John Edgar Hoover, what an intriging person. He hated communists, jews, blacks, indians, gays althought he was gay himself. Never would a black person, indian, jew or woman become the president of the USA. All the big names of the american history make an entrance in this book. He also had something against the Kennedys. Have to say that the image we all have of JFK and his wife is not what it was like. He had a lot of affairs, with Marilyn Monroe to name one. And she died in strange circumstanc ...more

almost five stars. very well written and easy to read. an interesting point of view from an insider, the best friend of one of the most powerfull and dirtiest men in the US. Kennedy family, from old Joe to Bob, in a new (rather ugly)light. possible too much hate from Tolson against everybody, but at least he has no intention to look better than he was. see the chapters relating JFK' assasination and how cheap was the price of a human life. three assassinations in less than five years is by far t ...more

Deep (partly fictional) dive into the nervous system of the FBI, right from its creation, up to the death of J. Edgar Hoover, narrated by his lover, and FBI number 2, Clyde Tolson. Covers mostly the post WW2 era and his relation with the Kennedy family.

A novel based on Clyde Tolson's memoirs. He was Edgar Hoover's second in command and lover. Interesting.

A lire absolument.
