OMG!!! I am still coming down from my book high with this one!! I seriously love Cameo Renae and her work. The whole flow of Hidden Wings is captivating, I loved the different emotions that were brought out of the characters, I loved the humor, the passion, and most of all I love Dom!!! I can't say any more about him you will just have to read all about how hot and hilarious of a character he is in Hidden Wings. Cameo has such a way with her writing that is completely unique and I love it.

Yes...I am also rating my second novel a 5 star. >.< Not only because I'm the author, but because I actually reeeally LOVE this story! I literally fell in love with the characters, and am excited to continue this amazing adventure with them.
Even though this first book takes place within the span of a few days, if it were drawn out any more...it would have been veeery boring. I like to write things that keep the reader's attention, and don't like boring, or drawn out descriptions or scenes...more

Okay so as much as I really did enjoy this - and trust me i did - I have to give this a 3.5 but its closer to a four hence the four stars you see. Why you ask, well let me tell you more about everything.

So the story is over the span of two to three days, and a majority of it happens on one. And okay it works for some books it really does but because this is the first in a series, and everything is new to the main character i really felt like it needed to be slowed down and taken even a couple m...more Okay so as much as I really did enjoy this - and trust me i did - I have to give this a 3.5 but its closer to a four hence the four stars you see. Why you ask, well let me tell you more about everything.

So the story is over the span of two to three days, and a majority of it happens on one. And okay it works for some books it really does but because this is the first in a series, and everything is new to the main character i really felt like it needed to be slowed down and taken even a couple more days. A few more days of gathering information, a few more days of acceptance before we thrown completely and utterly into the fray. So this is a double edge sword for me because i like when stories start off running, and i like the constant pace of the story but okay hidden wings - if you haven't figured it out yet is about angels and what nots, so yup there i said it, deal with it. But anyways Emma doesn't know about them until the day everything happens, and she has good freak outs but keeps moving which i love but at the same time there was just soooo much happening that the reader didn't get time to breathe and say okay, let me get my head around this. She is in a car accident, then moved away before her parents' funeral, so Cameo Renae its okay to slow down a bit too. I wanted her to have closure and a funeral scene i think would have been nice for Emma and for the reader. There was a lot of parts actually i felt that we could have just had a slower day.

So plot in general, most angel books i have read deal with Nephilim, so that was pretty natural but there was some new twist in this book that i really enjoyed and gave the book a different edge from other angel books. It wasn't pushy about religion but i have only read one i think that was super pushy about it. but that is not about that book but this one. Again things moved quickly which can be a really good thing but sometimes its okay and i truly felt since this was the first in a series that it should have been slowed down some.

Okay my character rant, ready?

Emma is our main girl, and when i read the summary i was thinking okay she is going to be one of those girls that are like, my parents dying? huh don't care i will move on. Well this happened two days ago so no, she doesn't and thank god for that because its true human emotion, something i can connect with, well not on the i lost my parents thing but the emotions. i couldn't possibly begin to understand how that must feel, and that i love that even if she is sad she isn't whiny or antsy, she deals with it as best as one could after losing their parents. she doesn't get much of a chance to grow because the time is so short and things happen right after each other she doesn't have time to reflect but its a series or at least i know there will be a second one, so she has time i am not to concerned about that. there were times i don't know if it was because the mood i was in today or what but i just didn't like her? she had these moments of seemingly very mature, and witty. Look i am going to say this right now i am not a mature person when i want to be, and that is a lot of times, so i like playful fun characters but her playful fun moods came probably at the worst timings for me. it was i think suppose to going for more serious and there can be a nice balance of playfullness and seriousness i think though this book has yet to achieve it, and thats not a problem because hey its a hard thing to do. which then leads me to talk about the boys.

Kade, well i love his name, super awesome. But anyways THANK FREAKING GOD! Ugh do you know how many books i read with the main guy this broody overbearing serious, oh-i-can't-possibly-love-you-because-of-my-past kind of guys? Seriously look at my list of books and you will see most book gents are like that, and its okay because they are fun to read sometimes and who doesn't want the mysterious dangerous type? Well i am so thankful for Kade because he is unbelievably sweet, truly he is, but more than that i can definitely feel like he could become a very playful character. I feel like we didn't get enough time with him in a normal, non-stressed out, crazy, action scene in order to really get that from him but i sensed it in his character and i will gladly read more to find out his character is like that!

People who hate the love triangle are going to love this!

There is: James, Malachi, Dom, Alex, Thomas...im pretty sure that is it. So... these five are Angels? I don't know because we never get told one way or the other. I am going to assume so but they act very young, the only one that seemingly had a shiningly different personality was Malachi and i thought for a good half of the book he was in his late 20s....but i don't think he is....character descriptions got a little lost i think, i mean don't go on a 20 page rant about how each character looks but don't also do character descriptions all at once... Dom was a little flirty, but we don't get a whole lot of them separate from each other so....characters started to blend...sad but true and i was hoping that i would get to rant about each one of their characteristics but alas...there isn't much to say....as i said before they are all angels...im pretty sure but they are hired by Alaine....i think...and oh jeeze seriously there attitudes bothered me sometimes too, i enjoyed that they could be light and fun during action scenes because it is nice with all the killing we have a bit of comic relief but like i said their characteristics became the same and it was sad we didn't get much variety. Well can't say that about James because im pretty sure he has two lines in the entire book....just saying...

So yeah....there are a couple other characters that i would like to rant about but i am going to because of spoilers. so moving on from that... OH before i forget, none of the other guys i mentioned up there, or any really try anything with Emma and Emma doesn't have conflicting feelings for two guys, its Kade right away. So thank God because i was a little concerned when i started to read it that there was going to be like this super strange ass like pentagon love angle? But nope thank you very much! some harmless flirting but other than that we are good!

So the ending... cliffhanger. i think i going to be fine but at near the end so much had happened that i am just like okay i need a bit of a break anyways....but yup its a cliffhanger no doubt about that. CLIFFHANGER.

So my last piece of advice? If you like Angel stories, and you are looking for a good quick, entertaining read, pick it up try it out, and form your own opinion, because honestly what do i know?

NO! That is what I actually cried, out loud, at 3 am when I finished this book. Cameo, Cameo, Cameo! How could you do this to me?

I read this book a month ago and I am STILL thinking about it. I can't wait for the next installment.

What would you do if you woke up in a hospital bed to find you had lost everything? Wouldn't have taken it as easy as Emma did that is for certain. She has to grow up well before a 17year old should. This is one of those books you stumble across by accident and there is no way you can wait for the next one...!!

I knew from the beginning that this was going to be a fast paced book and I loved that it was. It wasn’t too fast that you didn’t know what was going on, but there was always something happening. The whole book only spans within a couple of days. I found the story line very interesting and I loved how Mrs. Renae put her own spin on things. There were still a lot of unanswered questions by the end, but I know that they will be answered in the next installment. All the characters were really relateable and I like all the different personalities everyone had. Oh and the fight scenes were amazing. I felt like I was actually there and seeing it happen. I could picture everything in my mind perfectly. GOSH I loved this book. The ending of the book leaves you hanging on the end of your bed…..or seat. I was just dumbstruck with what happen at the end. I was just like no way no way NO WAY!!!!! How could you do this to me Mrs. Renae HOW?!?!?! LOL and I’m not going to be able to get answers until the next one and that is FOREVER AWAY!!!!! I need to know. I’ve lost sleep wanting to know what is going to happen. OK, I’m going to stop my rant now LOL.

By the end of the book it will have you wanting more!!!!!!!!!!!! And have you question, Light or Dark. Which would you choose?

Emma- I could tell that she was a very sweet girl, but she has been through so much that we didn’t really get to see it. Her death was always in the forefront of her mind, which made her sad most of the book. But I could tell by the end of the book that she is going to be a force to wreckin with in the next book.

Kade- Kade is a little wicked. No, he is not evil. It’s the grins, touches, and conversations that he has with Emma. On the other hand he is a jokester. He is loyal to a fault and would do anything to protect the ones he loves. He proves that over and over again in the book.(less)

Omgoodness, this book is amazing.. I didn't want it to end! Author Cameo Renae has such a wonderful way of drawing you right into the story as it's being told. I sure hope that there is a follow up, I must go check and see.

I just love Ms. Cameo Renae! I really enjoy reading her Young Adult books. Even with all the drama and craziness that goes on within the story, her books just make a person feel good…well at least they make me feel good! I always love the romance in Cameo Renae’s novels. Her writing always brings me in and makes me want to have that romance. Granted, the relationship of “Hidden Wings” is just a tad bit complicated…but the love is undeniable and I want to experience THAT kind of love within my life. I know if I experience that love, chances are slim that it will be with a gorgeous guardian angel like Kade! But hey, a girl can dream right?! Anyways, I am getting a little off track here thinking about the lovely Kade. I think this Young Adult Paranormal Fantasy novel is a 5 STAR read. I was intrigued throughout the entire book and I was left definitely wanting more. You’ll see what I mean when you read “Hidden Wings.”

Seventeen-year-old Emma Wise has a loving family and amazing friends…until a fateful car accident takes all that away. When Emma wakes up in the hospital, she learns that her parents died and she was the sole survivor of the accident. Overwhelmed with not knowing what will happen with her now, Emma discovers she will be moving to Alaska to live with her long-lost Aunt – one she never knew existed. Parting from her loyal friends will be very difficult…but after meeting the boy who will escort her there, things may be a little easier. Kade, Emma’s escort, is stunning! There is an immediate attraction between the two, but not an ordinary attraction…no, this was a burning electricity between them. At least Emma has Kade to look forward to now, because Emma’s new life in Alaska is the stuff of horror stories.

Everything Emma thought she know about life completely changed the minute she stepped foot in Alaska. Things barely imaginable even in nightmares were real, and they wanted Emma dead. Problem is…Emma has no idea why and is completely oblivious to everything going on around her. Eventually too many unexplainable and life-threatening things are occurring and the truth needs to be revealed. As I earlier said, I love the romance between Emma and Kade. Although this romance is definitely frowned upon (and you’ll learn why) their connection is undeniable. I love all the characters in “Hidden Wings.” Everyone was great in his or her own way, and I feel like no person was replaceable. Everyone had a reason for being in this story. I would actually love to see a short story focused on one of the Guardian men. That would be so awesome! Every Guardian was hot, funny, and just really enjoyable to read about. I loved the Guardians good sense of humor and their admirable strength…it definitely made for a good action scene. I loved the dedication and friendship all the characters had to each other. I really just liked everything about this 5 STAR book and I would recommend it to fans of Cameo Renae and her book “In My Dreams.” I also think that Young Adult Paranormal Fantasy readers will love this book. So go ahead and add it to your TBR list and buy this book as soon as it releases!

I'll try, so please excuse me if my English is not correct.

This book was a 171 pages long rollercoaster.
The darkling, the angels, the fallen, the nephilim...
Alaska, the cold, the dark, the house, I could see it all.
It was like I was there, amazing.

Goosebumps came, tears in my eyes, emotions overwhelmed me.
When I finished the book I needed some time to clear my mind, before I could read another book.

Absolutely amazing. I probably had higher hopes going into this book because I loved her previous book so well. I am happy to say it was even better than I could have dreamed. The characters are so vividly real. Cameo has a way of pulling you in to her stories like only few Amazing authors can. I feel like this book took forever to read! I was on like pg 70 something & they just made it to Alaska! The book had a really strong idea behind it tho. The plot was interesting and kept me reading but I felt like what happened in this entire book could have taken place within the 1st 1/4 of a book. She could have expanded it more and made a truly amazing book! For example the book I just finished reading I was on pg 87 and they'd already left home went to Vegas where they were chased down...more I feel like this book took forever to read! Where there was an interesting plot twist. And all I got from this book at the same point was she was in an accident her parents past away in and she is being escorted to alaska,by 2 odd men,to live with an aunt she didn't know she had.

Them when she finally gets to Alaska it's like she gets a 10 cent tour, and so do we with the lack of description. Then the book is trust into action you don't understand because there is no background info to help.. It was floundering at this point a bit. I love action in my books but it was really jerky the way it read pulling u in 3 different directions. Even at the end you don't get the whole story. She never truly has her "talk" with her "aunt" and it just seemed jumbled and thrown together.

But like I said it had a good thought process if she could build the characters more instead of jumping into action,to avoid answers, this book would have been much better. Describe the setting not just say it's a beautiful Alaskan landscape.. But why it's a beautiful Alaskan landscape.. Understand?

The book was just to disconnected for my taste and tho I'd love to see what happens to her and her family and kade ... I don't know if I'll pick up book #2.

Good plot idea but needs a lot of work on character decelopment, needs to add a more descriptive setting. And get more done than a plane ride by page 70, and always end it with some answers/closure but also make it a sort of cliff hanger so we want to pick up book 2. Those are my suggestions for the book.

I thought the premise of this book was great, but the writing was not stellar. Apart from the typos (yielding a sword vs wielding a sword) and some inconsistencies (the beginning talks about not having a senior year with friends, but then it's suddenly November 2 days later), the characters were interesting, but could have been more developed.

The book spans only a few days but there's so much action packed into it and the characters are amazing! I was captivated from start to finish!

The beginning is a little heartbreaking for Emma but she's an incredibly strong girl! Once she arrived in Alaska and started getting answers to some pretty interesting questions, the book really picked up speed!

I scarcely know where to start! I was afraid I would feel kind of mediocre about this book being that angels are getting so popular in the genre these days, but man oh man was I wrong. Now, yes there are some similarities to what else is out there in terms of there being fallen angels, nephilim, etc., but the way everything played out made it feel pretty fresh and was truly just plain riveting!

Kade is adorable, brave, sweet, and cocky enough to fun, but not obnoxious. His dedication to Emma and her safety is so compelling that I just couldn’t get enough.

Emma is just so endearing. She’s far from being anything close to the “too stupid to live” type of heroine. She’s got a good head on her shoulders, quick thinking, and brave despite having no super powers. She’s so relatable and what’s also great to me is that she’s 17 – and actually acts 17. She’s mature enough not to be a child, but still has teenage moments such as being upset over her senior year and leaving her friends.

It was really Emma and embarking on the journey through her eyes that got me very connected to this book entirely. There is no shortage of emotional investment as I cared about everything she learned and experienced. I even cried towards the end as things got critical. It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten so attached to a tale and its heroine from a YA novel.

My biggest complaint is that the ending is a horrible cliffhanger. If I wasn’t afraid of being a jerk by pestering the author, I would beg for the next installment. I really can’t wait for book 2!

If you’re looking for a story that will stay with you (in a good way) long after you turn the last page, Hidden Wings is a captivating story that I would recommend to all YA paranormal fans. Go get this awesome book and settle in for a great read!(less)

Emma--this poor girl. I mean, very few books have me in tears before the end of the first chapter, but Emma's story will get you right in the soft spots from pretty much the first page. The author has pretty accurately described grief, and I can also relate to the idea that, as much as losing a loved one sucks, sometimes you just have to suck it up and carry on (at least until no one is looking, you know?). Emma is tough but not to the point of being cold or reckless. She's smart--sometimes showing signs of brilliant military strategy (which I also expect will be further explored in coming installments). She's fierce and loyal and considerate. In short, not really your average 17-year old. I am loving her internal rants, too!

There are other likable characters, too, but they're playing mostly supporting roles at this point. Suffice it to say that there is no shortage of hot, badass guys and gals in this book. Plenty of action, too. Let me say that again... PLENTY of action. I was not bored or tempted to skip ahead at any point while reading Hidden Wings, and I definitely appreciate it when an author can keep things moving while still providing a richly detailed set on which the action takes place. It's that perfect balance of backdrop and storyline that allows the reader to completely immerse themselves in the lives of the characters without feeling like they're being led by the nose through product placement ads and chapter-long descriptions of the clothes each character is wearing at any particular moment (or the architecture, or the scenery, or the gossip floating around the lunchroom). Firstly Id like to acknowledge the beautiful cover.. Its definitely drool worthy..I may or may not have stared at the cover for 10 minutes..

Now on a personal note.. Ive lived in California for a few months a few years ago and i hated it hate hate hated it.. Id take Alaska in a heartbeat! Im a cold weather kind of girl.. I appreciate the need for Owl Snuggies and a book on all those cold and inspiring days and nights.. Emma however doesnt seem to be a cold weather girl.. Dont you just love how off topic i get..
Emma’s Aunt Alaine is widowed and pretty well off.. Well off enough to send a couple of chaperons to pick Emma up from California and travel with her to Alaska.. One such chaperon is quite handsome Kade, Emma is immediately drawn to Kade.. She can even sense his presence before hes in the room.. He relaxes her when she needs it.. electrifies her when they touch.. and puts her to sleep when she needs it..
Traveling to Alaska just got a whole lot more enjoyable with Kade at her side.. Although she is noticing some strange occurences.. And kade cant/wont answer her questions even after a freaky incident in the bathroom of the Alaska airport… He keeps referring her to her aunt.. And assures her she will be safe with her aunt.. but safe from what?! AHH..
The struggles between good and evil… Fallen Angels.. Nephilim.. and Darklings.. Now i will say i was a little slightly mislead but i think it couldve been totally my fault.. As the question was posted on the cover.. What happens when darkness and light collide.. when i first started reading i thought okay cool shes obviously the light and will fall for the darkness.. Yeah.. thats not what happen..
Hidden Wings is action packed.. seriously Emmas first few days after the accident are a whirlwind.. I was captivated by Renaes storytelling..I couldnt function in society properly while reading this book.. Life kept calling me away and all i could think of is DAMMIT I WANNA FINISH MY BOOK! and when i was done.. i felt satisfied.. especially because i had a late night twitter convo with Renae and learned shes working on book 2! So im one happy camper.. and i LOVED that the book definitely backed up this beautiful cover..(less)

I actually want to give it 1 star. because I hate a cliffhanger when the book if so good that you might melt all the way to the finishing line.
