I have a bad feeling about that ending... I mean, there's a murderer out there, and she leaves the safety of the pack... c'mon girl, you could've pretended to like the pack!

This didn't feel like another BOOK to me.... it just felt like an 'in-between' chapter... nothing interesting goes on.

I liked it and can't wait to see what is to come, but I wish Kat would have stuck up for herself more. Hopeful she will not die by the hellhound (sorry spoiler), but I think she needed to use her secret weapon better than she did. I do love not really knowing where this story will go next that is what made this a wonderful 2nd book. Thanks for the series, keep it up!

I liked the characters even less in this book than I did in the last one (other than her grandfather- he's pretty awesome). I am reading the series for the thrill, though, not the characterization, so that's alright.

I thought that in this book the love triangle would be resolved, well 'love' isn't the right term...more whole will Kat stay be with.
I keep wanting to like Justin, but the whole wolf and Lucy thing kept getting in the way.
But I still don't like Trick, there's something off and fishy about him? In the end off the book I really thought Kat would just end up and obey Justin or become his mate/girlfriend, but instead she just ran. That's we're the cliff hanger left us...

If I thought my memory was poor from Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie's Crusade trilogy, it was really poor with the Wolf Springs Chronicles! I had some recollections but not a whole lot. But once again, once I started reading the story, little details came back and Hot Blooded soon became a very enjoyable read!

I had some recollections but not a whole lot. But once again, once I started reading the story, little details came back and Hot Blooded soon became a very enjoyable read!

There's still a lot of weird stuff going around Wolf Springs, two young girls were killed and Cordelia is "missing", adding more worry to the town. Although, Cordelia has been banished from the town by her own family. And still, the body count continues to rise.

Katelyn is struggling to adapt to her new life as a werewolf and continue to keep it a secret from her grandfather and Trick. It's hard going, since she has to spend a lot of time with Justin, who is training her in the ways of being a werewolf, getting used to her new abilities and all that. Which brings us back into the love triangle territory, although you would think there wouldn't be much of one since Justin has a girlfriend, but there you go. Trick is so sweet though, I definitely like him better than Justin. The way I look at things, Kat is attracted to Trick and wants to be with him, and yet it seems like her wolf is attracted to Justin and wants to be with him. The two parts of herself are warring with one another and it is likely that someone is going to get hurt.

What's so different about reading this series is that compared to the other series these authors have co-written together, this one is all from Kat's point of view in the third person. Which can be a mixed blessing, since there's not a lot of stuff happening with a lot of people, but still a lot goes on in this 400+ page book!

As I mentioned earlier, there are still murders and disappearances going on in Wolf Springs and there's no culprit to be found, but it is likely a wolf doing the killings since the bodies have been mauled. And then there's the mystery behind the wolf who bit Katelyn, could it be the mysterious Hellhound that guards the lost silver mine? So many questions and mysteries and still there are no answers.

You might be wondering what does this novel focus on if there are still so many unanswered questions. Well, besides going deeper into those mysteries and Katelyn learning about how to be a werewolf and pack hierarchy and all that jazz, there's also friction between another pack and the Fenner pack that involves Cordelia. I don't want to get into too many details for spoiler reasons, but this was a pretty good read.

At times the pacing got a little slow as Katelyn did some mundane teenager things or was just training, but Nancy and Debbie are definitely building up the tension and the mystery while the mundane happens. Assuming this is another trilogy, I cannot wait to see how things get resolved in the next one. I've been making some speculations about this or that and I really want to see if I am right or close to it!

As for romance, this book has quite a bit. There's the not quite romance but budding romance that builds between Trick and Kat coupled with the fiery passion that blooms between Katelyn and Justin. Although, I again don't really care for the Justin and Katelyn angle, I guess because Justin has a girlfriend--a fact that does come up between them, they just choose to ignore it. I don't like cheaters and to me Justin is cheating with the few kisses exchanged and Katelyn is no better since it takes two to cheat. But again, I really think it's more of their wolf sides that are attracted and connected to one another. I don't see the same heat and passion as their human selves that Katelyn and Trick seem to share.

The ending was really good! It was nice big action-y scene that ends with shocking results. And the final ending, uh...not cool! Cliffhanger!! It took too long for release info on this book to come out, I fear the length of time I'll have to wait for the next book!

Despite a few issues with the pacing, this was still an incredible read! Katelyn is a pretty enjoyable character and I adore Trick! Hoping that they get a HEA ending together by the end, sorry Justin! If you're looking for a paranormal YA series with mystery than this is one series you might want to check out because there is a lot of mystery and secrets in this book!

I liked book 1 (Unleashed) it wasn’t a page turner were book like Raised by Wolves but it was an easy enough read. Holder and Viguie had gone back to a classic type were story, and it was fun.

I was looking forward to book 2, there was plenty of story to build on and to take the next level, but I was disappointed. Which I hate.

Hot Blooded follows Katelyn’s transition into werewolf, and into the Fenner pack. Cordelia has been shunned, and its all Kat’s fault. Add to that Lee Fenner’s mental deterioration, her immunity to silver (which only Justin knows about) and her attraction to both Justin and Trick and she’s in a heap of trouble. Kat believes the only way to get Cordelia back is to find the mine (and the hellhound she insists exists), but she has to do so whilst keeping her identity a secret from her grandfather, Trick and the town. Additionally the Fenner’s insist she is trained, and brought into the were world, where things work very differently. Secrets are uncovered, loyalty tested and time is running out.....

It all sounds great, but its not. Kat is meant to be finding the mine to save Cordelia but she does bugger all about finding it. She occasionally looks in a book, or has a sniff around but thats it. More time is spent on Kat, the term ‘me, myself and I’ suits her, she's unlikeable, selfish and brattish. Trick or Justin. Justin or Trick. and round again. What happened to the strong, feisty Katelyn from book 1?

Then there’s the wolf pack. The whole issue about dominance which instantly puts my back up. We know I love wolves, and I study them a lot, and its apparent that neither author bothered to research their pack structure, dominance relations or communication methods, the Fenner’s are nothing like a wolf pack. I could go on and on about it, but all the book has done is anger me, Holder and Viguie have just reinforced the stereotype that wolves are driven by aggression and dominance, and violence (lets not talk about the pack murder in this book, it makes me seethe). The writers attitudes towards animals are obvious from the line about the gator’s eyes showing no intelligence, just intent (or something along that line), what a presumption to make, and once again reinforcing a stereotype of an animal that really could do without the bad press.

The book took me an awful long time to get through. It wasn’t entertaining, it was slow to build up, and nothing really happened, there was a bit of a ending/climax but it was something I’d of expected in the middle of a book. I am seriously disappointed, Holder in particular was always a favorite of mine, and this time she’s let me down. I gave the book 3 stars, but writing this review I’m going for 2. I cannot think of anything good to say about it. Book 3 is off my list I’m afraid. (less)

The whole background of the wolves was interesting and quite orgional but still keeping in tune with a lot of wolf legends, i liked the idea of packs having different beliefs, a very human thing. Also the whole hellhound and silver mine part was something im glad Kat explored. I am really wondering who the hell this hellhound is, can it even turn into human form like normal werewolves, and what exactly is Kat. Considering Kat can pretty much almost change at will and is impervious to silver she obviously isn't a normal werewolf either. Kat went through a lot of moral dillema's in this book, she was practically almost forced to kill more than twice. Then when Kat found silver bullets in her grndfathers garage things got even more intense.

Kat was struggling to hold on to what was right and wrong, also we found that Kat's father had been bitten by a 'wolf' and then shot with a silver bullet a year later. I think Trick has more to do with the story than is being let on, the way Kat keeps taking about that bit of blue in his eyes bothers me, i don't know what to think about him, he's still so mysterious.

Speaking of Trick, the "love" triangle really heats up in this one. Kat and Trick have quite a few really amazing moments in this book that make you feel so sorry for them because they cant be together. I'm still wary of Trick because he is very mysterious, am i the only one wondering WHY Mike hated him (note i said hated not hates as Mike dies in this one, cue shocked face). And what about that girl, Becky, who was brutally killed, the one people say he led on, from what i've read Trick seems a little dangerous and reckless but i think he's a good person at heart. Trick really does seem to love Kat, and i think Kat loves him back (well they did finally admit they love eachother and all that romantic can't live without you stuff) which i secretly love im almost ashamed to say ;). Then there's Justin, we all know Justin is the the gorgeous biker werewolf that sets her blood on fire, but they also have a growing friendship, although at the moment i think it's true what Kat says, that her and Justin aren't in love the way she is with Trick.

But only time, and by that i mean another book, will tell what is going to happen. In my opinion though Trick is the mysterious, impulsive and 'in love' one and Justin is the dangerous, desired and protective one.It could end up going either way in this love triangle which i like as its boring to read about a love triangle where you KNOW which one she will end up with.

So anyway, all in all Hot blooded was actually pretty brilliant and i cant wait for the third book to come out. xxx (less)

Katelyn was adjusting to her new life as a werewolf and all the changes that went with it, she was confused by her feelings for Trick and Justin and I have to admit that I really loved this side of the story. It was a classic love triangle – Katelyn and Trick seemed natural around each other and he had the whole cheeky boy-next-door thing going on, but Katelyn and Justin were electric together and the sparks between them practically jumped out of the page at me. This was very exciting to read and I found myself switching opinions on who she should choose throughout the entire book!

Another thing I really liked was that I could never predict what was coming next – it kept me on my toes throughout and I felt like I was constantly searching for clues to find answers to the many questions I had in my mind. The darkness and danger from the first book continued into this one with the murder count rising and no-one actually knowing who, or what, was responsible.

There was much more about the history of the werewolves in this story and I found this particularly interesting as I attempted to fit the mysterious pieces of the puzzle together.

The storyline was intense and exciting, the intensity built throughout until it reached the final showdown and this resulted in yet another cliffhanger ending. I just didn’t want it to end and I’m so sad that I have to wait until next year to find out what happens.

This was a fantastic book which I ended up reading in just one day because it was utterly unputdownable and addictive.(less)

Okay honestly, I understand why Kat doesn't like the pack - they are crazy! - but seriously I can't help but think how selfish she is sometimes. And how she deals with all the information and her "double life" is basically that she doesn't deal with it, she just sweeps it all under the rug and then she's surprised that it blows up in her face.

However, Kat is infuriating 85% of the time this book is ah-mazing! I can't believe that I have to wait until Fall, possibly DECEMBER to read the next boo...more

Oh my wolves!! I have been waiting to read this for so long, since I got an advance copy for the first one. It definitely did not disappoint. I started it this morning on my way to school at 6 in the morning, and thankfully I got an early dismissal, so I finished it at 7ish. It left me with one of the biggest cliff hangers I have ever encountered, and trust me I have encountered many,now I am dieing for the third book. Hot blooded, I gave 4.5 star. I dearly wished that I gave it 5 but it just lacked of 'something' that made you want to either put the book down or read it over a couple of times. I chose the latter.
There was no improvement in trying to find out who bite Katelyn nor where they even a step closer to finding the mine. BUT even though these distinguishes have been discovered, the lack of the above was replaced with a TWIST which I did enjoy!!!!!

I can honestly say, hand on my heart that this was a better than the first book.. We found out more of the Fenner's clan and at the end seen a side of Mr Lee Fenner which I thought I'd never see, ever! He may have been like that just because of the new discovery, that Katelyn was immune to sliver. Which can be a fatal death for ANY werewolf. Or maybe it's just sheer luck that he's finally seeing the side of Katelyn that was always masked by the whole 'her being the lowest rank than them all'!
I'd leave that job to my imagination to fill in the missing gaps!!!

Moving on to the twist of the threesome loving!! Human Katelyn loves Trick - her first friend when she moved in to Wolf Spring and hated by a lot of kids but loved by her Grandpa 'Mordecai McBride'- HOWEVER Werewolf instincts of Katelyn loves Justin, wants Justin and wants to be with Justin. Justin a younger brother to Jesse, cousin to 'her' (Cordelia shhh), son of two dead parents and mated with Lucy! Quite a lot of roles there ay. But he's also drawn to Katelyn himself. This is somewhat a double life that Katelyn has to live alongside the fact that now she has to mated to another werewolf by Mr Lee Fenners choice!

This book has taken a lot of turns that i really enjoyed reading and actually looked forward to. Mainly the fact that Justin had to train Katelyn himself, which helps you to realise that he has also lost a lot and wants a change with who runs the pack and who becomes the new Alpha. lots of secrets revealed which will leave you wanting more!

I could go on and on about Justin and Katelyn, mainly because I want them to actually get together. Trick is a nice guy, he's always been there for her but there are times where he just pushes her away for no damn reason (book1) which I find really annoying. He's secretive but not that luring in as Justin is, with he Ohh sooo sexy motorbike. Come on who doesnt like a guy with a motorbike! Therefore I stick to Justin and Katelyn. Hopefully sooner or later they will meet, but just like they are waiting to finally see and feel the real spark which i can see, then so can I!

Ends with some really sad parts, deaths of may from the Fenner Clan. (not going to say who! I really want to but no) the ending really will get to you. Full of mixed emotions which will tear at you until the last part is read. You will be wanting more. Becauseeee of the cliffhanger!! Omg two cliffhangers in one row I guess the anticipation of waiting is going to drive me crazy *faints* but it will lure you in and make you count the days down till the release of book #3.

Over all this book was amazing with the fact that she's finally mingling with her grandpa and they're actually getting closer but secrets will always be the centre of the thing keeping them apart. Silver bullets, thats right! In the garage of the secluded house of Mordecai McBride. Family secrets come to end of being a secrets, the knowledge of the existence of werewolfs is strong in the McBride family. Read it to see how and why!!

Honestly the best read since this year has started. Great start to the year. Great cover. Lets rephrase that 'AWESOME COVER' showing exactly the difference of what might happen. Purity of being a human in book one cover, but bounded too darkness with the inflicted fatal bite turning to a werewolf in book two!

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome! This book is a great read. If you haven't read either of the books in The Wolf Spring Chronicle, why wait, read it now. I recommend this book to all you book lovers!!(less)

Though the first novel, Unleashed, wasn’t an exact thriller, the cliffhanger had me dying for the next novel. So when I heard it was released on Amazon.co.uk I just had to buy it. Fortunately, my impatience was well rewarded because I found Hot Blooded far much better than Unleashed. It moved quickly and each chapter ended with me wanting more.

Then there's Justin, we all know Justin is the the gorgeous biker werewolf that sets her blood on fire, but they also have a growing friendship, although at the moment i think it's true what Kat says, that her and Justin aren't in love the way she is with Trick.

But only time, and by that i mean another book, will tell what is going to happen. In my opinion though Trick is the mysterious, impulsive and 'in love' one and Justin is the dangerous, desired and protective one.It could end up going either way in this love triangle which i like as its boring to read about a love triangle where you KNOW which one she will end up with.

So anyway, all in all Hot blooded was actually pretty brilliant and i cant wait for the third book to come out. xxx(less)

BEST BOOK EVER...I love it... The first one was amazing as well and can't wait for the next book... It only took me two days to read this one it is that good. I'm kind of scared in a way for kat but she will be fine, right? Oh can't wait to see the movie either but by the looks of the trailer... Not sure. The people acting in the movie don't suit the characters in the book to be honest, but who knows it could change I mean it's just the trailer. But best book ever

I've been waiting for this book for a whole year and let's just say that I was not disappointed!! I read it in a matter of hours rather than days. I really don't mind who Katelyn ends up with. At some points I want it to be Trick because he still likes her even though she pushes him away and gives him mixed signals, and at other times Justin as he has tried to help Katelyn through her "issues". This book is as good as (if not better than) unleashed, and I cannot wait for the next instalment -if...more

Love this series by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie. Fast-paced paranormal tale that continues right where UNLEASHED ended. The love triangle between Kat, Justin, and Trick is sizzling hot. Kat learns that not everyone is without their secrets including her own family. Twists and turns with shocking revelations! Cliffhanging ending makes me howl wanting more!

Amazing book but now I have to wait for the 3rd and final book.This book is more elaborate than the first it has more details and much more suspense in it.I enjoy this trilogy slot it has just the right amount of a love story(triangle)in it and the main character discovers more about herself and her family.Also she has no fear and she is so smart so this is a very good but long trilogy.But... you just want more when it's over.

Still can't get the image of a naked Lee Fenner out of my mind- my fault, not the author's. What is Trick? What is the hellhound? What does grandpa know? This author leaves the reader in pain and suffering at the end of a book, asking lots of questions...

Another great read. I love, love, love Trick. Love him. I really hope he's in the next book more. Lots of interesting developments plot wise. We still didn't learn who was responsible for biting Kat, although there is more insight into the Fenner wolf clan. I like Justin, I do, but he can't compete with Trick. A great read.

I really enjoyed this instalment in the Wolf Springs Chronicles. Such plot development, such world-building! I really like it when the main character has dreams and aspirations too, as not many have them these days. It's quite refreshing to read a novel like that. I wonder if there's going to be another one... let's hope so, this series has so much potential and so many unsolved mysteries. I'm loving the intrigue.

it was a bit of a let down compared to the first one, good but no as good as it couldve been. There should have been more justin and katelyn scenes!!!! I will cry if she ends up with trick and not justin. trick is a bit weird :/

Shelves: favourties

Okay so, I started this book 2 days ago.
And, I literally have to pull myself away from it to be able to focus on school work!
I can't even sleep half the time because I have to know what happens next.

Katelyn is ferocious, and her character has really developed.
Everything about the book keeps me hooked.

I've been trying to spread out my reading and not devouring it in one sitting... because i don't want it to end!
GAH!
