This doesn't read like a short story, it reads like the first chapter of a book... which I suspect it is. The short story essentially introduces us to the two main characters while setting up the background context of how and why they've come to be where they are at this point in time. This short story was very short. It had next to nothing to do with the Irish Drinking Socks themselves. All the protagonist, Lucy did was find them on top of a basket of fresh laundry. Sorry but this book is getting 2 stars for misnaming the story and a couple of grammar issues.

I agree with Justine that it reads as the opening chapters of a book. It was average nothing very exciting plus the bottom of some pages were cut off. I would not use this for students' as an example of a short story.

The book is definitely the start of a novel and comes to a sudden halt. Leaves you wanting more. Hopefully it is the beginning of a novel.

Harmikseni Irish Drinking Socks (lupaava nimi!) ei ollutkaan novelli vaan enemmänkin kirjan ensimmäinen luku. Eikä niitä irlantilaisista ryyppäämissukistakaan ollut pahemmin puhetta.

Too many adjectives & small chat for myself but possibly the entire picture would be ok. Reads quickly.

This short story was a nice read. I enjoyed it enough to watch for future books by Maia Sepp.
