No Hero is my first book by Mallory Kane, and I have to say I absolutely loved it. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and caused me to loose a bit of sleep.
Dev Gautier is working a case that is literally ripping the heart from his chest. Some one is killing the boys from the center he runs for homeless boys, and he will do what ever it takes to solve this case even work with the one woman that tried to ruin his life and career.

Ms. Kane wastes no time getting into the story: A kid, who was apparently meeting someone, is murdered on an abandoned wharf in New Orleans. His throat slit, he staggers backward and falls into the Mississippi.
It's 4:30am and Reghan Connor is on the phone with a source. Another boy found with his throat slit? Another kid from the Thibaud Johnson Center for Homeless Teens murdered?
Shocked awake by the news, her first thought? "She knew who the killer was. " Followed closely by the fear that she c...more

What do you do when you have information on the death's of 2 teenagers that could be vital to the investigation but the person that you need to give that information to is someone you personally attacked on your talk show outing his former life and your pretty sure he hates you.

Ok, let me say, that for the first time EVER, I guessed the bad guy and I was RIGHT!!! Hehehehe this never happens! Seriously! Also, I know I usually am all about everything fantasy, but being a Louisiana native, and a frequent NOLA visitor- yes we call New Orleans NOLA- I couldn’t help myself. Now, here’s my question for you… What if two people loved each other, and one of them COMPLETELY DESTROYED the other’s entire life? Yeah, that’s this story. Romance wise anyway. The mystery part of the pl...more
This is the first book I've read that's by Mallory Kane so I started reading it with no huge expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
No Hero is a pretty standard mystery-romance novel. There's a serial killer on the loose that forces Reaghan Conner, a journalist with WACT and Detective Gautier, a cop - two people who pretty much hate each other's guts - work together. The reason for their hostility is because they have a past :
'From her point of view, she’d done a news story, telling...more

From the first page until the last No Hero provided me with the taut suspense that I love in a romantic suspense book. The emphasis in this book is on the suspense, but don't let that fool you, there is definitely heat between Reghan and Dev and you feel it page after page. But what I felt most was the driving need to find out who the bad guy was and how the book would turn out. That is what kept me turning the pages.

3.5 stars (<- Is this self-imposed, not GR official 1/2 star rating system a cop-out?...I'm finding that many of the books I'm reading deserve to have that 1/2 star added or subtracted from it. ha! ok, sticking with it...)
Compared to most books in the Romance / Suspense genre, this one is pretty evenly split 50/50 in the time it spends detailing both the relationship and playing out the plot. I enjoyed that. The storyline was interesting (though, slightly obvious) and I enjoyed the easy read....more

Now this was one hell of a good book. The synopsis implies that investigative reporter Reghan Connor and Detective Dev Gautier had a past love affair, the furthest it got before Reghan damn near wrecked his career and ruined his life, was a date and one hot ass kiss. Which made it better for me, I really didn't want the heroine to be some dirty skank that slept with him in then really screwed him. They are thrown together when Reghan has some info and insight as to why and what is going on with...more
This was a pretty good book. I wasn't expecting much since I'd never heard of this author but I'm pleasantly surprised and I will be reading more from this one. This story has all of the things you look for when reading a romantic suspense, action, danger, and little bit of sexual tension and a whole lot of sexual attraction! The story line was well thought out and very well written, quite enjoyable actually.

The Dead Sexy Imprint by Entangled is an assortment of books from the great Authors of Entangled that are packed with mystery, romance and suspense and mind blowing writing. I had the pleasure of reading No Hero by Mallory Kane and I have never read a book like this. It had so many things going on that I could not put it down. I kept reading early into the morning because I had to find out what happened to boys.

This is the first book that I have read by Mallory Kane and I can say with absolute certainty that it won't be my last.
I really liked how easy the story flowed. The character building was down so nicely. We didn't get a ton of information spilled onto us all at once, instead is flowed when necessary throughout the story and I really enjoyed that. Sometimes authors make a habit of dumping all the characters info on you at once and information can be lost and it can make the story lag a little. Th...more

RATING : 4.75 UBER SMEXI DEV STARS!
Reghan Connor, reporter, and a thorn in Detective Gautier Devereux’s side. What Reghan did to Dev, was devastating, and humiliating. Did she have any of her I’s dotted, her T’s crossed, before she slung the mud?
With her own tv programme titled, ‘The Real Story’, well, she didn’t have it on Dev. She does redeem herself in my eyes and Dev’s as the story unfolds, but still, tough blow, low blow.
The setting, New Orleans, Louisiana, hot and sweltering, a bit like...more

Reghan Connor knows that there are no heroes. Her father left her when she was little and the man she thought she would share her live with confessed that he wasn’t leaving the wife Reghan knew nothing about.
There are no heroes, she wanted to tell her friend. Heroes and knights in shining armor were for kids’ fairy tales. In real life, people never lived up to expectations. That’s why they called it real life.

Dev is a very endearing hero (he is a hero in spite of his denials), in fact it's almost unbelievable that it takes so long for the heroine, Reghan to realize how wrong she's been and her backstory doesn't quite make up for her blindess and her flaw journalism. Nevertheless, she figures it out, and they work together well to figure out who's the serial killer and the movtive. No real surprises, but I have read a lot of Ms. Kane's books and really like her style, plots and characters.
Fast moving, gritty and convincing. Dev (hero) is a man of contrasts and Reghan is sufficiently strong to counterbalance his power. As characters go these two rock. And the story itself? Let's just say you may be inclined to sleep with one eye open. Scary stuff. Fab read, you know you're fully engaged with the characters when you start rooting for the victims even although they are dead.

Mallory Kane has always loved reading and writing stories. She credits her love of books to her mother, a librarian, who taught her that books are a precious resource and should be treated with loving respect. Her father and grandfather were steeped in the southern tradition of oral history, and could hold an audience spellbound for hours with their storytelling skills. She aspires to be as good a...more
