Magical, just like all off Ahern's books. She has an ability to make you see the best in other people as well as yourself, which is one of the reasons I love her books.

One hundred names was really exciting, it was difficult to put it down. There was no way of knowing how it was going to end. The book is a lot less "fantasy" than some of Ahern's other books, it's more realistic.

Kitty has to make a story, she inherits a list with 100 names but with no explanation as to what the link between the pe...more

Cecelia Ahern has always been a bit of a hit or miss author in my view, never quite achieving the heady success of her stand out P.S I Love You. With 'One Hundred Names' though she may have captured the joy of her earliest work.

Kitty is a journalist who after wrongly accusing a teacher of abuse finds herself jobless and a figure for hate and scorn. She has lost her way personally & professionally and to make it worse her mentor Constance has died of cancer. As a tribute to her friend she agr...more

I can't really remember how I got into Cecelia Ahern's books but I've read every one she's ever written. She's not my usual type of book, as you know I focus on YA edging toward paranormal and fantasy, but something about Ahern captures my heart from my mind. So when I heard another book was coming out I knew I had to request it. It took a while to come through the library as it had a waiting list on it. Then when I did get it i didn't have time to read it. Then this afternoon I decided to pick...more

Journalism is a hard career to get into and a lot can happen in the background that others aren't aware of , so who better to write a book about journalistic expectations and disasters than one of Ireland's best journalists now turned book writer Cecelia Ahern. I have read all her books but personally , Im not too sure what it is but I haven't been personally overly impressed with her last three. My all-time favourite would have to be Where Rainbows End.
In One Hundred Names , we read as Kitty a...more

I love Cecelia Ahern’s books, they always have sparkle and a hint of magic – you know it’s not real but it is written in such a way that it feels very possible. This book, however, had no magic or strange unbelievable yet believable elements; which in itself was odd. As a big fan of Ahern’s books I was expecting something more. The story is very clever, an interesting concept and very different from your usual chick lit – I wasn’t disappointed with the book just a bit . . . deflated. This is a w...more

Cecelia Ahern is that rare author that still actually believes in the goodness of people. Maybe it's her youth, maybe she's just that person, but it is so clear that she believes that people are good, that people are beautiful, and that what is most beautiful about life is the story that each of us has to share.

On the surface, you could probably write this off as a sappy chick-lit piece, but it's so much more. You could just read the book and move on, or you could stop and take notice. You might...more

I’ve been a big big fan of Cecelia Ahern since I picked up If You Could See Me Now and A Place Called Here many years ago when Cecelia wasn’t as well known as she is now. Something just drew me to the books and I’m so pleased I went with my instinct and bought them because they introduced me to magic in novels, they lifted me up and made me fall in love with books even more. I have since followed Cecelia and bought and loved every single one of her books, so when One Hundred Names was announced...more

Just like previous Cecelia Ahern books One Hundred Names was a magical story of love, friendship and normal day to day life. This wonderful novel is inspiring and beautiful it gives you a whole new perspective on life!

Kitty is a blacklisted journalist whose best friend is dying of cancer. Her best friend also happens to be her boss and the one person who still truly believes in Kitty. When Constance dies she leaves kitty with a list of 100 Names and the task of writing a story about them. Altho...more

The author apparently got the idea for this book upon seeing Jennifer Lawrence on MTV talking about her new movie One Hundred Names. Obviously she had misheard her say The Hunger Games and was so pleased when she found out because she could now steal the title for herself.

About the book though, I started off confused mainly because of the main character Kitty. I went back and forth between liking and hating her and it wasn't until I was three quarters of the way through the book that I decided I...more

Cecelia Ahern does it again. I have been a big fan of this author since I read her first book years ago. Since then, she has written many more and had films made from her stories. One Hundred Names is a typical Ahern book and by typical, I mean that it is funny, sad and heart-warming with a bit of magic thrown in.
The story follows Kitty Logan, a journalist whose name is mud, thanks to her falsely accusing an innocent man on TV. Her boss is ill with cancer and Kitty asks her what story she wante...more

Kitty is a journalist that makes the fatal mistake of not totally researching an article and the whole thing backfires on her. Facing eviction from her flat and suspension from her job she is not sure which way to turn. Her best friend and mentor is dying and has left her a list of One Hundred Names telling her it was an article she wished she had the opportunity to write . Aside from the list there is nothing to help Kitty with such a daunting task and so she begins trying to work out the conne...more

I've read a few of Cecelia Ahern's books so was looking forward to this one. It is an interesting read but takes a little while to get into as Kitty is not a very sympathetic character. At the start of the book Kitty's career is in tatters after falsely accusing an innocent man and her friend and mentor, Constance, is dying of cancer. She is desperate for a good story to revive her career and Constance offers her the one story she always wanted to write but never did. However, before Constance i...more

At her terminally ill friend's bedside, Kitty asks - what is the one story she always wanted to write? The answer lies in a file buried in Constance's office: a list of one hundred names. One Hundred Names Review on K-Books

"To seek truth is not necessarily to go on a mission all guns blazing in order to reveal a lie, neither is it to be particularly ground-breaking - it is simply to get to the heart of what is real."

There are no words to explain just how excited I was to receive an ARC of Cecelia Ahern's newest novel, One Hundred Names. Cecelia is without a doubt one of my favourite authors of all time and Cecelia is the reason I am so obsessed with books. I have been a massive...more

I'm not sure if i have to much expectancy from Ms Ahern as i have never disliked one her books. I love the magic and mystery, in fairness i have to say i have always adored every book, until this one.
Although i still think this is a brilliant book, i am left flat by it, where as usually i am left on a high and cant shut up. The story as usual os brilliantly written, but where as i can never usually guess an ending of Cecelia's books, this time i could. This is what i think has left me flat, ther...more

As I'm typing this, I'm still dizzy after jumping off from the strong-sensations roller-coaster which is the book One Hundred Names, by Cecelia Ahern. It's a positive dizziness, though- overwhelming, actually. At the end of the book, as I reached the "Behind the scenes writing One Hundred Names" pages, I realized that the story had finished and that someone has violently yanked me off this ride full of excitement.
I started reading this book, first of all because of the title, and second, well, t...more

I am a huge Cecelia Ahern fan so I could not wait to get stuck into One Hundred Names. However, it began on a disappointing note as I took an immediate dislike to the central character, Kitty, as I found her pretentious and selfish and thought I would find it very hard to warm to her. I suddenly, for the first time ever, started to question Ahern's ability to "wow" me! Worrying! As it turned out although I meet found and empathy for Kitty, I did start to warm to her for her efforts made for the...more

Have had this book lying around for a couple of weeks and finally decided to pick it up. While I had heard of the author, I haven't read any of her work before so was unsure exactly what direction the book would take. The main character is'nt that appealing at first and the corruption of her work from the influence of fame and t.v is clear. She is self-involved and doesn't immediately come across as someone who you sympathise with. However, as the book goes on and she faces her own truths throug...more

So this is the second book I've read from Cecelia Ahern, and I loved it more than "P.S. I Love You". This is definitely one of my favourite books, and now that I've finished I just want to read it all again!

As a trainee Journalist (since I'm doing a Creative Writing & Journalism course at Uni) I totally connected with Kitty. In the past year I've learned how a career can be flipped in one second because of one stupid little mistake, 'Check Your Sources over and over again' is constantly hear...more

Fairly predictable but sweet and an easy read.

I borrowed this off a friend to read, because we were having a chat about Cecelia Ahern books, and she'd just read this one. The story was a nice idea, Kitty is given a list of a hundred names, the story her recently deceased journalist mentor always wanted to write, and she has to find the story that connects all the names. However I sometimes felt it lacked depth, and although the stories of the other people were all nice, I felt that Kitty's story...more

I wanted to read this book because I have enjoyed another book by the author. But when I started to read it I found it hard to get into. As I continued to read the book I felt that each character was leaving me with questions that I feel never got answered.

As I reached the tthree-quarters mark I felt disappointed. But I carried on reading in hope that I would finally understand what the book was about and that the link between the characters would blow my mind...
I was left disappointed again......more

I loved this, sometimes I struggle with this writers' books but this time I honestly couldn't put it down. A journalist, Kitty, who has lost her way is left a list of 100 names by her dying employer, Constance, and told to write her last story. Kitty starts tracking down the people on the list, looking for the common thread between such random individuals and in doing so learns more about herself than she could have realised.
There was a concern-and intrigue-as how 100 stories could be covered i...more

As soon as I read the description of this book I was dying to read it. But by 3 or so chapters in I was dying for it to be over. I love Cecelia's books and decided to not give up and give it a chance but it was so boring! I felt that there were too many story lines that needed more to them and others that dragged on and on and were just pointless! Not a single character jumped out to me as someone I loved or hated, I wasn't rooting for anyone or feeling their emotions or caring what happened to...more

i don't want to comment much on the book but all i can say is that this book is different from cecelia's other books. the story is very unique. one thing i learned from "one hundred names" is when i made a first glance at one statement written in the book saying that, "every one has a story to tell." we might think our lives are pretty much boring and our stories have nothing special compared to others. however, cecelia had taught me that each and every single of us has our own unique and outsta...more

This was my first experience with Cecelia Ahern, who I realize is a very popular author. I've avoided reading her so far, though, because of the movie "P.S. I Love You." I realize that watching the movie is not the same as reading the book (I would be the first to admit!) but I just thought that the main character was so incredibly selfish and self-centered. I had a hazy assumption that her other written characters would be similar.

Sure enough, Kitty Logan, the heroine of "One Hundred Names," is...more

Cecelia Ahern is truly magical! She takes you through a journey of human emotions, aspirations, dreams as well as a the pain & sorrow of everyday living. Through her imagination, we get to see, experience and feel a wide array of sentiments all the while securely sitting in our worlds. You cannot keep her writing down till you've finished. There's not as much suspense and a heart-touching expression of who we all are in her characters.

I've loved this book from start to finish and it took me...more
