One of the things I'm noticing about this series is that the author does a really good job of making sure that after her heroine defeats something apocalyptically big, there's still something left to pose a credible threat. Sometimes she does it by depowering Jo, and sometimes she does it by coming up with a bigger apocalypse for next time, and so far it hasn't gotten annoying.

One thing I did find irritating: throughout the series, it is hinted, implied, and sometimes outright said More...

Well, I just finished reading book 5 in the Weather Warden series... and wow, what a wild ride!

Jo's thrown into one huge mess after the other, again! The bad things just don't stop coming, the impending doom chases her across the country. And I'm not just talking about the serious weather issues, or the crazy Djinn that just keeps popping up. Hell, I'm not even talking about the huge fire! How about Mother Nature waking up and deciding she's pissed off with the way humans have mishan More...

After narrowly escaping the event of the last book, Joanne has a whole new challenge, maybe the biggest one yet, motherhood. When Johnathan sacrificed himself for David to be restored as a djinn, he also gave life to Joanne's djinn daughter, Imara. She never really believed Imara could possibly be able to be born without David's death, and she really did not expect her to be born as a six foot tall amazonian goddess. Imara looks just like Joanne, just made "exotic." Now that all the no More...

Joanne Baldwin does not have an easy life. She's no longer a weather warden, but trouble keeps finding her. The Earth is going nuts, with out of control weather systems, eartquakes and forest fires. Apparently Mother Nature has decided that humans are a plague and she is going to eradicate them. The truth proves to be far more complex than even that.

Joanne's also a mother . . . of a full-grown half-djinn/half-human daughter who is two days old. Her lover (and father of her child, David) More...

Firestorm is another fantastic addition to the Weather Warden series. This time, Jo must find a way to stop the Earth from waking and resetting the world as the humans have mistreated the planet over the last ten thousand years. The closest she can get to communicating her message to the Mother is consulting the oracles. Her mission to consult all three oracles has become complicated as she must bypass all of the obstacles standing in her way - the Djinn, the Djinn who have taken back their free More...

I cannot stress enough how much I LOVE the Weather Warden series. Firestorm is another fantastic installment in this series. Joanne Baldwin is the kind of heroine little girls secretly dream of becoming. A kickass, irreverent, woman whose loyalty and unwavering desire to protect others always places her in harm's way. And David, Joanne's Djinn boyfriend...if women could find men like him to fulfill the fantasy of being loved by a sinfully beautiful man that could do, well, anything, no corked bo More...

woo hooo... seru sekali
David pun diribetin sama Djinn2 yang memb More...

This is the fifth book in Caine's Weather Warden series. I loved the first two, but the third and fourth were increasingly disappointing (I think there was too much emotional angst and too little elemental butt-kicking for my taste). And maybe a bit too much soft porn and not enough car porn (man, oh, man can this woman write delicious passages about the beauties of fine driving machines! *bliss*).

This book reminds me why I fell in love with the series. It's still imperfect, but there More...

It's another 3.75 star book for me. It was a bit frantic, the stuff with Eamon was all unnecessary, the parts with Imara never really rang true, but it was still very entertaining. And what I have to give the author the most credit for is having a really strong plan for the series, it isn't one of those series where the author had a good idea for the first few books but just sort of wings it after that. It reminds me of Butcher's Dresden in that way (yes, not to his level), things keep coming to More...

I've always struggled with the Weather Warden series. The worldbuilding seemed curiously one-sided, I never liked Joanne, and the plots just raised my blood pressure. The only reason I read this far was because I wanted more David. But really, David hardly ever appears in the books. In fact, I have to wonder how he and Jo fell so deeply in love, since they apparently hardly ever see each other.

Firestorm was just the straw that broke my back. In the beginning of the book, Jo is one of t More...

**Synopsis** The genie is out of the bottle. Rogue Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin is racing to New York to warn her former colleagues of the impending apocalypse. An ancient agreement between the Djinn and the Wardens has been broken, and the furious Djinn, slaves to the Wardens for millennia, are now free of mortal control. With more than half the Wardens unaccounted for in the wake of the Djinn uprising, Joanne realizes that the natural disasters they've combated for so long were merely symptom More...

I read the first 4 books in the Weather Warden series last year after spotting them in my local library. I enjoyed them so much that the whole series has been on my book wishlist ever since. I still haven't got round to buying them so when I spotted book 5 & 6 in the library just before Christmas I just had to read them so I can catch up on what is happening with Jo & David! As it was almost a year ago when I read the first 4 books I really wish I'd started the series again from the beginning More...

I've said it before and I'll say (type) it again here, Rachel Caine is one of the most courageous writers out there. She is utterly fearless when it comes to wiping the floor with her protagonist, Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin.

In book #5 of the Weather Warden series, not only have the Djinn gone rogue, so to speak, but the Mother (as in Mother Nature) is awakening. And boy is she pissed. Good luck to Jo and the other Wardens who must deal with the host of out-of-control fires, sto More...

I was all excited to pick up Firestorm by Rachel Caine. So very excited. My reading of it, though, is rather lacking in the experience I wanted. It was utterly a fine read... and that was the problem.

The Weather Warden series has continued to wow and surprise me... even if upon initial reads my opinion is minor my esteem grows with examination. These books build, frankly. They grow in the reader's mind... they gain strength.

This one, however, was the first book in the ser More...

Holy crumb! How much did I love this ending? So much that I'm queuing up book 6 for immediate reading. That was one seriously awesome cliffhanger. Seriously awesome.

One thing that really stood out for me here was getting more information on the demon marks and seeing the reason behind why they have this drive to infect. I loved the entire Oracle/Mother connection. As always, I liked that Joanne goes practically orgasmic over her cars, her shoes and her clothes. The storyline w More...

Joanne Baldwin is at it again, and this time the stakes are even higher. With the Earth itself waking up and getting a bit miffed about what humanity has been up to for the last few thousand years, Jo becomes embroiled in a race against time to avert an apocalypse while putting out fires (literally and figuratively) as best she can along the way.

My head is spinning a bit with so much packed into these pages. All the books in this series have been fast-paced page turners, but this one More...

The no holds barred, pedal to the metal pace of these books is going to be the death of me. I didn't even feel like I read this one. More like it was downloaded to my brain in a series of high-speed images and I was left to make sense of it all after the fact. In this installment, the Wardens organization is a complete shambles. Both David and Lewis have inherited unwanted leadership burdens, becoming the unwilling de facto leaders of what's left of the free Djinn and the Wardens respectively. I More...

So I got so wrapped up in Windfall that I went straight onto the next book. By now you've probably lost all hope for Jo and David and are looking in the direction of Lewis again. Unfortunately, they're in the middle of a djinn uprising and things aren't looking good for the wardens, or even the human race. Mother Earth is waking up and she's not too happy with what humans have done in her absence. Great pacy stuff and I think her characters have enough dimensions to not be too predictable.

I have no idea whether to rate this 3 or 4 stars. The beginning was kind of iffy, but then it got into the usual snarky, action-packed Weather Warden goodness, and I was happy. Imara? Weird, but I can deal with her. More Lewis = yay. I liked the return of the Demon Marks and the appearance of actual Demons. The Oracles were cool. Epic things were going down, and I really enjoyed that!

And then I hit the ending.

Dear... god. What? Oh god. My first reaction was "omg, NOOOOO More...

Weather Warden Joanne is running to New York to warn the others about the Djinn war., The earth is waking up and is angry about the state of affairs. Joanne tries to contact the Oracle who can talk to the mother, but is thwarted by other Djinn. More than half of the Warden's are missing or dead by the time Joanne talks to the first Oracle.
She finds the Oracle has been infected with a deamon mark ...will Joanne take on another demon mark to save the Earth? Or will she be too late?

This has to be the absolute best book I have read thus far in this series. I could not put it down. I was on the edge of my seat this entire book. As in all the other books, I have found many senarios occuring at one time, although it is like they are having to fight for the front time because so much of Joanne is torn in so many directions. Imara, Joanne daughter, I absolutely love this new character. She is thriving for the love of her parents, just as a child, but she is a grown adult. David More...

Hmmmm.... Not as good as book four which was my favorite because it finally slowed down a touch and let me see what Joanne's normal life was like. In Firestorm it was back to crazy fast-paced mad dash to save the world. I was thinking as I was about half way through that I probably wouldn't read the next one. However, Ms. Caine managed to throw a curve ball at the end that really hooked me and now I will have to read number 6.

The CRAZY ending makes up for what was a really complicated and interesting part of this ongoing story but ultimate left me feeling like this wasn't a full book. There are some great moments in this book in the series, but there are other parts that aren't well explained and the end gets SO confusing that I'm not entirely sure what happened. Maybe that's intended. The actual ending is quite the freaking cliffhanger. Yeesh! *downloads #6 immediately*

This is Book 5 of the "Weather Warden" series, and what an exhausting ride. Whew! There are 2 or 3 fight scenes in every chapter, some so abstract they're hard to follow, and lots of dashing from one catastrophe to the next in-between each fight scene. Then a confusing cliffhanger ending that is completely unsatisfying. This could have been another good novel in this series, but instead it overdosed on excessive action to the point of monotony. I guess you can tell I'm not an acti More...

Well once again the action never lets up in this fifth book of the Weather Warden series. Joanne is caught in the middle of a Djinn civil war and a sudden imbalance in the earth’s symbiotic relationship with mankind; consequences of thousands of years of meddling by the Warden organization. But she is the kind of girl to never say die as she once again refuses to walk away, back down and/or point the blame at anyone else. This was one hell of a ride and once again the ending leads us kicking More...

Full of action that keeps you flipping the pages. The stakes are higher than ever for Jo and she can't even rely on David, the man she loves. Instead, her half-Dijnn daughter, Imara, is her only backup as she tries to stop the world from destroying the humans and avoids Ashan, David's rival.

It's ends with a major cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.

This series is definitely not boring. It seems like there's never a break in action. I know that's kind of the point, but sometimes it's hard to keep track of whats going on.

Jo is trying to get a message to the mother before she finishes waking up and wipes out humans to start over fresh. Ashan (bad djinn) is trying to stop her, destroy all wardens, and steal David's powers.
