There was him, there was her, there was wonderland. Wonderland an extension of him, he was her dreams, her savior, he ruined her for all others-SHE NEEDED HIM. She was his balm, what calms him, she keeps him togther, whole, she can resuscitate Wonderland-HE NEEDED HER. WONDERLAND NEEDED THEM!!

This is the first book I have read by Marie Hall & I really liked it. It was a little crazy & strange but like Alice in Wonderland itself.
This is about a fairy godmother who needs to hook her bad boys up with their soul mate. This particular bad boy is The Mad Hatter. Alice Hu has been in love with The Mad Hatter and everything Wonderland since she was 13 so to meet him is a dream come true. But is it a dream or reality?

I wanted to like this book more than I did. It was long on concept (which was why I picked it up in the first place), but short on characterization. I really, really liked the idea that Alice and the Mad Hatter could hook up and that both could control Wonderland.
Unfortunately, the author never really did answer the basic questions about the Mad Hatter (how he created Wonderland, why he's mad, his name...) although she does hint at some of them.

I was browsing through Amazon looking for books to put in my Kindle Deal blog post, and I came across this FREE puppy. My attention was immediately captured. I have a fanatic obsession for all things Alice and the Mad Hatter. I freaking loved that SyFy show Alice and liked the obvious romantic undertones in Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. (If only he hadn't been so cooky looking...sigh)

A true test of a good a book is one that can capture you and not let go until you've finished. This book passed that test for me.
At first I was wary of this book because of the title and the cover. Like always my mothers words rang in my head 'Don't judge a book by it's cover.' So not judging the book I downloaded it and read it. The first two chapters I was still a little cautious but after the second chapter I was hooked completely. I did not put the book down until I finished it, all in one...more

I want to start by saying I didn't realize this book was a bit more on the graphic romance side. So be warned!
The Mad Hatter needs to find his mate or he's pretty much done for. Alice, unaware that he's real, has been in love with him for a majority of her life. Sounds like there could be awesome chemistry, yes? Well, that's really all there was. Chemistry. However, you never really see the emotions develop. They're just always there on Alice's side, and thrust upon you on Hatter's. Yikes! No pu...more

I'm generally not a romance fan, but when I saw this title under 'free' kindle books, I figured, what the hay? Might as well try it out. After all, I was always a huge fan of the Mad Hatter, and who could resist him after Johnny Depp took over the character? Marie Hall did an amazing job of taking anyone's Hatter fantasies and turning them in to reality. The characters were well developed and we glimpsed just enough of each of theirs backgrounds to get a better understanding of who they were. Th...more
I really enjoyed this book. It has the right mixture of comedy and seriousness. I liked that it wasn't all.. hyped up? It was a fun and enjoyable read.
Alice has just opened her very own shop. After her first day, as she's closing, lady comes in and Alice just can't turn her down. As the lady leaves, she gives Alice a card. Alice takes it up as a crazy lady trying to fix her up with her son or something. When she gets home, she rubs the card and finds herself in Wonderland. She has to make Hatter...more

Alice is not "the" Alice from the story we all know, but is in fact the grand daughter of the famous Alice that we all know in our storybooks. The real story of the original Alice is so much different and led to a mad Hatter and a fairy who is set to help the Hatter meet his match. This is the story that comes after (way after) the story of Alice and Wonderland that we all know. This book had a brilliant premise and I enjoyed it. It was a good read with a fast pace.

Her Mad Hatter is a modern retelling of Alice in Wonderland... Mad Hatter has a fairy godmother, who must find his Alice in order to stop Hatter from going completely insane and causing the end of Wonderland. Hatter isn't willing to cooperate because "that" Alice broke his heart and only wanted the power of Wonderland. That Alice has a great granddaughter who is also named Alice. Alice Hu is in her early twenties and is obsessed with Alice in Wonderland stories, so much so that her room is decor...more
Imagine if Johnny Depp in the role of Mad Hatter just dropped by your doorstep and you found out all of that was real? That's the fantasy this book revives! I mean, who isn't in love with the Mad Hatter right? With or without Depp? Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Alice finds herself making cupcakes for money and the fairy godmother is on a mission to save Mad Hatter's life. And the only elixir Hatter needs is Alice - for their love to make them complete and take his madness away. But sadly...more
I absolutely LOVED this book!
It was nearly too short for my needs, but fortunately i got book 2 already on my kindle.
I loved the autors ideas about wonderland, the descriptions were good and easy to imagine (which i think is really an accomplishment since its not easy to describe an upside-down world... i think.).
The hatter really has a unique touch, but isn't completely OOC from the original novel - he could have been a little bit more crazy when he first met Alice and his sentences a little bi...more

Good, fun, quick read.
The most developed (and delicious) part of Her Mad Hatter is the Mad Hatters madness. Nicely woven into the story, Marie Hall attempts successfully to make insanity sexy. I don't really know how she did it. I for one am not a fangirl of Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland, I mean, he's fine and blah blah, but he certainly doesn't have me bothered. This interpretation is mentioned in the the book btw, but I tried to shove that from my mind (I didn't want Hatter to have creep...more

I have to admit, the idea was good. A faerie godmother to the 'bad guys' of our bedtime stories finds herself in need of finding girls for Hook, Big-bad-Wolf, and the Mad Hatter. It sounded like a fun premise - this book being the Mad Hatter's love story. I liked the idea of an insane hero... never read about one of THOSE before in a romance!

I waffled a bit on how to rate this. It's not quite good enough to be a three, but it's better than my usual two. I eventually settled on three because I did genuinely enjoy reading it. However, it still has enough flaws that I don't feel I can give it a better rating, and even the three is a stretch.

Her Mad Hatter by Marie Hall
Kingdom Series Book 1
Danika was not your usual fairy godmother. She didn’t want the prissy princes and princesses. She liked having her bad boys. And especially the worst of them in the Kingdom. The Bad Five. This included Mad Hatter, Gerard, Wolf, Jinni and Hook. She had been warned to connect them with their mates before it was too late. Especially Hatter’s. So off she went to find yet another Alice.

This was a super quick read (I think it is listed at 129 pages), but (or maybe it’s not a “but”, but an “and”) I absolutely loved it. Since seeing Tim Burton’s re-make of Alice in Wonderland (which the author gives a nod to), I’ve wanted the Mad Hatter to have a happily ever after. This first book is free (right now), and I was absolutely pleasantly surprised.

This is the beginning book in a series where we are introduced to the fairy godmother with the toughest task. Her assignment to find Happily Ever Afters for within a time limit are the badboys of the stories: Captain Hook, Big Bad Wolf, Mad Hatter, etch.

4.5 Stars
Her Mad Hatter is a modern, romantic take on the known Alice and Wonderland story! Alice Hu is just one of many "Alice's" to come to Wonderland, taken there by the lovely Danika (fairy godmother), who is desperately trying to find the Mad Hatter's love, soulmate, etc.
Hatter has dealt with heartbreak after heartbreak of not finding his true love and is through with the entire process when Danika brings Alice Hu to the...more

Mad as a hatter!!!!
Okay now that I have that out of the way let me go on to say that I loved this book. Yes I know "another" Alice in wonderland story, really?? But it was oh so much more.
Marie Hall has created a fabulous story. The world building in this story goes far beyond what most authors do anymore and is very reminiscent of the original story.

What a delightful read! We are introduced to the story by Danika, fairy godmother to the bad boys of the fairy tale world. Rather dismissive of the “Prince Charming” and godmothers of the bippity boppity boo ilk, Danika is on her second attempt to find the Mad Hatters true love. And it’s a rush job, as Hatter is fast becoming more mad every day.

I wasn't sure if I am going to like this book. I have never read "Alice in Wonderland" and was wondering if I would not be able to connect enough dots in order to enjoy it. Well, that worry was unnecessary. Although I believe my enjoyment would have been bigger, if I would have read "Alice in Wonderland" before, it didn't change the fact that the book was outstanding.

All right, first of all I should say my rating is actually 2.5. I'm very conflicted about this one. See, I didn't hate it, I actually enjoyed reading it, and yet while it's more than good enough for a decent fan fiction story, it doesn't quite cut it as a proper novel. Unless we're talking Mills & Boon. It would make a decent one of them. The plot was adequate, but the writing was occasionally clumsy and rather clichéd. The funny thing is I had a small lump in my throat towards the end due t...more
I went into this series, expecting something a bit different then it ended up being.
So the premise, that there's a fairy Godmother that is in charge of fairytale bad boys, and has to get them matched and married-ish off, is cute.
But reading it, felt like the equivalent of reading the perspective of a cat in heat. Only a human cat. Way....over the top (hat, it being the mad hatter of course) like the man could barely bat an eyelash without eliciting quivering thighs and the like. It was all, so...more

Her Mad Hatter is a totally new and original retake on the Mad Hatter and Alice’s encounter. Alice Hu, runs a cup cake shop called the Map Hatter’s Cupcakery and Tea Shoppe until the day Danika (fairy godmother to the less desirables) comes along and whisks her to Wonderland. Danika has been charged with the task to find the perfect mate for the Mad Hatter.
