Let first say that futuristic erotic romance with paranormal elements is not normally my cup of tea. I'm more of a historical romance gal. I found the story premise of Gladiator interesting though and decided to give it a shot. What I realized is that if all futuristic erotic romances are like Ms. Lynd's then consider me a new fanatic!

A prophecy says that a healer will come and with the help of her soulmate she will heal the world. Once Tristan figures out that the woman that is thrown into his cell is the Healer, he quickly realises that he cannot kill her, and will protect her with his life in order to help her escape those that would see to her defeat. Ok, sounds good right?

This book was complete trash! I'm sorry, I try to find the good in every story that I read, but people this was HORRIBLE! **SPOILER ALERT** Alexandra the Healer has been improisoned by her evil father and sister since she was five years old. Her sister figures that best way to get rid of her is to give her to Tristan to have her killed. On their first encounter she asks him to take her virginity, its her 21st birthday, her sister wants her dead and she doesnt want to die without knowing a man's touch.(so cliche) After a lengthy conversation on why he shouldn't be her first, he takes her anyway. And surprise, surprise...she gets pregnant, and of course now they are in love. *sigh. Fast forward in a fight with other Gladiators she proves to the masses that she is the healer from the prophecy. After that they are able to get a bunch of guards to help them escape the prison. In the aftermath of their escape, Tristan and Alexandra fall into each others arms and make mad passionate love and surprise, suprise...he impregnants her, AGAIN! WTF!! We also find out that her healing powers are replinshed during sex, and she can be healed during sex as well. Anyway, these two and few of her followers live like nomads for about seven months, when after a traumatic experience she goes into early labor and gives birth...on a bride...with no water...with like seven people watching (one of whom just happened to be a midwife...how lucky was that *rolling eyes). After a ridiculously fast, easy, and non-messy birth of premature yet normal twins (would they really be twins if their conception didnt happen at the same time?), Alexandra is recovered enough to continue on their journey.

I understand that is fiction is about being creative and using your imagination, but, this thing is even too far-fethced for fiction. I have a hard time wrapping my head around a woman getting pregnant not once but twice during two separate sexual encounters. Then sex restores her powers, so they are constantly having sex even when they both have been tortured and can barely move or days after the birth of twins. I could go on, but really I checked out. The only reason I finished was because I was trying to figure out how far left the rest of the story was going to go. It got worse. I've seen other reviews and I've only found one review that gave this less that 3-stars. I don't know what book they were reading, but it couldn't have been the same one I read. My advice, skip it or read at your own risk.

Tristan Shane my new book boyfriend is a Gladiator and the queens favored Gladiator. He is well taken care of but what a price he paid. They took his wife and children away from him and forced him to fight for his life. With nothing to live for and nothing to lose Tristan fights for the spectators in the arena. The Queen beds Tristan and keeps him for herself because she is a selfish woman who is evil and thrives off of misery and pain she inflicts on her subjects. One person she wants to destroy is her half sister Alexandra. So she devises a plan for her step sister Alex to be put in the same cell as Tristan so he can see if what the rumors say are true and if Alex is the healer sent down to save the people. One thing Veronica the Queen did not see coming was that Tristan and Alex would fall in love and Tristan would stop at nothing to protect Alex.

The queen being the queen will stop at nothing in order to kill Tristan and Alex because they have defied her. She will chase them down and make them suffer but together the two will have to bond together and fight the queen if they stand any chance of being together they will have learn to trust each other and rely on each other. Alex has the power to heal and she will try and heal Tristan from his broken heart from losing his family. Will Alex be able to save Tristan? Will Tristan open his heart? What will happen to the queen? In the end when the dust settles who will be left standing? Will the healer be able to heal the world and bring corruption to an end?

This is a SUMMER MUST READ! You will not be disappointed I promise!(less)

Unfortunately, I couldn't finish it.

It was just too... hell, I don't even know what. The premise had amazing possibilities, but leaned toward too crazy, unusual, and uncomfortable for me.

A dystopian freebie.I think it's a year after 2012 since they are talking about cars,tanks and turtures with electricity but I couldn't stop picturing the characters dressed like people dress 2000 or so years ago.Weird plot but I liked it.

If you like your post-apocalyptic stories erotic, definitely check out Gladiator by Kate Lynd. Living in a dystopic world, gladiator Tristan finds redemption, love, and lust with healer Alexandra. Tristan is sexy and strong. Alexandra is sweet and giving. Together they make for one hot love story.
