Shannon (Giraffe Days)
Sylvia is an orphan, rescued twelve years ago from a bordello in France where her mother, a fallen woman and a prostitute, lay dying. Her rescuer was old John Evernden, who had never stopped loving her mother. For twelve years he stayed at his home in the country, away from prying eyes, but that didn't stop everyone's tongue from wagging in shock about his disreputable lifestyle with his courtesan.

Upon John's death, members of his family turn up to hear the reading of the will. Handsome Christop
Harlequin Historical
Christopher Everndon is not upset at the death of his Uncle until he learns of his inheritance. It seems the old man left him his "ward" Sylvia. What kind of man has his mistress set up as his ward. Disgusting. He can't wait to see the last of her. However, there is something rather vulnerable about her and he can't quite leave her in the dust like he thought he would. Sylvia on the other hand can't believe her friend and protector has put her in such a dreadful situation.

It was fun reading how
Eveline was better than this book.

It was a good read

If you still you are looking for a book this one definitely delivered on the romance and gallantry. Sylvia and Christopher have great chemistry.
Ok story line and I always love a strong masculine lead that is gentle or in some cases in this book so overwhelmed by feelings (even if its lust) that he acts like a teenager and does and says the wrong stuff.

I do agree strongly with many of the other readers if the two mains simply had discussed their feelings and plans with each other they would have wasted a lot less time.
3.5 stars. The ending was a little too pat, and I never understood why Sylvia never just told Christopher he was wrong about her. Pride is the downfall of all heroes and heroines. However, a different take on the usual historical, and that's one of the reasons I enjoy HHs so much.
Bah...

I really love this book! You don`t know exactly how the story will unfold until the very end. Beautiful!
Very exciting until the end.
