A charming little classic-fantasy-setting story that moves along at a brisk clip, this Bardic tale (by which I mean a tale ABOUT a Bard, not a tale told by one) really is carried by it's lead character, Malachai. His internal struggle to understand his potential is what drives the story, but even as he's conflicted he reads as incredibly charming and self-confident, and you come away wanting to read more about him. Which, really, is the only mark of good characterization that matters...

This was a fun story. When I started reading it I thought I knew exactly where it was going, but I was pleasantly surprised! Worth a read. :)
