Delphinia Preston is helping raise money for the orphanage by playing Madame Zola, fortune teller. She's happily pulling fortunes out of thin air until the one and only Tristan Chalcroft Nash, Viscount Edmondstone makes his way into her tent. He admits he already knows his future and Del counters by asking why bother having his future read? He's there for the orphans. Duh, Del!

Tristan isn't too happy about the prospect of marrying Lady Florence but she's got not only a large dowry but political connections and is the daughter of a duke. Her dowry would help restore Tristan's family's coffers and restore a crumbling Earldom. Nothing, not even love, can stand in his way to do so. But Tristan may be in for a surprise thanks to another man pursuing Lady Florence at every turn.

Lady Florence tries to let down her ardent admirer but he won't have none of it. He's determined to marry her and will do anything to convince her to be with him.

At first touch, Delphinia sees a future in which she and Tristan are together. Now the only thing is, how and when it will happen? Will there be someone who could hinder their path to forever? And will Lady Florence end up with her ardent admirer?

Overall: I thought I was going to get lost while reading this novella because it is part of a series. How wrong I was. The beauty of this novella is that it's its own short story about two people who find love at first touch. There aren't any outside players--that I know of--who can be found in the other books of the Touch of Seduction series. This was a fun novella that peaked my interest in reading the rest of the Touch of Seduction series. Delphinia sort of annoyed me at first assuming she would end up with Tristan and trying to find a way to get him interested in her. After a while she grew on me. Sometimes Fate is a bit funny and can't be changed. For Tristan and Del, their paths were meant to cross and they were meant to fall in love whether Tristan wanted it to happen or not. I commend his mindset on trying to restore his family's estate back to where it was but he's an idiot for thinking that love isn't worth setting that all aside for.

While I was at the gym I decided I wanted to read a novella. So, todays selection is Touch of a Lady by Mia Marlowe. I don't know how many of you have read book three of Touch of Seduction series. If you haven't then this a great start to introduce Delphinia Preston and Tristan Chalcroft Nash, Viscount Edmonstone, heir to the Earl of Devonwood. How their love was form.

I have to start off by saying that Ms. Marlowe did a great job in capturing the feel of the era while providing a clean voice. Sometimes, with historicals, you get the authors who really did their research, and then laden the narrative with the voice of that era, which was really…*thinking* Let’s just say that things were slower then, so they had a lot of time to say a single sentence, which could, really, last an entire page. The Voice of this book was historical and fresh, which instantly drew...more I have to start off by saying that Ms. Marlowe did a great job in capturing the feel of the era while providing a clean voice. The Voice of this book was historical and fresh, which instantly drew me into the book.

The characters were good as well. I liked the fact that Del wasn’t searching for a man, but her eyes were open for it. She is a really neat character. I would “friend” her on Facebook and put her in my news feed. This wasn’t one of those books where the helpless female had to find a man who would sweep her off her feet and save her from a life of destitution.

The setting was clear. I could see it well. Ms. Marlowe painted a lot of really strong story structural elements to make this a fantastic story.

The thing that killed it for me was the romantic plot element, and because this is a romance, this structural element had to be strong. The connection between the two characters was instant and sizzling, and I loved that! But…Del touches a ring, there’s kissing, a touch of a boob, a wardrobe, and then they’re both instantly in love with each other. And this happened in one day.

Really? I felt the lust. I did. It was hot and lovely. Tingly! Very tingly!

Love? *floundering* No.

The story went on after that, and by the end of the book, I felt the love element. However, it felt like a “love for the sake of love” story for me. It could be that I’m a bit of a cynic. Well, I know I am, but I still love a good romance. I love to be swept away by the discovery of it. There was no “discovery”. It was cop a feel, stir, instant love. I wanted more.

There’s a lot of great potential with this author! She really has a gift for telling a story. There is, however, room to grow. Did I love this story? No. Will I read the next one? YES!(less)
