Kathy's Review:

I began reading this in a complete shroud of confusion. Nixie's father is dying, he tells her "go on, take the money and run" (hoo hoo hoo! TM Steve Miller Band) but ... why? Then there's these gangster types - or are they cops? I don't know. The author is being deliberately mysterious, I'm sure, but I don't even have the remotest of clues what is happening. Even a quarter of the way in, I was still floundering to understand the action. I think I'm in for a kind of fugitive-on-the...more

I have to say that I thought this story was very beautiful and unique. The main characters are Nixie, Kolya, her boyfriend/lover & Morten whom she is pretty much forced to marry due to an inheritance she will receive from her father.

While the characters seem very grown up, they are young and foolish. Nixie decides she can not wait for her inheritance and so the way around it is to have an “older” guardian, well marriage to Morten fixes that.

However, she refuses to let go of Koyla and goes ba...more

Nixie Veidt is a ballet dancer that loves her dying father to her very last breathe. Nixie and her mother Maria don't get along very well. Nixie's father's last wish is for Nixie to leave her home and don't look back because her mother is out to control Nixie's inheritance. Nixie and her boyfriend Koyla dream and talk about running their own ballet company called Ballet Russes. Nixie tries following her father's last instructions to the letter. Detective Morten Kaas is working an undercover oper...more

Power, greed, and lust are all major themes consistant throughout this story as it emerses you into the world of ballet. Not the tutus, prima ballerinas, and serene choreography aspect, but the competition, financing, and grueling rehearsals it takes to create a successful dance company during the crash of the European stock market.

Characters

Nixie infuriated me. She purposefully makes herself subserviant to men i.e. Kolya. She calls herself his "servant" and from beginning to end she continues t...more

RATE: 3.5/5

First of all, this is the first review request that I got, 2 days after I made my blog! I was really happy that an author contacted me as I had NO idea about blog tours, review requests, and all that shananigins book bloggers do. Because of Kea Noli and her book Pearl Lover, I have decided to take book blogging seriously and boy it’s fun! If she hadn’t contacted me, I would’ve probably just stayed on Goodreads and do my reviews there. So...more

For an exclusive excerpt from Pearl Lover, go to my site.

Featuring a dash of classical ballet dancers, a hint of a sting operation, and a medley of point of views, this novel will have you marveling at all that one string of pearls can represent.

I found Pearl Lover to be a tad confusing at the beginning, so I’ll give you the basics:

-Nixie wants to be in full control of her inheritance.
-To do so, she must be in control of her guardian.
-If she marries someone over the age of 25, her husband will b...more

I received this book in return for a honest review from the author. The book is mainly about Nixie Veidt and her life after her father dies. As her father dies on his deathbed Nixie is directed to Conrad a business connection who will help her get the money in a safe spot before her mother can take it all and be her guardian. However it's never that simple and Nixie faces the threat of being arrested but Morten the cop provides a option of marriage that will keep the cops at bay as well as her m...more

Pearl Lover is the story of Nixie, Morten and Kolya. A love triangle set in the ballet world. It might seem like a simple love triangle but it’s deeper than that. It’s a story about acceptance, about struggle to be the owner of your destiny and about what we are willing to do for those we love.
It all start when Nixie father’s die. Her mother (Maria) wants to control her and the inheritance until she turns at least 21. Maria, a former dancer, is the typical wealthy woman, who only...more

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own, and I received no compensation for my review whatsoever.

First of all, I have to say I adore the cover; it's exactly how I would picture Nixie, the main character. This book was so different from anything I've read, and that was my favorite aspect in trying out a genre I might not otherwise have noticed. The story itself is definitely interesting, but in the beginning there wasn't...more

If someone asked you if it was possible to be in love with two people at the same time what would you say?

When I began Pearl Lover I thought I was getting a cute little love story about an Italian ballerina who fell in love with an undesirable Russian and while that is true the ending was more than I bargained for.

Kea Noli, author of Pearl Lover, had me in knots after finishing the book. I spent a good hour or so talking with my husband over the concept of being in love with two people at the sa...more
