College freshman Jamie Cameron was warned by her older brother Luke to stay away from his teammates on the basketball team. Most of them were notorious for their random hook-ups and bad boy ways, and Luke wanted to keep his beautiful sister far away from them.
But Jamie falls hard for one of them anyway---the star player, Chase Reston, who has a magnetic sex appeal and a re...more

I don't read very many short stories or novellas, but something about the description of this book made me want to give it a chance.

Jamie heads to the same college where her brother is the captain of the basketball team. Jamie can't figure out why her brothers is making sure not to be seen with Jamie around school. She finally confronts him and finds out that he was trying to shelter her from his team mates, who all have well deserved reputations as "players". One particular player sticks out to...more

Fame, Love and other Lessons is the story of a simple girl whose life changes from night to morning when her boyfriend is picked to play in the NBA and she is discovered as a model. Immerse in a world of luxury, parties, paparazzies and appearances, Jamie is trying to become and adult woman and dealing with love.

The love story moves way to fast, it's believable at some points but there's so much happening between lines and paragraph. There is a lot that is not being told and it gives you a sense...more

Fame, Love, and Other Lessons was a cute, romantic story. While the setting was more fairytale than what your average person will ever experience (why can’t all of us girls be beautiful, size 2 models?!), the relationship challenges are real. Overall, the mix of fairytale and real life provided a quick and easy read.

The biggest problem with Fame, Love, and Other Lessons was the lack of editing. There were too many missing words and other nuisanc...more

This book is an absolutely great read. I really enjoyed it. It’s a story of a growing love, not a love at first sight story. The characters were strong but not so strong that you couldn’t relate, as they also had very real vulnerabilities and fears that held them back. Aside from the main girl character, the author did a great job of not making everyone in the book beautiful. This includes the main male character, who although had a great body was not simply gorgeous. I absolutely loved that. It...more

This was a cute story about Chase, a college basketball player and Jamie a volleyball player who meet through her brother. They fall in love, he gets drafted by NBA and she becomes a model. They break up because of a misunderstanding and three days later Jamie is dating a Rick star she met at some party.

She starts to feel something for the Irish rock star while she's still in love with her exboyfriend. She drops out of college to pursue her career of modeling. Her career takes of once she's see...more

This one breaks the generalizations of your regular "players" and "models" and makes two very sweet and very real characters join the ranks of the wolves.

I liked it - the whole "girl next door" appeal of the main character and internally cringed with the girl as she stood on the proverbial fork in the road and nearly made mistakes that would have changed the book drastically :)

The plot is simple but ups and downs seem very real. It was also a fairly quick read and I definitely enjoyed it.

However...more

I didn’t actually buy this book, but I read it. Last week I noticed my girlfriend not being able to put down her kindle and I asked why. Well, the answer was this book. So out of curiosity, when she was at work I picked up her kindle and started to read this.

When I first started reading this, I had no idea what to expect because I was coming in completely blind. But before I knew it, a few hours passed and I was half way done with it.

I actually ended up finishing it in two days. The story was en...more

Love, Fame and Other Lessons is a cute little book that I read this week. This book is fun and does a good job or portraying young love and the challenges that go along with it. Parts of it really kind of reminded me of a movie that I once watched called Love and Basketball. The characters were great and the author did a good job of detailing their blooming relationship. I was a little apprehensive about reading this because it showed up in the Adult section of Smashwords but I wasn't nearly as...more

I was a little hesitant with this book. I soon realized after the first few chapters that I rather enjoyed this book. It had a couple twists bad turns in it which kept me turning the pages. My only complaint is that I wished there was a bit more ending to the story. I felt like the "resolution" between Chase & Jamie's story was a bit rushed in the end and felt like I was left hanging a bit. Otherwise I did like the book and look forward to other books by this author.

We have all dreamed of fame and fortune. It seems like life would be perfect if we just had those two things but in Fame, Love, and Other Lessons it is not all it seems. We all know the joy of young love and in this book we watch the havoc that over night success can have on it. You'll laugh, feel sad, get super mad, but most of all you will enjoy this book!

Mildly erotic romance involving celebrities. I enjoyed the book and the characters but removed a star from the rating due to the abrupt ending.

I would give the story 5 stars, but the editing needed help. It was unbelievable at times, but for some reason it grabbed me. Loved the heroine.

Jamie was your typical innocent, beautiful, and smart college freshman. She went to visit her older brother Luke when she met Chase. Chase was a star basketball player who fell in love with Jamie. He gets drafted and she gets discovered in the modeling world as a result.
I LOVED this book. I think it shows you that even good, level headed young adults can enter the world of glitz and glamour and still make mistakes. The celebrity world took two young and impressionable people in love and nearly...more
