement. When his uncle begins his campaign for vice-president, he tasks Hunter with coming along to be the face behind his “gay-friendly” tactic. It’s about the last thing Hunter wants to do, but the pay-off of $500,000 was too good to p...more

Hunter Ford is spoiled, entitled and a general pain in the ass to people who know him. Unfortunately, along with the family money comes certain responsibility and that is how we find Hunter in this tale; being dragged along as the gay nephew of a senator on his re-election tour. Hunter has always been a bit of a wild-child and this, along with his general distain for his Uncle, means he is a complete liability and must be looked after. This is wh...more

Pride and Politics is the sixth installment of Daisy Harris’s Men of Holsum College and to date my favorite of all the series. Previously we met spoiled, egocentric Hunter Ford as he exploited his societal position and the men he screwed. But what appears on the outside is not always the reality of who a person is; thus the case with Hunter.

The highly anticipated story of Hunter Ford. I’ve patiently waited for Hunter to get his story and I must say Daisy Harris did not disappoint. In the 6th installment of the series readers get to see how bad boy Hunter Ford finally gets himself together and obtains the man of his dreams. I wondered how Ms. Harris would transform Hunter from the selfish, arrogant, spoiled kid to the man worthy of true love in the form of Steve Camden. I love that...more

One of the best in the series. Hunter is the most challenging of villain types to redeem. He is not the charming, heartbreaking rogue or the leatherjacketed bad boy. His casual snobbery and indifferent cruelty barely mask a coldness and emptiness that seem innate. As a background character in previous books, we need not look him full in the face and wonder why--we can just mark him down as "the asshole." But Pride and Politics is his story.

While I liked this one, I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous two books in the series. For some reason, this one started off really slow for me and I had trouble getting into the story. I felt like I needed more of Steve's back story or something. Hunter of course starts of as his usual DB self - having one of his "order in" boys at his apartment when Steve comes to pick him up to leave for the campaign.

I’m a big fan of Daisy Harris. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite in the Men of Holsum College series. I had trouble connecting with the characters on a consistent basis throughout the book. The flow of the story felt disjointed and I kept getting knocked out it. I had to make a conscious effort to adjust my thinking and keep up, which has never happened for me with a Daisy Harris book.

I'll admit I started this book not so excited. I first read about Hunter in THE PLAYER AND THE PRUDE and he was a complete a-hole. Even though he was the reason those two guys got together, he was also the reason why they almost broke apart. Then in BOSSY AND THE BRAT he was the guy using Tyler for sex and dissing him the rest of the time as if he didn't even know him. So I had no love for Hunter going into this book.

Hunter is a character who was very difficult to like in the earlier books of this series. He was not only a man-whore, but he was cocky, dismissive, and sometimes even downright mean to the men he hooked up with. I'm happy to say that we see an entirely new side to Hunter in this book and we learn a lot about what makes him tick.
As we already knew, Hunter is part of a very politically connected family. Now, he has been tapped to take part in his uncle's vice-presidential campaign, serving as the...more

Hunter's story is finally here and let me tell you, he's someone very different from the man we've had a chance to meet in two previous books.
This time the story steps away from the confines of the campus and follows Hunter's uncle on his vice-presidential campaign. As an openly gay man in an influential family, it's Hunter's job to present the best picture of his uncle, a man who voted against gay marriage an...more

4.5 rounded up
Ahh, Hunter. He has always been such a bastard, careless to nearly the point of cruelty (sometimes crossing that line), and always giving off the vibe of being better than anyone else. In the last book (Bossy and the Brat) he was so horribly cavalier to the sweet Tyler that I really started to hate him, and then just a little bit of vulnerability, maybe the real Hunter, showed through during a stressful, near bashing, and then I couldn’t wait to...more

I'd been both anticipating and dreading this one, having seen Hunter be his delightful self in several of the previous books. I wasn't sure that a character that bastard-y could be redeemed.
All I have to say is thank god for Steve. Because I was able to see Hunter through Steve's eyes, and to see the changes Hunter was able to make because of Steve, I did finally--I think--come to appreciate the piece of work that is Hunter.

I loved this story of two MCs who start off pretty much hating each other to eventually falling in love. Don't want to give to much away, but there is more angst then you can shake a stick at (including sexual abuse) and a surprising BDSM twist that is absolutely fucking hot as hell! *fans self*
Recommended if you like spoiled rich boys who need to be taken down a few notches, ridiculously hot M/M sex and sunshine inducing HEAs.

One word: Hunter. Four words: Hunter is the man. I'm biased because I love this entire series, but this book stands out for me because Hunter is such a fabulous character. We got to see him as a jerk in Player and Prude and as a wounded loner in Bossy and the Brat, but in his own story we get to meet the man behind the swagger. You won't be disappointed. And if you missed the earlier books, this stands completely on its own--it takes place off campus. Steve is pretty darn awesome too, and I love...more
When I heard Ms. Harris was making a hero out of Hunter Ford I truly wondered how she would make someone who was so unlikable in the previous books into someone a reader could root for. I don't wonder any more. She did a great job making Hunter human and giving him good reasons for his past behaviors. By the end I loved Hunter as much as I've loved many of Ms. Harris' other heroes.

Daisy Harris managed to take a character that I didn't care for at all, and not only make me like him, but have this become one of my favorite books in the series! Fantastic job for that alone! I really liked the characters and progression of this one, very enjoyable!
I loved reading Pride and Politics by Daisy Harris and could not get enough of Hunter and Steve, who are complete opposites but so sexy together! Hunter has a total attitude at first, but then you get to know the person inside and learn why he acts that way. Then he had me swooning with his sexy and dominating ways with Steve. I loved that sex scene in the limo that even had me panting right along with Steve. I adored Steve whose protective nature was a turn-on for me and he always looked after...more
