This was a most interesting read, giving full measure of vicarious experience. However I felt it was marred by constant and unnecessary use of the word "blackfella". If you want, for instance, to recount a conversation that you had with some local person when passing through a town, a conversation with no racial or ethnic content, why not just call him a man? I found this offensive particularly as the book was published in 2012.
Good book, intresting at times, although I found the author fustrating at times, when through sheer bloody mindedness, she seemed determined not to give in, but good on her anyway for not folding and giving up in the end.
Loved the way she talks of the personality of all of the animals, and I will say, it made it clear to me, that just packing up, and going off on a ride around Australia is not as easy as what you may think. Makes you apriciate the success of the early explorers of Australia, and...more
