Again J.T. Geissinger manages to keep me up past my bedtime … Shapeshifters … I just love them. Panthers… how cool, right?
I had a lot of fun with the first book with its setting in the dark and foggy forests of England. This time the setting is the beautiful city Rome in Italy. Sigh... bella Italia…!
The second book "Edge of Oblivion" tells the story of Morgan and Xander. We already met Morgan in the first book "Shadow’s Edge". She is an interesting character and a very free spirit. After she mad...more

So. A paranormal romance, Xander and Morgan’s story. Unlike other paranormals I’ve read, both of the pair are superhuman beings, not just one or the other (when I’ve read paranormal romances before, it was always the male who was supernatural).
Well, I’m not a huge reader of paranormals, but I like to read one every now and then, and this one was good. None of your werewolves or vampires, this pair belong t...more

The second book to the Night Prowler series, Edge of Oblivion, author J.T. Geissinger continues to further develop the intriguing story of shapeshifters called Ikati. Moving the setting from the murky and misty forests of England, she takes us to the gorgeous Italian city of Rome. The series shifts character story to Morgan Montgomery, who makes a huge mistake in the first book, is ordered to locate the Ikati’s premiere enemy, the Expurgari. Under the presence of assassin Alexander “Xander”Luna,...more
The second installment in the Night Prowler series , J.T Geissinger has left me of the edge of my seat with this one. Ok so I love a good shifter book like many of you but PANTHERS...YES From the first page I was hooked, I read this book in two days might have been one if I didn't have to work. I swear work gets in the way of my reading time lol.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review as part of a book tour. I rated it 4.5 stars.
Edge of Oblivion, the second book in the Night Prowler series by J.T. Geissinger, is an elegant paranormal romance with well developed characters and a well paced plot. There’s so much that happens in this story that just has you glued to the page. Xander and Morgan are incredibly compelling and my heart just broke for them repeatedly. I love the members of the Syndicate that are introduced. I am also intrigued with the idea of a newly discovered colony, though I have no idea where that might go in future books and I fear how things will go with who I suspect is the villain of book 3. I can’t really say too much about the colony and the villain and all due to s...more
EDGE OF OBLIVION (Night Prowler #2) by J.T.Geissinger
EDGE OF OBLIVION is the second storyline (October 2012 release) in J.T.Geissinger’s Night Prowler series. The Ikati is an ancient shape-shifting species of panther, with only a few remaining colonies in the world. Similar to Christine Feehan’s Dark Carpathian series and Leopard series, each full-blooded Ikati is blessed (or cursed) with a special ability. Some are telepathic, able to shift into mist and others can walk through walls. And anyon...more

This was a fantastic second installation in the night prowler series. I loved Morgan from the first book and admit I was apprehensive about her staring in this one.( No spoilers here read book 1 and you will understand why.) I was very pleasantly surprised. She maintained all the wonderful quality’s that made me love her in the first place. The Author did an amazing job with her character in this book. The “hero” Xander was just about as close to perfect as perfect gets! He was sexy and “manly”...more
Fans of the paranormal and shifters in particular will enjoy this exciting story that combines danger and romance. Morgan has been sentenced to death for actions she took that endangered her secretive Ikati colony. Her one chance to save her life requires her to go to Rome and locate the Expurgari who are her tribes ancient enemies.
Morgan doesn't travel alone though. Accompanying her is Xander Luna who is one of a small number of assassins who act as the Ikati's enforcers. If she doesn't find th...more

Edge of Oblivion is a well written, fast paced book. Morgan is charged with treason and faces death. A last minute assignment from the queen, may be the key to saving her life. Xander is an assassin who is sent to Rome with Morgan to hunt down the Expurgari. If she succeeds in finding them, she will be free. Not finding them means Xander must end Morgan's life. Morgan and Xander are Ikati. They are shifters and each possesses unique gifts. The gifts are pretty cool. Who wouldn't want to be able...more

What a fantastic read! J.T Geissinger has stepped it up for Urban Fantasy. Book one (Shadow's Edge) was hit for me, but I never thought it could get better. It did. J.T has taken us deeper into the world of the Ikati and things are more messed up than you'd think.
I loved the prologue. It was quick and interesting. The last sentence is my favorite part, "And though we have learned to live alongside you, thought we have learned to survive, though we may smile and nod as we pass you in the street,...more

Oh I am so glad Morgan got her book. I really enjoyed reading this tale and I look forward to the next in the series. I give the book 5 stars.
To tell you the truth I have never been a big shifter fan. I have always preferred vampires over werewolves. However if there was an animal that I really love it is the panther so when I first seen Shadows Edge available for review I thought I would give it a try and I loved it. The previous book in this series, Shadow’s Edge was an introduction into the world of the Ikati and had a new mythology I was very eager to learn more about. We knew some things about this groups past, but there are still some holes that need to be filled in and J.T. gave us some of that in the prologue for Edge of Oblivion. It gave us some great insight into why the Ikati have become who they are today and why they have chosen a life of secrecy.

I really enjoyed this book and could have read it a lot faster if I hadn't just started a new job at the same time I received it! This was Morgan's book with her love interest being the Ikati Assassin Xander. It was great getting into her head and seeing how much she genuinely regretted what she did and maybe even craved home a little after trying to escape it for so long. There were also a couple of pretty big twists regarding the Expurgari that I won't reveal but that did take me by surprise a...more
This book confused me, it seemed to have a plot all laid out in the beginning and then didn't follow it through. A whole different course of action was implemented and new characters brought in. The narrative changed to different viewpoints pretty often too, at least 6 different people that I can recall.
I just wanted Morgan and Xander to do what they actually set out to do. Time seemed to be wasted and they never even started their urgent mission which Morgan's life depended on. They did however...more

J.T. Geissinger breathes fresh life into the paranormal romance genre with the Night Prowler series. Edge of Oblivion captivated me with the thrilling excitement of the plot and the smoldering relationship that developed between Morgan and Xander. I somehow missed the first book in the series, Shadow's Edge, but after reading Edge of Oblivion I really want to go back and read it. “For every gift, an equally terrible price.”
Live free or die, is something Morgan lives by and what ultimately lead her to making the difficult decision to commit treason against the Ikati. The demands set against all Ikati females was too much for her to take, but a desperate move leaves Morgan in a different kind of prison, no longer gilded, where execution is the only way to obtain true freedom. However, with a new Queen in power, Morgan may be used as a bargaining chip in a political turf w...more

I'll admit, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the 1st book. Right up front I'll let 1st time readers of the series know that they should read "Shadows' Edge" before this one. The book starts right off where book 1 ended and there is no recapping. So if you haven't read the 1st book you might be a little confused at first. The story starts with Morgan being held in a dark dungy prison and she's about to be executed. She's accused of high treason. However, the new Queen (Jenna) hatches a plan. Th...more

My English review
And here is the second volume by J.T. Geissinger. I must say that I was really curious to get into this new one. Although I loved the first book about Jenna, I was eager to follow Morgan this time. It’s interesting because she is a very complex character and it was really nice to discover her a little more.
The novel continues immediately after the first one, Jenna is now the Queen but Morgan is always accused of high treason after what she did. And there is o...more

From villain to heroine, Morgan's story was just as awesome as I could have hoped. Choked under a restrictive, patriarchal rule her whole life, it was not hard to empathize with Morgan's efforts to break free. EDGE OF OBLIVION offers her the barest hope of redemption, and is my favorite Night Prowler book to date.
Building off the world established in SHADOW'S EDGE, EDGE OF OBLIVION starts on the opposite end of the romantic scale. Where Jenna is born with all of the once in a lifetime abilities...more

This book is better than the first ☺.
So this book seems to start a couple of weeks after the first book. Jenna and Leander are married and Jenna is settling into her role as Queen.
Morgan is charged with treason for her part in what happened at the end of book one. She is going to be executed. Remember though that Morgan put into action the betrayal before she really got to know Jenna, before she knew that Jenna was Queen. It is no excuse for what she did but it does make you feel a l...more

Morgan is about to die but Jenna cant let that happen so she sends her on a mission with Xander as her keeper. Morgan is a firecracker who doesn't give up so its no surprise that she will do anything to complete her mission and stay alive. Xander is an assassin and is willing to take care of Morgan if she doesn't complete her task. Of course neither of them imagined that they would fall for each other in the process.

In the last book we got to know Jenna and Leander, King and Queen of the Ikati. However, in Shadow's Edge, Morgan was a secondary character who was not happy with the hand she was dealt. As a gifted female Ikati, she was a pawn to the "Law". She was unable to leave their sanctuary and find a mate of her own. Instead she had to mate with someone of their choosing and she could not live a life of freedom. So in the end of Shadow's Edge, you find out that Morgan has betrayed the Ikati and has given...more

Sometimes an author is lucky (or maybe I should say talented) and all the stars align perfectly so that the end result of all their hard work, a finished and published book, is exquisite. Edge of Oblivion is a sublime example of a paranormal romance, and I was both dreading and anticipating getting to the last page. Edge of Oblivion is published by Montlake Romance, a publishing arm of Amazon. I’m extremely impressed with my first experience with this publisher. Geissinger’s writing is top-notch...more
I bought this without realizing it was part of a series so I was worried that I'd be lost and I admit, as I was reading the prologue I was thinking oh boy, this was a mistake. But no, it was fine! From chapter one I managed to pick up the story without much trouble and it actually turned into a great read. I haven't read an adult paranormal romance in awhile and this book is making me want to get back into it - I really liked it.
