This was one of the best garden writing books that I've ever read! It has a conversational and passionate feel to it. S.M.R. Saia is a gardener who is in love with what she does, in love with getting her hands into her soil and feeding her family with her harvest.

I won this book in the Goodreads Giveaway! I didn't even realize until it showed up in the post office, shiny and new. I drooled over the picture of the carrots a bit before cracking open its virgin spine.
There are some people out there that have a certain charm and can keep you laughing for hours. Saia's personality comes through in her writing and her book is a joy to read. She has some great ideas that I've never heard, and some of her hardships (think Ichiban) are almost parallel to mine.

S.M.R. Saia lives, works, writes and gardens in Southern Maryland. She received her B.A. in English from the University of Maryland, and her M.A.L.A. from St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland.
