Betsy Livingston, author of The Happy Hinter blog and column for the Pecan Bayou Gazette, has been included in an authors' presentation at the local library. She has already had a very public fracas with one of the authors, and when there is a murder at the library, Betsy is the prime suspect. It is up to her, along with her father, to clear her name.

Teresa Trent has written another wonderfully cozy mystery set in Pecan Bayou, one of those quaint small towns so popular in fiction. Betsy, a sing...more

Teresa Trent brings another cozy mystery to you featuring a small town mother who just can't seem to avoid dead bodies. Overdue for Murder is something you'll want to check out.

Betsy just wants to spend time with her son and possibly new boyfriend. While doing that, she'll write her column, do a little promotional work for her book, and stumble upon dead bodies. And who becomes the prime suspect? Betsy. Oh, and the past comes back to her present threatening to upset her life even more.

As the genre states, this is a cozy little mystery. A murder mystery with no graphic images and no foul language.

Overdue for Murder is book 2 in the Pecan Bayou Mysteries, but don't let that put you off if you haven't read book 1 as it does not deter from the enjoyment of the book as it's a new mystery.

Betsy Livingston; "Blogger" on the local newspaper in Pecan Bayou, Texas, is a single mum, who's Husband just disappeared. She was persuaded by her friend to go along to the local library and join...more

Betsy is a single mom/blogger/columnist whose public arguments with a co-worker, Vanessa, result in her being the prime suspect in Vanessa’s murder. Although there were plenty who had motive to murder Vanessa, the focus increases on Betsy. As Betsy tries to clear her name, the readers are entertained by her son and cousin with special needs who attempt to break a world record. Things get dicey when news of the man who abandoned Betsy and her son emerges. The protagonist also has some important d...more

This is what I would call a cozy mystery series. Take a small Texas town, a single mom who stumbles onto the body of an enemy, a little romance, coming to terms with your awful past, loving support from family and friends, and then the unveiling of the murder (the author leaves clues along the way for the reader-clever). Can't wait to read the next one from this author.

This is a book that I won in a Goodreads giveaway.
Overdue for Murder is the second in a projected series. Betsy Livingston lives in Pecan Bayou, Texas near San Antonio. She is a helpful hints blogger and columnist for the local weekly newspaper. Several local authors present their books at the public library. One of the writers is killed. Betsy finds the body and becomes the prime suspect because of an earlier disagreement. Betsy begins to ask questions and look for clues in order to prove her...more

This cozy is a bit too simple, causing the reader to yawn once it becomes clear who is the killer. Betsy Livingston is a typical woman with child living in a small town, she is framed for two murders and seeks to clear her name. More for the pre teens and teens to read than grown adults. will skip the rest of this series.

I've read both books in this series so far, and I am seeing a real improvement in this author. The characters are compelling and I find myself invested in how they are doing. Even better, this crime is a little more complex and fun than the first. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Trent.

Meh. Couldn't really relate to the main character ... she was terribly whiny.

This book is second in the series about Betsy. It was even better than the first one I thought. I look forward to reading more cozy mysteries from the author!
