Merwin and Webster have crafted a very good novel. It may not be the best writing, but it is inspiring. While a minor work, its content is really worth reading. Charlie Bannon is the kind of capable manager most people would like to work for. He is hard-driving, but fair.

I'm not surprised that Calumet K pushed all of Ayn Rand's buttons: strong, hard-working, honest man Charlie Bannon achieves great things - construction of a two-million-bushel grain elevator - despite the interference of mediocre men.
