As a person who grew up on comic books, I always wanted a literary genre to spring up from the superhero world. Since the cinematic superhero trend that was catalyzed by Sam Raimi's Spider-Man in 2002, more auteurs, and now authors, are experimenting with the genre. Stories that in most cases tackle the intersection between superherodom and mundane reality. Several pieces show promise or have a few engaging details, but I find it hard to say I liked it as a whole or that it's OK compared to more practiced work.
