I have to say that lately I have been reading more and more rock stories and every time I read one I am just blown away by the story and the groupies and all the crazy stuff that comes with being a part of that scene. I have to say that lately I have been reading more and more rock stories and every time I read one I am just blown away by the story and the groupies and all the crazy stuff that comes with being a part of that scene. Being a rock star and part of their lives is like living in another world. There are so many things that dictate everyday things and the places you can go and the people you should let get close to you that it amazes me how some of these rock stars do it.

Allison is a 24 year old college student just trying to get her degree when tragedy strikes her. She loses her mother in a tragic accident and is left to care for her sister and her niece and her grandmother who is disabled. If the tragedy won't break her then maybe this will. Not to mention that she is in a serious relationship with her boyfriend when he decides he wants a break and breaks if of with her. Allison swears she will not date or get into a serious relationship again. To her the hurt and pain is just not worth it.But as we read we see that Allison is a fighter and I love main characters who will fight and not just lay down and give up. She knows what she wants in life and she is not going to let anyone steal that from her. She will rise above this tragedy and make something for her and her family. So when the opportunity comes up for Allison to tutor some students who are on this reality TV show she jumps at the chance. It is there that she meets the sexy rocker Chris.

Now remember what I said Allison does not do relationships anymore. She has had her heart stomped on and she refuses to go through that hurt again. But Chris likes her and he will stop at nothing to prove that his feelings are real. But Allison is not having it. She knows shes attracted to him but is she willing to open her heart up again and especially to an up and coming rock star. Will his fame come in the way of their relationship? Will he hurt her like her ex did? Is it worth it to open up again? So many things are crossing her mind and she must choose in the end will it all be worth it at a chance of true love or is this just another heart break......(less)

Allison’s male friend Jake, her closest friend on the Superstardom set unintentionally blocks the potential romance, Chris believed they were dating. Once it has been made clear Allison also feels for Chris the two move forward with their romance, stalked by paparazzi and jealous contestants. In the end Allison has to decide if Chris is better off with her our without her.

Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. I enjoyed where Face the Music was going. I do believe this would fit the YA audience perfectly. The heroine had such a young voice even while carrying the responsibility of her family. Allison Banks is a character I would describe as well meaning, naïve and unsure of her place in the world. She fell in love with Chris and their romance had almost a hero worship twinge to it. She believed and acted as if Chris was too good for her. She didn’t believe he was interested in her even when he spent time coming to her apartment in between rehearsals for the show. This story was more about the couple trying to come together, the sex scenes were closed-door reminding me of the love stories I used to gobble up when I was younger (mom edited my reads then). I admit there were some things that could have been better. For example the length of time it took for them to become a couple, her mishaps with her sister and her ex-boyfriend Paul. One thing that cannot be denied, I believe Mrs. Robbins is on her way to being a voice to be reckoned with.

Bookswagger Danielle: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. This book reminded me more of a young adult book. I’m not sure if it was because of the singing competition plot or the closed-door sex scenes. The opening prologue really got to me and no matter what Allison did I couldn’t help but root for her, even though I will admit her indecisiveness got on my nerves. There were a few things that just didn’t quite make sense to me. For example Allison was shy and barely interacted socially but every time I turned around a guy was trying to get with her. This really stood out to me in her interaction with Charlie, I just found it hard to believe she didn’t talk to him before the game but all of a sudden it “seemed” or appeared as if they were together. Allie and Chris spent more time skirting around each other than I would like however I did like them together.

I liked that Chris was still humble while seeking fame. I imagine it would be hard to remain unchanged while in the spotlight. He further endeared himself to me when he left the celebration to find Allie (that was some type of devotion) me I would have been ghost. The author did a wonderful job with the supporting cast. I liked Allie’s interactions with her friends one of them Jake even though he was a bit of a playboy he was charming and likeable. I felt the love between Allie, her sister Emily and niece. While they were a small family the bond was strong.

I really enjoyed this book and what was crazy is that it was free??? I picked it on Smashwords during the Author's free promotion. I read it in less than 24 hours it was that thought provoking. The work speaks for itself. It's a refreshing love story of self-discovery. Grad student Allie has a lot to deal with. She is one of three family members that she has left. She's lost her mother to tragedy and her grandmother to old age. All that's left is her baby sister and her daughter.

May just gush over this book? What a fantastic read? I was worried a little bit when I read the blurb because my first though was "Great an American Idol book" *eye roll*. See, I don't watch American Idol, in fact, I don't want an reality TV and I was worried this was going to be like that.

Face The Music had an American Idol feel to it. The judges were a mix from American Idol & Dancing With The Stars. The main guy, Chris Knots, reminded me a bit of Chris Daughtry. So, when you are reading this story just picture him in your head. ;o)

About the book
Allie starts off the book as a 24-yr-old student/part time high school teacher for the show: Superstardom. She lives with her sister Emily and niece Molly. (Molly is such a cutie in this story). At her job she meets Jake and Chris. Both of these men are really taken by her and would love to date her. She is sworn off on love as it seems everyone leaves her either by choice or by death, with the exceptions of Molly, Emily and her BFF Lauren. Allie is very intelligent, serious, responsible, and always caring for others needs.

Chris is one of the contestants on Superstardom. He learns about Allie through one of the other contestants who happens to be her student, Sam. (Sam is also Jake's little 17 yr old brother). Chris finds reasons to visit Allie in her classroom just so he can see her. Eventually he gets Allie to go out with him. However Jake is always in the background and Chris is never sure what the history is between him and Allie. Also, every week when Chris chooses a song to sing, it always revolves around Allie. She is his inspiration.

At first Allie is the one against trying to have a romantic relationship with any one, but especially with Chris. So she keeps trying to hold back. Eventually when they make a go of their relationship, it's the media, fans and Mr. Doveland who tries to push these two apart. Jake also doesn't help matters with how he acts and what he says around Chris and Allie. And the story goes like that, and Allie lets others invade her mind which ends up causing some drama for the couple down the road.

I would have loved this story so much more if:
1. We had Chris' POV.
2. Chris didn't always jump to conclusions and take action first, then find out the real truth later.
3. The last 20%. Although it does end in favor of who it should end with. Allie and Chris were both stupid in the last 20%. There were so many things I was thinking when reading it thinking WHAT? and Why couldn't Chris have just done that on his own with out the extra shove? And so on...

Otherwise over all a good story but nothing major to brag about. (less)

What did I think?
I love books about musicians. Seriously. If you followed my blog back when I was on wordpress, you would know that already. I adore musicians.....that's why I married one ha! ;-)
When I saw the synopsis of this story, I thought it would be a really cute story. And I was right. I enjoyed the story and the characters.
Allison was really sweet and I was glad to see her find her way. I loved the fact that she was so shy and flustered at first and I found her highly endearing.

It was, again, recommended to me. I'm trying to finish books that are recommended to me first. And since this book is a stand-alone, I decided to give it a try.

So... plot... the plot was for me, predictable. I know what would happen in the end. I have read a lot of books with this kind of plot. You don't know how the Filipino love this kind of genre. As far as contemporary romance novels go, Face the Music has excellent writing, a nice cast of characters with true-to-life personalitlies and a romantic heart-throb anyone would be pining for. I enjoyed the sooo 2000's plot setting of a reality music show and the behind the scenes happenings that drove the story forward.

I would have to say that this novel could fall into either the YA or adult catagory with it's young college age leading lady and PG 13 romance details.

I've been really into new adult contemporary as of late. I don't know why, but I've been reading as many of those as I can get my hands on. I really enjoyed this book even though it is not my style of reading. This book kept me very interested and I had to remind myself that I was reading! I enjoyed the "new" concepts of the book: American Idol, cell phones, computers and more, which surprised me because I am a historical fiction buff. The author's descriptions and details of the characters were perfect to me. I could picture them and relate them to people I know. I know the young, romance novel readers will love this book!

If you like a little angst with your romance with a side of oblivious them you will love this story. I enjoyed Reading Allison's story, her family or what's left is wonderful. Her BFF Lauren was not in this book enough. And all the men that were interested, Lordy!! But only one mattered the entire time so no worries if your the type that hates love triangles, there were none. I definitely recommend this to any one that loves a good love story.

Andrea pens "Face the Music" in a unique plot based the reality singing shows. Filled with suspense, romance, and some sexual scenes but not what I call steamy, this book will captivate you from the start. The characters are believable and relate-able which always makes it a better read, at least for me. A must read for all romance fans.

Allie is a strong intelligent woman

Jake is one on a show competing. (like American Idoil)

It's a rocky start for them it's takes actually almost half the book for them to cleanse the air an get on the same page

Over all I enjoyed the book, I didn't skim pages so it kept my full attention.

Sometimes it was frustrating the constant circumstances that kept poping up at the worst moment.

I stumbled upon this by accident and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.
So many books have reality show themes gearing more towards shows like the Bachelor that it was really fun to see behind the scene of music based reality shows like American Idol.
Really enjoyed this, will be looking for more books by this author.

I wanted to smack Allie at one point fold being such a martyr). I loved the characters - loved that it wasn't insta love and they actually got to know one another. I loved Emily and Lauren - now I just want another book so I can see Jake get his HEA!

I got to page 71 before I set this aside. This is a contemporary romance... boy meets girl. Not a bad read, it's just not my genre. I prefer a lot more angst and drama in my reads.

I think this might be a great read for someone who likes to cozy up to a romance.
