Brilliant novel, historical research done with an eye to fine detail and existing socio-political nuanses. Characters are well-rounded and believable. The reader is drawn subtly into the story and soon becomes inexplicably linked to the events. The interplay between Italy and South Africa and the ensuing war is done with empathy and pathos. Cannot wait to read the sequel.

Baie goeie boek!!
