The great thing about Alice Gaines's books is that they understand their purpose: they provide us with a few hours of escapist fun. Hot escapist fun, in fact. These novellas do not reach beyond their ability. They simply entertain.

Gayle Richards and Nolan Hersch both study the mating habits of animals. Due to a grant she received, Gayle has invited Nolan and 2 of his research assistants to join her as she plans on observing the mating season of the Elk. But she's also hoping that the three days she has Nolan to herself she can use to prove to him that his judgement on the fairer sex and who is actually in charge during the mating season are wrong.

In parts I really quite enjoyed this little novella. It was short, sweet and had a little bit of everything. It was romantic and funny with a little bit of drama thrown in.
I quite liked the characters, they made mistakes but they owned up to them. They are a bit nerdy which for this reader is awesome because I am a little nerdy to. I loved reading about their arguments which was fuelled with unresolved sexual tension.
