When I first picked this book up, I was surprised at how quickly it captured my attention and then I remembered that it’s a Vonda Sinclair book, and wanted to smack myself, because DUH! Of course it sucked me in, she’s a fantastic writer.
I think the intensity of this book is increased because it’s not just a simple love story, it’s not just a simple rescue, and well, to be honest, NOTHING is simple in this book.

This is my first Vonda Sinclair book, and I have to say that it was not bad. I do love my highlanders, but admit that I can be rather picky about them as well. I felt a little disjointed with this book and the main hero, Dirk. I'm guessing this is because this is the third book in the series, and I have not yet read the previous two books. That being said, Dirk was your typical brave, hiking-the-kilt-up-to-get-shit-done, and protective Scottish Highlander. He was also rather sweet at times.

Having read all of Karen Moning's Highlander books I was looking for something else to fill in the absence of a Highland male when finished. This may not be fair but I was really disappointed in Ms. Sinclair's book(s) (have read one other hoping they would get better). The characters have no chemistry. The emotions and dialog between them felt contrived. The story lacked depth. I enjoy genuine emotion and love between a man and woman. I enjoy a author digging deep. I truly enjoyed this book all the way through. Vonda does a great job of writing HOT Scottish romances with good story lines, great characters and VERY HOT love scenes. All three of her book's were very enjoyable and I look forwards to reading more of them.
