What a fascinating beginning to a new series by Serena Yates. The concept of a special few individuals becoming The Collector when they die and making use of The Observer, The Messenger, and The Explorer to create a collection to enjoy throughout eternity was absolutely intriguing and I give kudos to the author for the idea and the tale. It was my luck that this Collector wanted good love stories on par with very rare gemstones, as both seem difficult to find.

Zachary was so very easy to love rig

Same content, new cover: out today at Diversity Novels, and a new beginning for the Gemstone Chronicles. If you missed buying it before, maybe you're willing to give it a go now?

It is the first book in a series called "Gemstone Chronicles". This volume sets up the whole idea of the Gemstone Chronicles in a Prologue and Epilogue - together they are a separate storyline, like a frame that surrounds the individual stories. Within that frame, you then have Zachary and Zohar's adventure:

Zachary, abus

The introduction to the 'Gemstone Chronicles' by Serena Yates provides an intriguing glimpse of what promises to be a unique and original series. Instead of one story, it's several very special stories accumulated and immortalized. As in any accumulation, it holds a special significance to the person collecting it; the Gemstone Chronicles collection is no exception. The Collector, in this particular case, is guided and aided by others who help develop and maintain an extraordinary story collecti ...more

Out today, on August 4, 2012, this is the first book in a series called "Gemstone Chronicles". The series is based on an idea that has been with me for over 5 years, in fact some of these stories have existed as short novellas before, had been submitted and rejected back then. But the idea wouldn't let me go.

So, a few months ago I decided to tackle this "job" again and am very happy to say that the resulting first novel is far better (in my own humble opinion, of course) than the original versio

Well, this is great start to what looks to be a brilliant collection of 12 stories. Zachary is living on the streets, he ran away from his abusive adoptive parents four years before, and now he is desperate. he decides to sell the ring that he got from his natural parents before they died and meets Zohar, who both scares him and makes him feel safe. Zohar travelled to Earth to find the match to his Garnet

This was an interesting start to an new series. I liked the way that the prologue introduced us to the ideas of the series before the romance itself began. I enjoyed watching Zachary and Zohar puzzle out the mystery of their matching rings and dealing with those people who weren't happy about what their union would mean. The next story sounds exciting too so I can't wait for that!

This book was disappointing. The characters were not well-developed, the plot was shallow, and the quality of the writing was low. I would not recommend it.

OMG what an boring book.
Parallel worlds are the setting for this first book of a series, one where Zachary is an orphaned young man in a abusive home planning his escape on what we know as Earth, the other where Zohar is a come of age man where he is expected to find a bonded other half on an Earth know as Zelaria.

Zachary's only item of value, left over from his parents who were killed, is a garnet ring and after escaping his abusive home and running as far as he could manage, he reaches a point where he needs money an

I had fun reading this little romance with a touch of Fantasy and Paranormal. I would like to connect with the author and understand why the need for the understory though.
