The world didn’t end with a bang, didn’t go out in a ball of fire and fury. Nor did it end in ice, but in some strange way, ice was the end; or maybe it was the beginning of something more.

Bethany is stunned and horrified when she finds herself suddenly alone in a world that was alive only moments before. Terrified, she flees into the streets of her town, looking for answe...more

So this book was recommended to me by one my fellow goodread users (Thanks for that Karina :) ), and I am really glad she did! It was a great suspenseful book about what would happen to the world if aliens took over and have changed the world we once knew dramatically. Everything is gone, from the internet to cars, and now even people have been frozen in place..the only ones left awake a group of teenagers who had everything taken away from them – their parents, friends – who have to grow up qui...more

So if you took out most of the story and only kept the small percentage that was about the alien invasion and what they were doing to try and survive I would have really enjoyed this book. Instead we get page after page after page of memories of the time before that the main character Bethy thinks of. That or her constantly freaking out about going into buildings or small spaces, or constantly being drawn to Cade, but then remembering after making out with him and being all he is my everything!...more

this book has so much potential to be an amazing book. it is the 2nd book I have read about aliens, and I really really love to hate this book. it has a great plot, a lot of action which had my heart racing, love interests, and the writing style was great, it started off interesting and hooked me instantly. HOWEVER the only thing that is keeping me from giving it a 5 star rating is this: for ever 10 pages of extreamly descriptive detailed about the surroundings, and her feeling, fears, thoughts,...more

When I saw that this book was free on Amazon I quickly snagged a copy after reading the synopsis and loving it! The book starts instantly and then it doesn't stop! There was action around every corner which made my heart pound and I wasn't able to stop reading! I wasn't really expecting the plot to have as much as it did in it to be honest as I honestly wasn't expecting aliens to be the threat but it was a fresh idea and I really enjoyed it! The idea of the aliens was amazing and I liked that th...more

I'm really, really trying to like this book, but I've got my eyeballs permanently rolling my eyes in to the back of my head! I just cant get past that the author made such a annoying female (Bethy) for this book. Not to say I didn't like the plot of the book I just couldn't get past that she wasn't all that likable for me. I'm all for, the love triangle thing. The way she went about it was just to ridiculous. OK and I really felt sorry for (Bret) he is sweet and a little clingy but sweet and she...more

Ravenous is the first alien story I've read aside from War of the Worlds, and it introduced the genre nicely for me. It was a great introduction to the series and had plenty of action.

The plot was fairly straightforward. Bethany runs into Cade early on and meets up with her siblings Aiden and Abby. She also eventually finds her boyfriend Bret and a girl named Jenna, and together as a group they try to find a way to escape the aliens.

The aliens themselves were extremely interesting. The way they...more

GGGGGRRRRRRR!!!!!!! If you haven't noticed, I am slightly frustrated. I hate when a book ends like this. It was a great action packed book, but it's really frustrating when the ending sucks. If you haven't read this yet you might want to avert your eyes, because I'm about to drop some spoilers. So, through the whole book the heroine is torn between two guys. I know, shocker right. Why not when your about to die from an alien invasion? Anyways, she is leaning more towards Cade, the dark, quiet, y...more

Spoilers...I went back and forth, there were things I liked about this book, though I'm not really one for reading alien books...but there were some things I liked...however, I hate books that have these damn girls that can't make up their minds and string these guys along and try to have everything under the guise of not wanting to hurt anyone when really its selfishness. I mean, I understand why Bret wasn't the guy for her, but come on...and of course I wanted her with Cade...and the things wi...more

4.5 stars

I didn't give this a 5 star review because of the grammatical errors. They were slightly distracting, but I enjoyed this read nonetheless.

Erica Stevens is an amazing writer. Her ability to tell a captivating story is pure talent.

Ravenous is an engrossing read full of action, adventure, and some steamy PG kissing.

I have already purchased book #2, Taken Over, and I can't wait to get started.

I recommend this book, and THE RAVENING SERIES.

Aliens!

It's been awhile since I have read anything with aliens, so this was interesting. Basically about a year ago aliens show up (they look like humans, but better) on Earth, bring great technological advances, feed the hungry, cure diseases, etc. Then they start taking away things. First it was weapons, then cell phones, airplanes, the internet, cars, advanced schooling...Wait a second, you mean they are not all benevolent?

It actually reminds me a lot of the TV show "V," did anyone see that?...more

I haven't really read any books like this before so I was a little hesitant in the first couple chapters but it turned out to be a great read.

It was different from other things I have read and I really enjoyed the fast pace of the story. From beginning to end, I couldn't guess anything and loved the twists.

I like the characters, I felt like they were whole, interesting and people I could care about.

There were a few times I wished things had been 'shown' rather than 'told' but I later realized I...more

I really liked this book. It was a combi of my fav things: a hot boy with a dark side, aliens, cool heroine and a world where people are taught to reach their full potential!

Bethy is a strong lead, who i liked. She did frustrate me at times, for example how she allows herself to be pushed into a relationship with Bret. Bret may love her but he's that typical friend figure who you shouldn't date.

Cade is a great hero (or anti-hero depending on your pov), he's a huge mystery who screams darkness.

If you liked that 2010 short-lived television series “V," you’ll like ravenous.

Aliens come to earth on peace terms sharing their technology and medical advances with us. People are forever grateful to them…
But then things change and Bethany, her brother, Bret (her boyfriend), and drop-dead-gorgeous Cade are running for their lives.

I was pretty much into the beginning of...more

What an exceptional book. (494) worth of eBook pages. Hands down my all time favorite book. Erica Stevens won me over with the story of Bethany, Cade and a set of humans who are not willing to give up on the fight to live. The book was nail biting through and through. I could not put the book down because I could not wait to see what would happen next. Love, Gore, and Aliens. A mix between The Walking Dead and 30 Days of Night, Just switch the Zombies for Aliens, then slap in a love story that a...more

Well... it was a very good read. It automatically jumped into the action. You were hooked untill the very last word. There is romance and heart breaking tradgedy. You fallow Betheny, her two siblings Aiden and A by, her boyfriend Bret, Jenna a girl from her school, and Cade whom Betheny loves. They travel across Cape Cod running from the envading alien race. The race is gripping and the cliff hanger leaves one needing the second book, Taken Over.

Sure it had some grammatical errors and maybe the very beginning was a little drawn out, BUT it held my attention! I even thought about it when I wasn't reading - which hasn't happened for a while. There's something about Cade that is a little off...in a good way...but I haven't quite decided what it is exactly. (Is he one of them?) Can't wait to read #2! And she better hurry with #3 so I don't have to wait!! 5 stars for story telling ability.

Wow! Science fiction and romance - great combo...
The characters are believable, the plot great, the aliens scary... And very current! A great hero with a strong heroine at his side... Sadness along the way with some confusion at to the past of one of our hero... Will he survive?
Looking forward to the next in the series.

I wasn't to sure about reading about aliens over taking the earth but this book was awesome!
There is tons of action in this story. There is also romance, but the action seems to over ride the love through most of the book.Nice twist. Can't wait to read the next one!!

So, I liked the concept of this book, but I have to be honest: I hated the main character. She was SO annoying! I felt like she just was constantly fixating on the same issues over and over and over. The story felt like it could have been shorter (or gone farther) but it didn't because we spent so much time in the main character's head. If the second book is like this, I'm not sure I can read it.

"I allowed myself to dream of the time before the aliens had come, a time when I had looked to the sky and wondered if there was anything else out there. I wished that question had never been answered"

What a crazy adventure of a story!
it intro's to all the people around our MC...being frozen. Mid step, mid word, mid - whatever they were doing.

as she stumbles around trying to understand what's going on, we are slowly told about the aliens arriving and what has happened over the last 9 months - th...more

Personally the story would of been more exciting if Bethany didn't whine so much. I felt she drug down the storyline that could of been great with a more powerful character. I know other people saw her differently than I did but its just my opinion.

This book is amazing, aliens, death and escape i could not put it down. Cade is a great character loved him all around Everyone who is into aliens and mankinds fight for life should read this book great read well written. Awesome

I liked this book. I haven't read much in the science fiction genre, but I really enjoyed this book. The characters are likable and the plot is pretty well developed. The romance story is full of good sexual tension, which I love.

I tried really hard to like this book. It took too long to get through because I'm not a fan of the plot and how it involves aliens. I'm sorry but this book was not for me and I am a fan of Erica Stevens as a writer.

So far, Erica darling, loving it. Little confusing I thought at first until I realized you might have written literally from the point of view of a young woman trying to make sense of roller coaster of severe awareness and forced to make the most crazed decisions when they didn't knew which way everyone and everything was going. If I was lucky enough to have not died from pissing myself to death in the beginning and was writing a journal of my unbelievable adventure of horror, it would most lik...more
