In 2006 a bootlenose whale swam up the Thames, right into the centre of bustling London. Sadly, the poor thing didn't get back out to sea and eventually died. But I was always intrigued by this true story - a creature from the deep in the middle of our capital city. The book is loosely based on this real-life event.
