I received my books from the Library by mail and have read this one already. It was very good, but I should have read Sudden Death first. They were out of sequence, but DR is just a good writer it did not make a difference. Again, Andy, Laurie & Tara did a great job keeping my interest. These books will never go into my not-interesting-enough-to-finish folder. I started reading Sudden Death and am enjoying this one also.

Lawyer Andy Carpenter heeds the call of his former girlfriend who has moved to Wisconsin to be the sheriff there. Laurie is calling because a local boy is accused of murder and needs a good lawyer. The premise is weak but the story is good. I like Andy and his cast of characters but I'm ready for a story line that isn't half about his on again/off again Laurie thing.

His books are terrific. I heard about him from my sister. She saw an interview with Janet Evanovich who said that she loves his books. Well, any true Jersey girl will love to read his books and the references to NJ. I also love his sense of humor and "song talking". Try it, you won't be disappointed.

This was a jocular, wiseass sort of mystery - big city lawyer comes to rural Wisconsin to defend a young man being accused of the deaths of two young women from a religious cult community. The lawyer is funny and the plot moved along quickly, but it was a bit formulaic for me.

Light, fun mystery not excellent but enjoyable mystery...what I call a "popcorn" read...not substantial or filling but fun.
