In Les Rois Thaumaturges (1924) Bloch looked at the long-standing folk belief that the king could cure scrofula by touch. The kings of France and England indeed regularly practised the ritual.

This is a brilliant study of scrofula and the belief that the king's touch could cure it. Even more, it's a brilliant analysis of some very difficult medieval and early modern texts, using this as a way to get to both the popular mind and traditions regarding royal power.
