As you may know, I’ve started intermingling reading YA with adult books and this is of course one of the latter. Mostly, Not the Marrying Kind by Nicola Marsh is pure, unadulterated entertainment and a fun and easy read. I really enjoyed the story and the writing was good, the dialogue was superb and there were no cheesy lines, thank goodness which is something I ALWAYS look out for in an adult novel. My only slight bugbear as a wannabe copy editor is that the word “bloody” was used as a curse w...more

Nicola Marsh has done it again - with less food this time, thankfully. It was all I could do not to gnaw my arm off with hunger while reading her previous novel, Busted in Bollywood. This novel is charming, sexy, and just plain HOT. I enjoyed every page of this romantic story! It wasn't on the schedule yet, but I'm so glad I pushed it up. :o)

So Poppy needs to help her sister's business, and Beck needs to help his own. They meet for what ends up being mutual benefit and enter...more

This is what I would call good old romance. Thoroughly enjoyable, solid love story with easily likeable characters. Throw in a scoop of steam (not too much, the emphasis of the story is on what happens on the emotional side), a couple of twists and turns, and you've got yourself a very nice way of spending a couple of hours.

I liked. The first, but not the last, novel I've read from the author.

And Nicola Marsh did it again! I just love her fluent and witty writing style and the characters were delightful in Not the Marrying Kind as well! A very entertaining story, my detailed review will be posted soon, until then put it on your wishlist, I'm sure you'll want to read it! ;-)

Excellent read. Just LOVE marriage of convenience stories and this one's lovely. Suggest you just slide into that sunlounger and enjoy. Yum.

Imagine finding yourself in love with your own husband? Is that so strange? It was for Poppy Blackwood nee Collins.

Why did Beck Blackwood ask Poppy Collins to be his bride when they'd only just met? Why didn't he even have an engagement ring ready? And why didn't she mind?

Well, business arrangements are not about romance, love and happy endings. They are about mutually beneficial arrangements. His not being a family man was holding up the signing of the biggest contract of his career. She needed...more

I feel like I've been reading and reviewing a lot of heavier books lately and I needed a quick break. Nicola Marsh has always been a favorite Harlequin Presents author of mine and when I saw this title of hers from the summer, it looked like it would fit the bill perfectly. A millionaire, a marriage of convenience and Vegas equaled a light adult contemporary read that was a cute refresher.

Poppy Collins’ sister Sara is depressed and completely out of commission, thanks to her scum-sucking soon-to...more

HOLY GORGEOUS BILLIONAIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Entangled has corner the market on Romances! Man oh man Nicola I LOVED LOVED this story so much that I read it in four hours!I have been reading a lot of romances and erotica and Entangled has the market on it right now! With all that rambling let me get right to the review.

This book had a fun, modern feel to it and was short & I liked the characters. The heroine Poppy had sass and humour, her sister who practically raised her since her plastic surgeon parents were busy moving in uppity circles has been spiralling since her husband walked out , so to make sure her sister's party business doesn't go bust, she comes up with the Divorce Diva, but there is a catch it has to be anonymous since her sister would flip.

Beck the hero is successful and rich but one bad e...more

I just could not give it a five star. The book was good and the characters endearing but it just was missing something. Beck and Poppy both believe marriage is for chumps for different reasons. Poppy started a divorce blog after her sister started going through a divorce. After seeing many friend and family members go through divorce and seeing her parents focus on only themselves she does not see marriage as a good solution. Beck's parents were all about getting the next high until on killed th...more

If you love romantic comedies, you are gonna love Nicola Marsh's new book, Not the Marrying Kind.

I simply fell in love with the heroine, Poppy, who is sassy, sexy and gives back as good as she gets. And of course, she is not looking for either love or marriage. After all, she is a divorce party organizer who loves wearing poppy red stilletos. Along comes "not the marrying kind" billionaire Beck and sparks fly, hearts go a-boom and witty dialogue ensues!

Nicola has a flair for creating strong he...more

NOT THE MARRYING KIND is an Entangled Publishing release by author Nicola Marsh.

Beck Blackwood is an alpha hero who is a self made man. But he needs a wife…now! Preferably in name only. Then he collides with Poppy Collins when he decide to throw his friend a divorce party.

Poppy is not interested in marriage anyway as she organizes divorce parties to help people move on after their divorce.

Instant sexual fire ignites when these two characters meet. Poppy is fast with witty comebacks.

Nicola Marsh always manages to dazzle me with her fantastic novels and this time around it was the same only far better ! Yes the brilliant author really blew me away this time.

Not the Marrying Kind was fantastic. The characters of Beck and Poppie were fun, fresh and entertaining. I loved how Poppie was not the kind of girl to back down but instead gave comebacks just as good as she got.

It was wonderful to see how the author brought the characters together with explosive passio...more

Saying this was a predictable story would be stating the obvious. I don't think anyone reading this book would expect the ending to be any different. Actually, it's the kind of book people read because they want the happy ending, and not something remarkable or original. And it was an enjoyable, light read, that doesn't require a lot of effort from the reader to understand the plot and get into it. The main characters are interesting and witty, both with some baggage to make them more complex, a...more

Not the Marrying Kind was a book I just loved and it was a story that was so cute and entertaining! Not the Marrying Kind had a very Sarah MacLean-y vibe about it and it was rocking.

Beck and Poppy had so much chemistry! There was smoking hot tension between the two of them and some hot hot scenes. I loved both Poppy and Beck. Both were so sure of themselves and confident which made for some fun conversation. Poppy is also so sassy and snarky. I was sad to see their story end. It was the kind of...more

I like the book. Except that I couldn't bring myself picturing out Gerard Butler for Beck Blackwood, as the author described his look-alike, I quote her words, "It.Did.Not.Do.Justice." I switched with Rick Malambri instead. (That's what imagination is for!;p) Which also made the read worthwhile.;)

Not The Marrying Kind was my first read from this author. I would rate it a 3.5 and I would read more from Nicola Marsh. This book had an easy flow, and it went pretty quick. The H/h had great chemistry, two people who had issues with love and marriage from what they both lived threw, but my issue with this book was it was too fast for me. The main characters had all these problems with love and commitment from their childhood, family, and friends and they were in love in like a week? If it was a...more

I actually had some trouble with this book. It's hard to pinpoint what exactly was my problem with it, but it was a little bit disappointing.

The relationship between the two main characters just didn't have the same "oooh" and "aaah" factor that some of the other romance novels I've read recently have had. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad book. It just wasn't quite as sweet, and I really didn't get into the characters as much as I wanted to. I know what I was expecting and hoping from the boo...more

this was a normal length book, but i feel like the characters were a bit underdeveloped. i had issues with poppy too. there were obvious solutions to her issues (financial and otherwise) yet she did not address them. additionally, the flip flopping from both characters gave me whiplash. sex! no sex! love! total dispair. . . the premise was good, but it just kind of missed the mark.

I didn't realize how quick of a read this book was, however, it was a fun, romantic story with likable characters. I enjoyed the story line but I think that even though I did like the characters, I wish the author would have developed them a little more, I wish I could have got to know them better if that makes any sense. But all in all a very cute story and a fun read to unwind to.

this book it's a 3 1/2 up to a 4 stars. the 3 first quarter of the book was good. describing their jobs and family. and also the reasons to their wedding for loyalty and credibility. But about 70% of the book I really started to enjoy it, emotions, love and Beck and Poppy couldn't thinking about each other. It was lovely that he left everything for her because she made him feel.

Uhhh.. Was this the entire book or just the clif notes?! It was like watching a movie preview where they show all the good parts... It was so very rushed the story had no depth , you didn't even have time to get invested in the characters before it was over. It had potentional, even though I feel like its the same story as the marraige bargin, which was a much better book....
