The Best Thing is aptly titled. Jaci Burton saved the best for last in this series. It's sweet and a little angsty. Since we've met and gotten to know the H/h in previous books and they have history, the story didnt feel rushed or lacking with the short page length. I especially liked the heroine, Tori. Love strong female characters. The secondary characters that we've seen before in previous books were pretty great too...especially when the hero, Brody had his head up his a**! Sad to see this ...more

The Best Thing by Jaci Burton is the 3rd book in the Kent Brothers series. I had no idea it was a part of a series or I would have read the previous 2 books first. I can promise you they will be the very next 2 books I read. If they are even half as good as this one was I will be satisfied.

Tori Lewis has always loved her job. She's not only an employee she's family. The company is owned by the 3 Kent brothers, but only one particular brother has had her attention since she was 15. Unfortunately
After the disapointment of book #1 and #2, I refused to loose my faith in Brody and Tori. So I chose to read this book. Voluntarily.

From book #1, we learned that Tori was secretly in love with her boss, Brody without him having any idea about it. For him, Tori was just one of the guys. But things escalated a bit in book #2 when he planted a wet kiss on her out of irritation (yeah, right).

The kiss that changed everything. Well, more like Tori changed. But not so much with Brody. The man was abs

Yep, that worked! I have liked all of the Kent brothers books and this was no exception! Brody was a bit of a man-whore, even his mother thought so, but he was really just waiting on the right girl. Or in this case waiting for the girl and him to be ready at the same time - they both had some growing up to do. Tori has been in love with Brody since she was a teenager, but too afraid to risk the first real family she has found in his brothers and parents, not to mention her job, to take a chance ...more

"You need to fix Tori. She's broken." This is the task Brody's brother's, Wyatt and Ethan, set before him. Since he and office manager Tori Lewis had shared a smoking hot kiss the year before at a Christmas party, everything had changed ~ what used to be fun ha/ha smart mouth had turned into straight up bitchiness towards all of them...and they were blaming HIM. And yeah, he'd known things had changed, and hadn't he tried to text, call, go by her place...but she'd just refused to talk to him? An ...more

Jaci Burton brings us The Best Thing, a return to the Kent Family and this time Bad-Boy, middle brother, Brody and Tori are hitting the sheets and maybe finally admitting the feelings they've had for each other for years. I happen to love the Kent Family and look forward to Jaci's Christmas novella every year. If you haven't caught up with the Kent Family, make sure to pick up Ethan and Wyatt's romances, All She Wants for Christmas and A Rare Gift.

This was only my seciond Jaci Burton story and the first time I met the Kent brothers. The Best Thing is the 3rd instalment in the trilogy, after Ethan and Wyatt have found love and wedded bliss this time it's Brody's turn to fall in love. The premise is that at last year's Christmas party Brody and Tori (their spitfire assistant and family friend) kissed, and after more than 10 months of Tori giving the brothers the cold shoulder they decide it's time Brody fixed the problem.

I read the first few pages of this book and then returned it to get my money back. The premise is that this couple shared a scorching hot kiss a year ago, and ever since, the heroine has been in a noticeably bad mood. FOR A YEAR?!? Ridiculous. I'm not interested in immature characters whose odd behavior I'm supposed to find quirky and fun.
Tori has had feelings for Brody since she first started working for the construction company he runs with his brothers but with no family of her own the Kent's quickly became important to her and she would never do anything to risk her relationship with Brody and his family. Brody has never been the type of guy to settle down though so as much as she loves him Tori knows that if anything happened between them she would end up broken hearted and alone again and that isn't something she is prepare ...more

I really liked this book (solid 4 star read) until the end and the resolution of the conflict.

I liked the setup- the "been dancing around each other for years" trope usually really works for me, and this was no different. I thought they were cute and hot together, and I thought their hesitations and issues were believable (though I still don't entirely understand why Brody- who claims he's always found Tori attractive, and has apparently slept with everyone else in town- seemed to have never ma

Brody is the middle child in between oldest Wyatt and youngest Ethan and also the last one single. Last year he kissed their office manager and family friend at the company Christmas party and he can't think of anything else but her. He's known as a man whore, love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy and that doesn't set well when Tori throws that up in his face.

Tori has been in love with Brody since she was fifteen years old. Something's changed since that kiss and she can't decide if its for the be

If you don’t expect different or unusual, this will satisfy. It’s contemporary romance feel good.

He and she work for the same company and are attracted to each other. She is reluctant to date him for a couple of reasons. The plot and dialogue are typical for this genre. But it’s enjoyable. It’s fun. And it provides some feel good emotions It’s about a third the length of a regular novel. I wasn’t insulted with anything. There is the formulaic fight/separation. Cute and sexy H/h made this a fun read. Some clichés here and there - eavesdropping never leads to something good, ha! - but Jaci Burton's writing sold them to me.

The best thing about The Best Thing by Jaci Burton is that you won't be surprised. I'm giving this novella 3 stars because it's a solid, middle of the road story. There's nothing terribly wrong with it.... but there's nothing terribly awesome about it either. It looks like The Best Thing is an ebook around 99 pages on its own but can also be found in Romancing the Holiday.

Right off the bat, I didn't like the female ch
Listened to on audio. Narrated by Jillian Powers.

This is the single most irritating narration I have ever heard. Really badly overdone. All conversations with women are done in really annoying sing song voices. Why? Nobody talks like this. It's like watching Sesame Street.

She's all over the place with which word to stress in a sentence. If it wasn't a short story I'd have had to switch the thing off, because any more of this awful audio and I'd have needed to launch my iphone out the window.

ROUNDING UP TO 3.5 RATING- Overall, a short cute read.

This third book in the series is a very classic contemporary romance, with nothing really new in the plot, nor in the characters. However it was nicely and convincingly written and I really enjoyed the time spent on reading it. Like for the first book in the series, the short format (around 100 pages) fit well with the story, nothing felt rushed, not much was overdone, except maybe Tori's doubts about Brody which were repeated one time too many, with almost exactly the same words.

Another wonderful Kent family read.
Tori has had the hots for Brody since 15. Now at 26 she all but given up on him and his manwhoring ways. She thinks after the kiss that his eyes will be opened and he will finally see what's right there, when this doesn't happen something breaks in her. I really enjoyed her witty come backs and put downs from the first 2 books so it was kindof of bummer when those go missing when she breaks. Now it is up to Brody to fix her, which he sets out to do. The Best Thing is the third book in Jaci Burton's Kent Brothers series. I liked both Brody and Tori. Tori has no one else in the world but the Kent family, so it’s easy to understand why she’s so afraid to lose them and her job at Kent Construction if she becomes involved with Brody. I liked how patient Brody was. I liked that he was determined to talk about the kiss they’d shared the prior Christmas even more. He definitely came across as confident and sexy. It was easy to understand that he wa ...more

Do you know what is worse than a cosy Christmas romance novel? A cosy Christmas romance novella. Romance books tend to be bad at character development. They are pretty good at creating characters you like by telling you over and over what their good qualities are, and not by showing you. And part of the fun of watching the relationship develop in romance novels is the banter, the tension, and the dialogue of uncertain desire. But if you cut out 2/3 of the novel, you are left with even less chara ...more

Tori has had a huge crush on Brody for years, but his womanizing ways always kept her back.

When Brody suddenly kisses her in the middle of an argument she panics, fearing that she'll lose her job and the family she's come to love when he moves on as he always does, and starts avoiding him for months, before he finally corners her to resolve their issues.

Brody is shocked when he learns what people think of him and realizes

2.5 stars -- definitely my least favourite of the 3 novellas of the Kent Brothers. It felt like it jumped into the story real quick, and I was left feeling a bit of disbelief at the characters -- they really went 10 months with a mean Tori?? It took them that long to say "enough is enough"?? So it started me off on the wrong foot. Then I wasn't really impressed with Tori herself, and her reasoning for behaving the way she was with everyone else. Brody I get, but what did everyone else do to dese ...more

A chier!!!!

I really enjoyed all three of the Kent Brothers books. They were short and sweet and fun and sappy and I smiled a lot.

When thinking about the entire series, I admired the way Burton worked around people getting all bent about "instalove". These are novellas, they had to fall pretty fast, and making them all have history was genius. I liked that each book was separated by 1 year, as they all took place at Christmastime. This gave the past relationships time to grow, and treated the reader with a
