When you pit knowledge against emotions, there's the no-man's land in between those two opposing forces where taboos lie. Incest is one of the untouchables, a taboo that even in alternative cultures is often still looked on negatively. But how can something that feels so right be wrong? In Fraternal Devotion, the focus is on brotherly love--in every sense of the word. Thes...more

Getting into this anthology came from the desire to enjoy my kink. Finally something for the likes of me who loves brothers getting it on and doesn’t mind large quantities of the material. The stories are quite different, ranging from two stars to almost five forming an average collection of brotherly love.

There wasn't a story here that wan't well written. I like them all but I do have my favorites.
War and Peace and Brotherhood - by D.K. Jernigan - 4 Stars - I enjoyed the paranormal world this was set in with the brothers on opposite sides of the issue. I would have loved to read this in a full length novel.
Analgesia - by Alisha Steele - 4.5 Stars - It was her except that pushed me to by the anthology. Ethan was seriously smokin'

Warning: this anthology deals with brothercest, so it's clearly a book that might make someone uncomfortable and they'd better not read it. I confess it made me uncomfortable, but what I look for in a book is the characters' emotional journey, the reasons why brothers become closer than society allows and the dynamics in their relationship. Some stories were more convincing than others.

I'm going to read and review as I go..this one is a bit outside of my comfort zone, so it might take a while.
War And Peace And Brotherhood by DK Jernigan 3*
The world this is set in is very interesting and cool. Two brothers fighting on different sides of an issue, but in the back of their mind longing and loving the other.

Fraternal Devotion is a multi-authored anthology in which all stories have the brothercest theme. I know this subgenre will not be for everyone, but since I’m a fan of reading these types of forbidden/ taboo romances (it is fiction AND romance, what’s not to love?) I was anxious to read this book, and I wasn’t disappointed in the least! Every story in the book brought something to the table. This can be rare because Anthologies can be tricky sometimes. Most of the time, the stories in a...more

This anthology was a mix of stories about the forbidden love between brothers. As with most anthologies, I enjoyed some stories more than others, but all of these stories were equally angst-ridden due to the taboo of incest.
Of these stories, the two that stood out to me the most were probably War and Peace and Brotherhood and On the Edge. War and Peace and Brotherhood was interesting because it had a cool plot. Keith is a Humanist Corpsman who fights against the spread of "infection". Infected p...more

I've been looking forward to this anthology for a while now, since I'm a fan of Brothercest and Twincest. I’m behind the curve with this anthology. It’s been out a while and well reviewed by several great reviewers but I’ll be honest I didn’t really know anything about that when I read this anthology. I happen to like the incest kick and wanted to read SMP’s take on a complicated issue. Stories in this niche tend to be angst ridden or sex filled, both of which I like, but I was hoping for something more well rounded and nuanced from Fraternal Devotion. Thankfully almost all the stories delivered thi...more
War and Peace and Brotherhood-by D.K. Jernigan-3 Stars-This was a cool short paranormal novella. One brother was turned, the other was hunting him and others like him. Interesting for sure.
Analgesia-by Alisha Steele-4.5 Stars-This was fucking hot. IMO, the hottest one in the series. No serious angst or depression. Yum

If there's one thing guaranteed to get people hot under the collar it's incest stories. There was a massive hoo ha not too long ago which meant many third party vendors withdrew many books with the theme. Of course there's a huge difference between books which deal with abusive incestuous relationships and those which deal with consensual incest and this book is very much in that latter category. Personally, stories like this are one of my kinks as long as they deal with the emotional strains an...more
This anthology was a rather terrible disappointment. My status updates communicate my thoughts on each story. In this review I'll just make a couple points.
1. I cannot believe I'm forced to say so, but I've read better bro-cest on Nifty.
2. Most of the stories featured a younger but physically bigger and more dominant brother with unmanageable feelings for his older brother. I suppose this is so as to mitigate potentially pervy, advantageous, rape-y feelings in readers but this is bro-cest. Guess...more

Because of this anthology’s content, it will obviously not be for everyone. But if you’re reading this review, then you probably are interested enough to take the risk and dive in.
These stories definitely push the brotherhood button, and several are well done, while others left me cool. Just like every anthology, the mix is all based on the authors who write for it. For readers looking for these types of stories, I think it’s worth a gander and will be satisfying.

War and Peace and Brotherhood by D.K. Jernigan: 2 stars
This story honestly wasn't bad but something was missing for me to actually like it. The characters fell flat for me and I just couldn't really feel the connection between the brothers. I think I would've much more enjoyed this story as a full length novel.
Analgesia by Alisha Steele: 2.5 stars

"War and Peace and Brotherhood" by D.K. Jernigan
Keith is a Humanist Corpsman, sworn to protect society from the mutated ranks of the Infected. When his own team betrays him, however, it's his long lost brother, Riley, who takes him in and makes him choose between the Infected and his brotherhood.

Warning - this is anthology where each story deals with incest.
The stories themselves were good. Personally I found it relatively easy to overlook the incest bit. I guess I'm not totally icked out by the whole thing as it is between 2 men, although I couldn't read anything like this between a brother/sister, child/parent etc.

For me, the standouts in this antho were Analgesia by Alisha Steele and On the Edge by SL Armstrong & K. Piet. Very well done. And, man, the tension between the brothers in Analgesia nearly set my Kindle ablaze, while On the Edge provided some rather delicious angst.
Overall, a good anthology!

Perfect review from Jenre.
Brocest is your kink? Go for it!
I liked the second story best. The "my pretty baby" had a very dirty ring to it....
From smutty, lighthearted fun to drama - this anthology has it all.

Analgesia was my absolute favorite story in the anthology, but I liked all of them. Very nicely written, nice characters, nice sex and lovely taboo romance. Yum!

Short kinky stories which deal with forbidden love between brothers. If you are a fan of this type of kink then these short stories are definitely for you. Some of them are better than others but overall I really enjoyed this book.
My personal favorite - On Clouds of Obsession!
My personal favorite - On Clouds of Obsession!
War and Peace and Brotherhood - 3 stars
Analgesia - 4 stars, maybe 4,5
Depression, Love, and Swimming Pools - 3 stars
On Clouds of Obsession - 2,5 stars, maybe 3 if I close one eye
On the Edge - 5 stars... that was completely awesome. Destructive path of one relationship. I must be sick to enjoy this so much. But the emotions were so brilliantly described, I love it.
