I have always been a Christian. I was brought up in a Christian home, I had Sunday school every Sunday and Wednesday night church every, well, Wednesday. I went to church camps, I was baptized, and I went to Christian school and even had those corny cartoon illustrations of Bible Stores on tape.

So why is it that I have never fully read the Bible?

You would think being the brought-up Christian I am that I would have. I mean I said I had before. I even told people I have read it thirty times! I was

It would be interesting to know what's going on in Israel at the time this book was written ... quite the heavy stuff in Amos! The notes in my Bible say the people Amos was prophesying against were very selfish, rich, and oppressive toward the poor.

"He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth - the LORD God Almighty is his name." Amos 4:13 NIV

Amos is the thirtieth book of the Bible, it is inspired by God. The prophet Amos was from the Judean countryside but he was called to prophesy to the land of Israel during the reign of King Jeroboam II. Amos's teaching revolves around the idea that Israel will be punished for there sin of ignoring the poor. He talks about how the people make superficial attempts at worship but in the end all they really want is to get in over with and they don't attempt to put God's laws into practice in their ...more

The book of Amos was revelation given to the prophet Amos. Words of Wisdom Amos 3: 3-7: Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the ...more

This message was given to Amos, a shepherd from the town of Tekoa in Judah. He received this message in visions two years before the earthquake, when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam II, the son of Jehoash, was king of Israel.

Bless the name of Jesus!

If you want a warm and cozy book from the Bible, I wouldn't exactly shout out "Amos"!! But I like the fact that it ends with God fixing stuff, building things up again.. First it is like He rages or something... but then He says he is gonna fix everything again.. so... I liked it. xD
