This is the author's debut publication, and although the idea of a prophecy is anything but original in fantasy, the combination of telepathic Gryffin, and magic-wielding shy human-like Orryn is an unusual one. I found the writing style quite uneven, but it definitely improved towards the end of the book. I'm also not an expert on English punctuation but I think that quite a lot of commas were left out (e.g. commas should surround the name or title of a directly adressed person. These are the Orryn. Then imagine another people, who live only of the meat they catch and kill themselves, who are brash and unafraid in their superiority. These are the Griffin. Imagine the complications of these two people living together, sheltered from a world of humans where an evil ...more

For me, "Prophecy" feels like a smooth beginning of a very promising series. When I had read about 80% of the novel and realised it was coming to an end, I got the feeling the story was much too short to answer all of my questions (or to fulfill my needs as a reader), but the last chapters closed the frame in a very satisfying manner - so now I'm mainly curious about what might come next!

I have to admit I usually don't read/like novels with adolescents as the main characters, but as soon as I go
