Josh has always known that he is a bisexual man and, because he was discriminated and degraded for his sexual preferences when he was younger, he decides to open a club, a safe haven, where people are able to explore their sexual fantasies in private. He has formed a crush on his assistant manager, Beth, and bartender, Oliver. He is the most experienced of the three but because of his insecurities from being mistreated growing up, he is afraid to be in a permanent threesome relationshi ...more
Here are my thoughts....
Josh had the most challenging teenage life. Coming clean to his parents of being bi-sexual after they caught him in the act. His mother was convinced with the idea of sexual intervention, that this will cure his confusion. This had made a huge impact to his life and had developed personal nightmares that was sculpted to his being.
Beth was working at a coffee shop but she got sacked when she was caught by her boss having se ...more
Favorite Line - "Welcome to Mavericks. Live out your wildest fantasies in the place where anything goes."
Favorite Character - Beth
This book was certainly interesting & a wild read too. I have read some menage books before but none as detailed as this one. I don't normally read books that contain male/male sex as i am not into it so this book was quite different for me. This story had BDSM & all-sorts of kinky-fuckery too. There was a tonne of anal play & ...more

I've always enjoyed reading MMF books, not only because they're hot but also because they're almost always full of angst and heartbreak, and who doesn't love an emotional book. This book is no exception.
Through the character's eyes you experience all three sides of a threesome relationship - and that it isn't all hot sweaty sex all the time.
Josh eventhough this is his turf, been there done that, quickly realizes that he's on a totally new playing field bec ...more
This story has the usual m/f as well as m/m, m/f/m, and m/m/f ménages. There is also femdom, bondage and elements of D/s.

Not willing to look within himself for the reason, he decides to open a second club in Montreal. Start fresh, leave the past behind. But before he moves on, he wants to make sure two important people in his life, Beth and...more

There were many things I liked about this book and some things I didn’t. Let’s start with what I loved. I loved the characters. I really like Beth and found it fascinating as she discovered who she was sexually. Oliver was equally intriguing in discovering he was gay for Josh. I loved watching them learn each other and find their way with each other. They were willing to fight to keep each other and when one would push away, the other two would push right back to make them see how ...more
The story centers around a sex club called Maverick and its sexy brooding owner Josh. This right here was enough to catch my attention. Then let us throw in the fricken hot as hell cover with Josh and his two special friends. Beth, his sexy assistant manager, and Oliver, his hotter than ...more

Series: Long Shorts #4
"Calling The Shots" by Christine D'Abo is the fourth in the 'Long Shorts' series for this author. This story has lots of twist and turns that kept you reading to see what was coming next in this story. Now, I want you to know that this is a menage relationship, so if this isn't your kind of genre....You know what to do. This was definitely a story of ...more
I couldn't believe how messed up Josh, Beth, and Oliver are. The funny thing is that each of them has a different issue. In some ways it is funny to see each of them face their issue in a big blow up and needs the others to talk them down. I really liked how before sex was brought into ...more
Calling the Shots is the fourth installment in the Long Shots Series. The first three books are about siblings finding love while running a coffee shot in Canada. In book one we meet Josh, who owns a club called Mavericks. Mavericks is a safe place where people can come to live out their sexual fantasies. It isn't just a BDSM club, but a sex club where sane, safe and consensual is adhered too. We learn Josh is bi-sexual and while Dominant, he isn't always looking necessarily for that. He is in ...more
Finally, Josh's story... I had this book sitting in my TBR pile. I was burnt out of holiday romance and all ( I know bah humbub, but after awhile you must move on) and I wanted to read something more vampier, more erotic. This book was down right sizzling, enough to melt the snow in the North Pole.. yikes, this was exactly what I needed!
In the previous books of the Long Shots series: Double Shot, A Shot in the Dark, and Pulled Long, Josh ha ...more
This is the fourth installment in Christine d'Abo's Long Shots series. However, this is the first book by this author I've read; so I had no idea what to expect. Before starting this book, I was concerned that I hadn't read the first three books in the series and that jumping in would be confusing. While reading, I discovered none of those concerns were valid. Calling the Shots can definitely be read as a stand-alon ...more
Now this book is exactly what I was hoping for when I first read about Josh in the book Long Shots. I immediately found him intriguing and wanted to know more about him. I liked getting to see him in action in Double Shot and was sad for him in the end. But then I saw Calling the Shots at Netgalley and I got excited. Yay! Josh would finally get is happily ever after. And from the description I knew it was going to be hot.
I wasn’t disappointed in the hotness in this book. Beth ...more

In the last installation of Long Shots we get a better look at one of our favorite characters, Josh and some close-ups of Beth and Oliver. Josh, the owner of a sex club– has known since a young age that he was bisexual. Discovering his sexuality at this young age brought a lot of anxiety and heartache with it when his own mothe ...more
Calling the Shots is the fourth entry in Christine d’Abo’s Long Shots, and the first full length novel in the series. I wasn't familiar with the previous three novellas, but had no problem enjoying it as a stand-alone story.
Josh is the classic example of a guy who is there for everyone else but never asks for anything in return. He started the Mavericks sex club in Toronto to provide a ...more
I've had a bit of a crush on Josh ever since he played a starring role in Double Shot so I was incredibly excited when I found out he had his own story and couldn't wait to see him get his own happy ending. Considering I had a feeling he was half in love with Paul and Sadie it didn't come as much of a surprise to find out he was going to end up part of a permanent threesome. Calling the Shots is the longest book in the series and although it didn't quite beat Pulled Long to become my fa ...more

Josh may be comfortable with his sexual preferences, not everyone in his life has shared that sentiment. He has been carrying around the scars of his childhood for years and has always held everyone at an arm’s length. His pride and joy is his club, Mavericks. He designed it himself to ensure that no one would ever have to be embarrassed or ashamed to explore their ...more
Finally!! We get an HEA for Josh...*happy sigh* Josh has been a regular character throughout this series as the owner for Mavericks...the local kink club. I fell in love with him in book #1 and this book completely clinched it...I love his character! Beth and Oliver both work in the club. Beth is the asst. mgr while Oliver is the head bartender. They both are drawn to Josh...heck this is a menage book...everyone is drawn to everyone else. ;o)

First and foremost, this book has very graphic MMF action. If you aren't okay with that, do NOT read this book.
I did enjoy this book. The beauty of it was in it's simplicity. There is a very direct story to tell here. You've got believable characters that have detail but not too much. The settings are kept pretty much to a few distinct settings so no real need for pages upon pages of details on scenery.
You've got three main characters, each with their ...more

Holy Hell! I haven’t read many m/m/f or m/m books. I’m sort of a virgin with it. This book opened my eyes wide! HOT!

Calling the Shots is the fourth book in a series that all take place in and around a sex club, Mavericks and a coffee shop, the Pulled Long Cafe. I read the first three of the series and really enjoyed them.
The last book isn't about the Long siblings who run the Pulled Long Cafe, but rather it's about Josh Scott, the owner of Mavericks where much of the previous installments took place.
