Your heart misleads you.

That's what my friends and family say.

But I love Noah.
And he loves me.

We met and fell in love in the sleepy farming community of Meadowview, while we rode our horses together through the grassy fields and in those moments in each other's arms.

It should be
ROSE & NOAH
forever, easy.

But it won't be.

Because he's Amish.

And I'm not.

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity
That was the problem with English girls - they did what they wanted.
But then again, maybe that was one of the things that made Rose so intriguing...and dangerous to me.

3.5 stars. I was interested in this story because I'd read a few of my mom's Amish romances in the past, and I've also watched several television documentaries and shows on the Amish. There's something about the way these hardworking, family communities live that fascinates me. I couldn't imagine living in their world, where ju...more

Imagine if Mr. Right couldn't be anymore any more right in the eyes of old fashioned values, but wrong in every sense of the word because of the world he lived in. When Rose and her family move to the quiet town of Meadowview, they are all still grieving from the death of her mother. The move was suppose to bring closure and give the kids a fresh start, nobody could have guessed the changes that would tear them apart.

Since the death, no one has made Rose feel more alive than Noah, the Amish boy...more

The Amish fascinate me. Really, they do. Their rules, their beliefs, their antifeminist ways; a lot of if it actually seems kind of ridiculous, but regardless if you consider them as a cult, or counterculture religion, I can't see anyone not being intrigued by their ways. This is a novel about love: Forbidden love. A love so authentic that I found myself at the mercy of a burning restlessness at thoughts of their relationship's imminent unraveling and collapse.

The relationship that Rose and Noah...more

Temptation by Karen Ann Hopkins is a thrilling forbidden romance. Sixteen-year old Rose and her family move to Meadowview where the local community is Amish. When she locks gazes with Noah, a young man who happens to be Amish, they both feel a magnetic attraction to each other. However, it’s not that simple.

They have to keep their blossoming relationship a secret as the situation would become dire if they were ever found out. Being together should be simple, but when you’re English and your lov...more

Forbidden Amish Lovin,

I've always been pretty intrigued by the Amish. I visit Lancaster, Pennsylvania a few times a year and their way of life has always been fascinating to me. I also love a forbidden love story, so this book was a no brainer for me. I had to read it and it did not disappoint.

Rose is a 16-year old girl who recently lost her mother, moves to the little farming town Meadowview, Ohio with her father and unruly brothers. She meets and falls in love with her Amish neighbor, 18-year...more

This is a story about two teenagers who fall in love. Nothing new in this concept. Except for the fact that Noah is an Amish boy, and Rose is a twenty first century teenage girl. How can these two people, so different from one another ever strike a stable relationship?

Is love really enough??

Honestly, for me, the biggest compliment i can give this story is related to the realistic nature of the characters, who troughout the whole story managed to behave in a sensible way...even Rose, who despite...more

My review of Temptation on my blog

I had Temptation only for 2 hours before I started reading it. The description, cover, and the premise were just screaming at me, “READ ME! This is the type of book you want to read right now!” My brain was telling me to just read this one and not wait, so I did.

I fell in love with the first 2/3rds of Temptation. I was so wrapped up in Rose and Noah’s story. I just wanted to read, read, read even though I was going on vacation the next day and had more important...more

I received an ARC from NetGalley.

I was drawn to this book because I was always fascinated by Amish culture, and the idea of a non-Amish girl and an Amish boy falling in love is absolutely amazing sounding! I love tales of forbidden romance, and Rose and Noah's relationship is truly forbidden. I initially assumed that Rose and Noah met during his Rumspringa, but that's not the case. I actually liked how Noah was completely in his community when he and Rose are together, since it added to the tens...more

I have always been a big fan of forbidden romance since that first moment I read Romeo and Juliet as a kid. There is just something compelling about watching a couple struggle to be together in spite of impossible odds. Not all of these starcrossed lovers end up with happy endings, but I do enjoy rooting for that. Never have I read a forbidden romance like this one though - typical American teenage girl meets typical...more

Cover:
I think the cover reflects the characters in the book quite well! The girl and the boy in the cover looks similar to how I imagined Rose and Noah looks like when reading the book. I like how the Australian cover is different from the US one too!

Story:

Can you resist temptation?

Before I read this book, I had no idea what Amish is. So when I found out this book is about Amish romance, I had to 'Google search' the definition...more

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received a temporary electronic file of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I absolutely adore young adult fiction and Amish fiction, and so when I saw that my two favorite genres were combined, to say I was ecstatic is an understatement.

I went into this novel with really high expectations. I love the premise, I loved the genre, and I absolutely adored the cover. I went in expecti...more

Juuuuuuuuust received an ARC! <3 No pretty cover. However, I'm interested to see how the Amish thing goes, since I've never read about it before. The extent on my knowledge is that one episode of FRIENDS when Monica tells "Monica" that she's Amish.

It seems very romancey-Romeo-ey, so hopefully the whole book isn't just weighed down by that.

DNF. Just not for me. Every second thought from both characters was about the other...it gets tiring after the first few times. I just can't find the motiva...more

Rose and her family have just transferred to Meadowview. When a flood makes their journey to their new home rather difficult, their Amish neighbors, eager to make an acquaintance out of Rose's doctor father, step in to help them. But Rose gets more than help when her eyes land on gorgeous Noah, who seems to can't leave the English girl alone either. When their secret romance turns into something more serious, Rose and Noah have to make a ch...more

Temptation, by Karen Ann Hopkins, was phenomenal! This is Harlequin at it's best! I have been reading Harlequin novels since I was a teen, and they have only gotten better with time. This is a wonderful story of forbidden love. Noah, an Amish boy, who is gorgeous, with wavy hair, and star quality, has been brought up with strict traditions and values, which are enforced in a communal enviornment. Noah meets Rose, a beautiful non-Amish girl, referred to as, "English," because anyone not Amish is...more

Did not finish.

I don't like giving bad reviews and I wanted this book to work for me, but I can't. I just can't.

The first few pages turned me off, when Rose describes herself as "slim, but curvy in all the right places" and "guys always notice me"... just... no! *cough* Mary Sue *cough*

And the way she views the Amish women I found really off-putting, I hope to God that she changed her views by the end and that her ignorance was purposeful... I also hope the author intended Noah top be just as ar...more

When her father decides to move her and her brothers out to Amish country the only good thing she has to look forward to is getting to have her horse with her ..... That is until some of the neighbors show up on the front porch .. When Rose locks eyes with Noah she knows nothing will ever be the same again only she has no idea just how difficult, complicated and painful falling in lo...more

If you think Edward is controlling and Bella is weak they look like completely self-actualized, feminist, independent, individuals compared to Noah and Rose.

Noah and Rose instantly fall in love, for no apparent reason other than that they are both hot. Their “relationship” consists of a few stolen kisses, and a couple of horse rides but he demands she becomes Amish so he can officially court and marry her ASAP or they are over. Based on the apparent 3 or 4 hours they have spent alone over a few...more

This book begins a series about a typical teenage girl named Rose who falls in love with an Amish guy. The writing really flows and Rose really draws you in as she is "everygirl" dealing with a completely bizarre situation. I don't honestly understand her attraction to Noah...she sees him as wildly attractive (he's 18 to her 15) yet at the same time she finds his restrictive lifestyle a bit appalling. As an extremely independant woman myself, I can't imagine being entranced with a man from such...more

Temptation by Karen Ann Hopkins is a thrilling forbidden romance.

Rose is 16 years old and has just moved to Meadowview where the community is Amish. Here she meets Noah and an attraction is instant. However – A love like this isn’t easy. The relationship has to remain within themselves. Being able to be together is not an easy love affair.

There romance is forbidden but filled with Temptation. A wonderfully balanced contempary romance filled with many obstacles.

The storyline is dif...more

First- let me start by saying that this is not normally my type of read. However, when you put the words together He's Amish and She's Not- you've got my attention. 16yr old Rose and her family move into a house in the country side next store to Noah and his Amish family and a forbidden love unfolds..... I loved this story_ I have to admit that this was the first book of 2012 to make me shed a tear (just one single tear though) at the last page. Temptation was a new and unique read for me~ Ther...more

I’ve always been curious about the Amish and their way of life. I envy their simplicity whilst knowing I could never really live that kind of life, especially with all those rules and restrictions! So I leapt at the chance to read newly published ‘Temptation’ a story of forbidden love between Amish boy Noah and ‘English’ girl Rose. Rose is sixteen and her mother has passed away during the last year. Alo...more

After her mother's death, Rose's family relocates to a new state so her father can take up a position in the local hospital. Their new next door neighbours are friendly and eager to help with the move, and Rose and the boy next door, Noah, find themselves falling for each other. There is only one problem: Noah is Amish and so they cannot be together.

The only reason this one isn't getting a five is due to the insta-love, but even that can be easily overlooked, given...more

So, I had high expectations of this book. I did judge the book on it's cover (which was black and white with orange autumn leaves)and from the description on the back, I thought it would be exactly the sort of book I would fall in love with. Now, the storyline was perfect. The whole concept of this book was perfect. A normal girl and an Amish guy fall in love. It's sort of a Romeo and Juliet situation because of all the sneaking around behind their parents backs that they do.

The thing that woul...more

I feel so stupid for not knowing that this was the first installment of a series.

I've never read anything about forbidden romance or even about the Amish culture. I thought of searching it in the internet but I realized it's better if I learn it through the book. So I was really excited to read this because it's my first time for two things! Though I've heard that it's insta-love, I was still game to read this because I've read some i...more

Awhile back I had read a book about forbidden Amish love that was similar to the description of this book and loved it, once I saw it on the shelves I knew that I had to get it and try it out.
Temptation is one those books that you’ll either love or hate. I completely adored this book. It was a full 5 stars for me but there were some things I didn’t particularly like.

I’ll start with the things that I loved about this book:

Rose's mother dies and her Dr. dad moves her and her two brothers to rural Ohio--right into the heart of Amish country. Their nearest neighbors, an Amish family, comes to welcome them and as soon as Rose's eyes meet Noah's, one of the sons, there is an instant--and strong--electrical connection. Their worlds aren't supposed to mix, but they form a forbidden romance anyway. I can't wait to see where this story goes from here.

Noah is such a gentleman and so intense--he has smoldering looks. :) He...more

Temptation... oh yes! That's exactly what it is! I was continually "tempted" to read it... everywhere I went I tried to sneak Temptation out just to read the next page because that is how engrossed I was in this book. It's such a sweet romance and the characters (each and every one) are amazing.

Rose is a fiesty English girl who doesn't take orders from anyone... well MAYBE her Dad and that's only sometimes. She loves to dance, listen to music, and play sports... everything that the "Amish" aren'...more

“Pressing my head to his heart, I listened hard, straining to hear any gurgle or murmur of life. Hearing nothing, I felt the shock settle into my mind, slowing it down and then turning it off.
"Don't leave me, Noah. Please, don't go," I whispered into the darkness as the light spray of rain touched my face.
If only I could turn back time.
I would tell him yes.”

“It was strange how in that moment of tragedy, it had seemed so unreal, like an old-fashioned movie reel playing on a screen for my eyes only. The pain and broken heart were blocked off for a little while, leaving me numb with disbelief. Shock is what Dad called it. But after a while, the cruel reality started to seep into my tissues, and my body became a sponge, just sucking it all up until, finally, there was so much grief inside, I couldn't help feeling it.
That's how it happened for me. First, the numbness right after she died, next the agonising pain and then the place I was at now—the land of perpetual depression.”
