In My shoes takes us on the journey from Brenda's humble beginnings where she, her mother and her two sisters moved into a nice neighborhood and that was all that was nice about it. It was a struggle with three girls in a single parent household so many times they had to wear each others clothes and children are not so kind when they notice that the new kids are school are not only new but poor too. Needless to say school was tough for Brenda and this caused her to get into a lot of trouble. Whe ...more

Never Give Up.

Trying to fit in when school peers considered her an outsider, and confused about her mother’s tough love and reluctance to prepare her for young womanhood, shoves a young Brenda Hampton into an adult world…unprepared.
Determined, Brenda steps into a society where finding her niche in life is sidetracked by abusive love, early pregnancy, addictions, temptations and false hope sending her on a long rocky road.

Slip into Brenda’s shoes and experience the hurt, pain, and desperation alo

Bravo! 4.5 I truly enjoyed reading how this author came to be who she is. I think it's therapeutic to be able to look back and see how your past decisions shape your future. Brenda has obviously led a helluva life and didn't try to sugarcoat her relationship struggles or bad decisions. I admire her honesty especially with Dwayne. Who knows, she may save a life with her candid revelations

This has to be one of the most realistic, close to home books I have ever read! The transparency in this book is heart felt. The storyline/plot is great. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Ok where do I start? In My Shoes was so so good! It really took me back to my own experiences! Coming from a family, that was strong yet dysfunctional and the outcome was very similar. Ms Hampton has taken us on a journey of her life, her good, bad and horrible times. I understand all to well about being a young girl confussed about where I fit in! I loved this book and it will go down as one of my all time favorites!!!! Ms Hampton as got what it takes and I am a fan forever

This was a good read. It started a little low, but it was oh so worth it to have the background. Not often do fiction authors give you a peak into their personal lives. I'm sure that many teen moms of the 80s can relate to Brenda's story. I've read reviews on Brenda's books on the character Jaylin, but after reading about the REAL Jaylin I want to read more. Lol
